Chapter 17: The Great Witch Operation

~9 min read 1,660 words

Tian Yuan, having returned to Mount Buzhou, leaped into the air, intending to flee toward the Eastern Land.

Before he had even descended, his gaze turned toward the northeast, where he sensed a surging wave of Qi and blood.

Late-stage Taiyi Golden Immortal; this was the second late-stage Taiyi Golden Immortal of the Wu Clan he had encountered.

The other party was searching back and forth at the foot of the mountain, stopping at times, and at others, looking toward Mount Buzhou with a strange expression.

After he had swept away numerous members of the Wu Clan, powerful members of the Wu Clan had occasionally appeared early on, only to be casually captured by Tian Yuan as well.

Whether in their tribes or encountered by chance on the road, no one was his match.

The last late-stage Taiyi Golden Immortal of the Wu Clan he had encountered was a hundred years ago, in the first tribe he had swept away.

He had just been passing by at the time, and because the other party's strength was decent, he had captured them in passing.

He had not expected that a hundred years later, these members of the Wu Clan would have already investigated as far as Mount Buzhou.

"They are truly fast; it seems they have already begun to suspect me," Tian Yuan muttered to himself, feeling somewhat depressed in his heart.

The Wu Clan was born with an affinity for the laws, and many possessed the ability to communicate with spiritual objects; finding him was within expectations, but he had not expected it to be so soon.

Fortunately, he had not chosen the direction of other Wu Clan tribes back then, otherwise, he would have drawn out an Ancestral Witch.

Opening his mouth, he spat out, and rolling yellow earth shot forth; the Nine Heavens Breathing Soil wrapped toward the other party.

If it were the perfection stage of the Taiyi Golden Immortal realm, he might have engaged in hand-to-hand combat, but since their realm was weaker than his, there was no point in a contest.

That member of the Wu Clan who was searching all around seemed to sense something; he looked up at the sky, his expression changed slightly, and he immediately transformed into a streak of blood-colored light, fleeing toward the distance.

Seeing the other party's actions, Tian Yuan merely curled his lips.

Even using divine abilities via the Primordial Spirit, it was not certain one could escape, let alone a mere member of the Wu Clan.

With a *swish*, the blood-colored light faded, and they were already wrapped up by the Nine Heavens Breathing Soil.

Without moving his body a thousand miles, he had captured his opponent with a flip of his hand.

Tian Yuan also somewhat understood why everyone in the Primordial World was so keen on powerful magic treasures.

Within the same realm, having a formidable magic treasure was simply an overwhelming advantage.

His figure vanished; Tian Yuan casually tossed that member of the Wu Clan into the Earth Vein, then rose and fled toward the Eastern Land.

He wanted to capture more members of the Wu Clan before attracting the attention of the Ancestral Witches.

The difficulty of breaking through to the Great Luo Golden Immortal realm was even greater than he had imagined; since his last breakthrough, Tian Yuan had accumulated six Branch Veins, but he had not felt the slightest sensation of a breakthrough.

With his current cultivation, he could travel tens of thousands of miles in an instant, but the Primordial World was truly too vast.

Along the way, he occasionally encountered powerful members of the Demon Race, but Tian Yuan no longer had any interest in them.

Compared to the Wu Clan, the speed at which those members of the Demon Race dredged and purified the Earth Veins was simply too slow.

Of the fourteen Branch Veins purified now, the Demon Race only occupied two; except for the one dredged by the three thousand stone men, the rest were all the work of the Wu Clan.

With the Wu Clan having such miraculous efficiency, how could Tian Yuan still have any interest in catching any Demon Race?

Several years later, rolling momentum came from the sky behind him, accompanied by the *rumbling* sound of thunder; another Branch Vein had been dredged.

"The Great Luo Golden Immortal is indeed a hurdle!" Tian Yuan, fleeing through the soil, felt some regret in his heart.

The preaching at Purple Heaven Palace had only just begun, and those Innate Sacreds were all only Great Luo Golden Immortals. If he could step into the Great Luo, his actions could be much more convenient.

In a marshland in the East, lightning flickered and gale winds howled.

A massive body leaped down from the sky, crashing heavily into the sludge.

The burly man was over a hundred zhang tall, his entire body covered in solid muscle, with two long yellow snakes wrapped around his arms. As his disheveled hair swayed, two petite yellow snakes could faintly be seen emerging from his earlobes, flicking their bright red tongues.

With yellow snakes wrapped around his body and snakes hanging from his ears, this burly figure was the famous Great Witch of the Houtu Tribe, Kuafu.

With a *rumbling* sound, the splashed mud scattered in a circular curtain toward the surroundings; Kuafu, standing in the pit, reached out and grabbed beneath him.

The entire marsh began to shake violently, sewage surged with mud and sand, and a low roar sounded. "Hmph!"

With an angry snort from Kuafu, his large hand pulled out a massive figure.

It was a strange snake, several hundred zhang long, with two heads, its entire body crimson red, and a pair of blood-colored flesh spikes on its back, though its aura was somewhat sluggish at the moment.

The strange snake, held by its vital point by Kuafu, struggled with all its might, unable to escape at all; its two heads begged for mercy repeatedly: "Spare me! Spare me!"

Kuafu turned a deaf ear, grabbed the strange snake's tail with his other hand, and then slammed it fiercely onto the ground.

With a heaven-shaking sound, huge gullies were carved in a crisscross pattern throughout the sprawling marsh. The strange snake initially wailed and begged for mercy, but gradually it lost all sound, and rolling blood surged from its mouth and nose.

Seeing the Demon Beast in his palm was dead, Kuafu casually dragged it and walked toward the distant forest.

There, one massive figure after another stood tall, all of them over a hundred zhang in size, their bodies emitting heaven-topping Malevolent Qi.

The four yellow snakes wrapped around his body *whooshed* out, darting toward the corpse being dragged on the ground, licking and eating the flowing blood.

Kuafu ignored them and strode forward.

In the distant sky, a figure streaked across, fleeing toward Kuafu.

Seeing the newcomer, Kuafu laughed loudly: "The Demon Beast has already been captured by me, no need for brother to take action!"

The newcomer had six arms and four eyes, was one zhang tall, and wore a beast-hide skirt and beast skin; he was another Great Witch of the Houtu Tribe, Houyi.

Houyi landed before him, his face grave as he said: "Brother! There is something amiss with the tribe under Mount Buzhou."

Kuafu, who had been in high spirits, was stunned upon hearing this, and he roared: "Could it be that a Great Demon has fled to the rear?"

After the Dragon Han First Tribulation, the Wu Clan began to move toward the Primordial World, and the tribe had long since radiated outward with Mount Buzhou as the center.

Only recently had they quickened their pace and no longer concealed their tracks.

The desire to dominate the Primordial World was known to all races.

Along the way, they had destroyed numerous tribes, slaughtered Great Demons, and kept the rest in captivity to serve as food or to train their juniors.

This naturally provoked the anger of many Great Demons; because they dared not clash head-on with the Wu Clan, they could only stir up trouble in the rear, and they would occasionally go to slaughter them, but the foot of Mount Buzhou was the base camp of the Wu Clan.

Could it be that those Great Demons knew the Ancestral Witches were away and were thus causing chaos at the foot of Mount Buzhou?

Houyi shook his head, his expression still carrying doubt.

Seeing Houyi's strangeness, Kuafu casually dropped the strange snake and said in a deep voice: "Brother, explain in detail!"

When Ancestral Witch Houtu departed, she had entrusted the affairs of the tribe entirely to them.

Houyi looked up and recounted the strange happenings at the foot of Mount Buzhou, causing Kuafu to frown immediately as he listened.

"They only abduct tribesmen above the Golden Immortal realm, yet they let the women and children go?" Kuafu said with a dark face, his eyes full of confusion.

They enjoyed eating the Demon Race, and these Demons had killed no small number of the Wu Clan, yet they had never seen them act so mercifully.

"This matter is strange; you must return to Mount Buzhou at once to investigate!" Houyi nodded.

Even Wu clansmen at the Taiyi Golden Immortal Essence Refining Stage have disappeared; only we Great Witches can resolve this matter.

"Fine! I will go now!"

Bidding farewell to Houyi, Kuafu picked up a wooden staff in the distance and went rumbling toward the direction of Mount Buzhou.

The four yellow snakes still licking the ground twisted their bodies as a glow flickered in the distance.

Watching Kuafu's receding figure, Houyi murmured softly, "Could it be related to the unusual movements of Mount Buzhou?"

In the last thousand years or so, Mount Buzhou has frequently displayed its might; it seems things are not that simple.

But with my brother gone there, all will be settled!
