Chapter 684: Mobilizing the Power of the Heavenly Dao! The Buddha Sealed for Life!
His journey to the West so far has gone smoothly, almost as if his wishes had come true.
If things continue like this, he has a hundred percent chance of completing this mission.
"Speak of Cao Cao and Cao Cao arrives—looks like I don't need to seek an opportunity."
At that moment, Luo Fu suddenly felt something and turned his gaze toward a certain place in the Earth Immortal Realm.
The direction Luo Fu looked toward was precisely where Mount Wuzhi stood.
Just now, he sensed that the earth seal he had left behind had been disturbed.
·······
Mount Wuzhi.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Not much time has passed since Buddha was sealed away.
Thus, Buddha, still imprisoned beneath the Five Elements Mountain, continues to struggle desperately, hoping to overturn Mount Wuzhi and escape to freedom.
Yet his struggles have no effect whatsoever; they cannot shake the seal left by Luo Fu.
"Such an exquisitely refined technique—this mountain has been fused with the very earth of the Earth Immortal Realm. To oppose this mountain is to oppose the entire Earth Immortal Realm."
"Amitabha! World Honored One, cease your futile efforts—you cannot break free from this Mount Wuzhi."
As Buddha struggled, a thin, elderly monk clad in a kasaya suddenly appeared out of thin air before Mount Wuzhi.
With just one glance, the thin monk discerned the mystery of Mount Wuzhi and spoke to counsel Buddha.
This thin monk was none other than the Buddha of the Past—Daoist Randeng.
After Buddha was sealed, the Two Western Saints ordered Daoist Randeng to emerge and handle the affairs of the Journey to the West.
The first thing Daoist Randeng did upon emerging was to visit Buddha at Mount Wuzhi.
He needed to obtain firsthand information about Luo Fu from Buddha's mouth, and also wished to see if he could free Buddha.
After seeing the mystery of Mount Wuzhi, Daoist Randeng knew that alone, he could not free Buddha—he was not skilled in the Earth Dao.
To free Buddha, one would need to attain Quasi-Saint peak comprehension of the Earth Dao.
Daoist Randeng's primary cultivation was not the Earth Dao.
Hearing Daoist Randeng's voice, Buddha ceased his movements.
He himself knew that what he was doing was utterly futile.
But being sealed beneath Mount Wuzhi was an unimaginable humiliation to Buddha—he could only vent his rage this way.
"Daoist Randeng, did the Saints send you? Quickly free me."
After being sealed by Luo Fu with Mount Wuzhi, Buddha no longer cared for any dignity.
Upon seeing Daoist Randeng, he treated him as a savior, hoping Daoist Randeng would rescue him.
After so long, Buddha now understood clearly just how strong Mount Wuzhi's seal truly was.
He knew very well that even his own true body could hardly free him.
Of course, Buddha did not believe Daoist Randeng could free him.
His true hope lay with the Two Western Saints.
Even if Luo Fu's technique was exquisitely refined, it was still only Quasi-Saint level—should a Saint intervene, they could surely break the seal effortlessly.
Daoist Randeng's appearance here must be due to the command of the Two Western Saints.
Thus, Buddha urgently hoped Daoist Randeng would shatter the seal of the Five Elements Mountain and rescue him.
Unfortunately, this time, Buddha is destined to be disappointed.
"Amitabha! I have come only to see the World Honored One once—the Saints have not granted me the means to break the seal. Thus, the World Honored One must remain at Mount Wuzhi for a while longer."
Uttering a Buddhist mantra, Daoist Randeng directly shattered Buddha's hopes.
Unlike Buddha, Daoist Randeng's origins are far older, and he knows more of the hidden truths of the Primordial Chaos.
The instant he saw Mount Wuzhi's seal, he understood.
The Two Western Saints could not intervene to break Mount Wuzhi's seal.
It was not that they did not wish to—they could not.
To shatter Mount Wuzhi's seal, one must possess profound mastery of the Earth Dao.
The Two Western Saints do not primarily cultivate the Earth Dao.
Compared to ordinary Quasi-Saints, Saints are merely able to wield the power of the Heavenly Dao.
Their comprehension of their own Dao is not necessarily stronger than that of Quasi-Saints.
Because they can manipulate the power of the Heavenly Dao, Saints find it easier to comprehend the Dao.
Thus, a Saint may dabble in several of the Three Thousand Daos.
But only to a superficial degree.
The Two Western Saints do not possess Quasi-Saint peak comprehension of the Earth Dao.
Nor does anyone in Buddhism possess Quasi-Saint peak mastery of the Earth Dao.
In fact, throughout the Three Realms, few great cultivators have comprehended the Earth Dao.
The Earth Dao is one of the more difficult Daos to comprehend—it requires exceptional talent and insight.
Among the limited number of great cultivators, only three are known to have reached Quasi-Saint peak comprehension of the Earth Dao.
One is Lady Nuwa, one is Pingxin Niangniang, and the other is Zhen Yuanzi, the Ancestor of Earth Immortals.
The first two are Saints, and both are hostile to Buddhism—there is no chance the Two Western Saints could persuade them to act.
Zhen Yuanzi has no conflict with Buddhism, but persuading him is no easy matter.
Buddha was sealed by Luo Fu's own hand—breaking the seal means becoming an enemy of Luo Fu.
Zhen Yuanzi has always been detached from worldly affairs; even if the Two Western Saints paid a heavy price, knowing that acting would surely offend Luo Fu, Zhen Yuanzi would almost certainly refuse.
Without sufficient mastery of the Dao, the Two Western Saints wished to rescue the Buddha.
There is another path: to mobilize the power of Heaven's Dao and forcibly act to rescue the Buddha.
A Saint mobilizing the power of Heaven's Dao could certainly shatter the seal of Mount Wuzhi.
Mount Wuzhi is ultimately only a Quasi-Saint layer technique.
But doing so would first violate the Patriarch of the Dao's prohibition.
The Patriarch of the Dao forbade the Saints from intervening in the Three Realms.
The Earth Immortal Realm is not the Outer Heavens.
If the Two Western Saints dared to intervene in the Earth Immortal Realm, they would not have stood idly by as the Buddha was sealed by Luo Fu.
Secondly, Mount Wuzhi has become linked to the Earth Immortal Realm's earth veins.
