Chapter 50: The Eight Treasures Merit Pool Displays Its Power, Nurturing All Things of the West!
Jieyin and Zhunti's gazes were gentle; upon meeting each other's eyes, they couldn't help but share a knowing smile.
Chen Ku's such firmness made both of them feel quite surprised.
After all, when they first took him as a disciple, Jieyin had once displayed the might of a quasi-sage, somewhat intending to pressure Chen Ku.
Yet they never expected that now Chen Ku, toward them, is already so devoted and righteous.
Of course, Jieyin's earlier words were not meant to test Chen Ku.
If the latter truly chose to leave and return to the Eastern Realm, then Jieyin and Zhunti would not say anything further.
"Haha, good, good!"
"To have obtained such a disciple, I have no regrets..."
Jieyin couldn't help but laugh heartily with relief, and thus sighed.
Watching Chen Ku still employing the Eight Treasures Merit Pool to nurture the Western spiritual roots and immortal herbs, myriad living beings, and so on.
Zhunti also immediately came to his senses.
"Haha, since my nephew is putting forth such vigor."
"What do we two have left to worry about?!"
"I too have come to ferry across these endless resentful souls, to improve my Western Realm."
As the words fell, Zhunti's surrounding qi surged and rolled outward.
A holy and harmonious quasi-sage aura permeated, and the surrounding killing intent and resentment, etc., suddenly weakened.
Jieyin no longer wasted words.
"Western Deliverance Method!"
With a soft shout, Jieyin also began to employ a profound and mysterious Dharma.
From his mouth he uttered layer upon layer of obscure and profound mantras, their meaning inscrutable, like the resonant tones of the Great Dao, and like the murmurs of myriad Buddha children in the palm-held Buddha-land, echoing throughout the Western Realm.
In an instant, within a radius of tens of millions of li, the mournful wind ceased abruptly, and the wails of resentful souls that made one's scalp tingle also diminished.
Ultimately, they ceased to exist entirely.
Evidently, Jieyin and Zhunti had long ago, in the past, already been ferrying the Western resentful souls and purifying endless grudges, expending great mental effort and having derived a method specifically for this.
And as Jieyin and Zhunti acted, the resentful souls were ferried, the grudges purified, and strand after strand of merit's mystic light became ever more brilliant and dazzling, splendid to the extreme.
Thus, these merit's mystic lights could now endure, continuing to nourish the boundless living beings of this place.
The three, while acting, employed various mysterious Dao arts and treasures such as the Eight Treasures Merit Pool, and hurried swiftly toward Mount Sumeru.
That place was also their final destination.
Know that even just the Western Realm alone is boundless and extraordinarily vast.
And although Jieyin and Zhunti's methods can affect an area of tens of thousands of li, for the whole Western Realm they are but a drop in the ocean.
No one knows how long passed, but the three's movements did not cease for a moment.
And wherever they passed, it was no longer the previous desolate, barren scene.
Instead, there was misty spiritual light, teeming vitality, the merit pool's water falling like rain, divine radiance gleaming, profound and ineffable.
Fortunately, the interior of the Eight Treasures Merit Pool forms its own space, its water as if endless.
Thus, Chen Ku need not worry about exhausting it.
That day, the three finally arrived at the foot of Mount Sumeru.
"Hehe, this is where our Dao resides."
Jieyin halted his steps and spoke softly.
Hearing this, Chen Ku immediately focused his gaze, looking up at the before‑him immensely towering, grand and expansive Mount Sumeru.
Not bad!
Just look up!
The Mount Sumeru before our eyes is truly enormous.
Gazing outward, its base spans hundreds of millions of li, with no end in sight.
At its peak, it pierces the clouds, extraordinarily high beyond estimation.
As the saying goes, a mustard seed contains Mount Sumeru; the two words 'Sumeru' inherently signify immeasurable grandeur, even enough to be regarded as the center of a world.
Merely such a magnificent sight already made Chen Ku unable to restrain his stirred spirit, his countenance becoming solemn.
More importantly, compared to the endless territories the three have traversed, this Mount Sumeru is no longer desolate and lifeless.
Gazing out, the entire Mount Sumeru brims with visible spiritual energy rising and falling, profound and mysterious.
Although it does not reach the point of almost materializing, the spiritual roots and immortal herbs on Mount Sumeru, nourished by it, are likewise vigorous, not a barren scene.
Above the summit, moreover, stars encircle, emitting starlight that illuminates a region of tens of millions of li.
Although it cannot compare to Mount Kunlun's Eastern paradise, within the Western Realm it can indeed be called extremely tranquil and extraordinary.
"Hehe… this is indeed very good."
"Then we can directly plant many spiritual roots and immortal fruits."
Chen Ku thought to himself.
He had previously also been somewhat worried, fearing that if Mount Sumeru were like the path of the Tathagata, it might not be sufficient for various spiritual roots to survive here.
What he saw before him set his mind at ease, also sparing him the trouble of first improving Mount Sumeru.
Immediately, he turned his palm, and vast expanses of imperishable spiritual light appeared.
One after another, spiritual roots and immortal fruits emerged.
The innate pear‑tree, the innate jujube tree, and so on—Chen Ku summoned forth all he had obtained in his prior travels, holding nothing back.
Then, torrents of mighty magical power surged forth, planting them directly in the vicinity of Mount Sumeru.
Now Chen Ku has attained the cultivation of a Grand Unity Golden Immortal, so he also needs no assistance from Jieyin and Zhunti.
Moreover, the means he casually displayed actually left Jieyin and Zhunti stunned, their hearts filled with shock.
The spiritual roots were lush and verdant, branches and leaves flourishing, emitting myriad rays of light that illuminated Mount Sumeru.
Instantly, Jieyin and Zhunti felt as if heaven and earth had been transformed, and they couldn't help but gasp in amazement.
And that's not all!
Chen Ku once again raised the Eight Treasures Merit Pool.
This time, the pool's water no longer fell like sweet rain but flowed steadily, directly irrigating these spiritual roots before them.
Unlike the previous merit's mystic light, this time Chen Ku employed the true primordial merit power.
After all, this is where Mount Sumeru stands, and it will later become the sage's dojo—its importance goes without saying.
And although it was merely a thread of merit power, its effect could be called astonishing to the world.
Wherever the merit power passed, one spiritual root after another suddenly burst forth with a vast and mighty aura.
The karmic obstacles and murderous qi lurking in the darkness instantly vanished.
The spiritual roots seemed to have gained a feeling of joyous excitement.
And within tens of millions of li around Mount Sumeru, the spiritual energy ebbed and flowed in grand waves; without Jieyin, Zhunti, and the others needing to act deliberately, it seemed to form a mysterious cycle, endless and eternal.
Mount Sumeru is the center of the Western world; thus the merit power will naturally purify everything in the West, without Jieyin and Zhunti having to toil with manual effort.
Furthermore, this purification will gradually spread, eventually extending to the entirety of the Western world.
"Haha, it seems my disciple has already planned everything."
"Moreover, his innate keen perception of spiritual roots and immortal fruits is what allows our West to have this sight today."
"Good, excellent!"
Jieyin exclaimed in amazement, his gaze toward Chen Ku growing ever more relieved and admiring.
Without Chen Ku's countless prior keen perceptions, they would never have obtained so many spiritual roots and immortal fruits, nor could they have changed the state of the West.
Moreover, seeing Chen Ku's neat and orderly actions, it is clear he too had long held his own ideas for improving the West.
This disciple, once again, made Jieyin and Zhunti look at him anew, and they were overjoyed beyond expectation.
Zhunti also chuckled and said:
"With my grandnephew here, reviving the Western world is imminent."
Evidently, Zhunti's confidence was greatly bolstered.
However, what he said was not about the effects of those many spiritual roots, but rather extravagant praise for Chen Ku, sparing no compliment.
At this moment, in Zhunti's heart, a single Chen Ku outweighed myriad spiritual roots and immortal fruits.
And just as Jieyin and Zhunti were marveling,
suddenly, an omen appeared high in the heavens!
Boom—
The Heavenly Dao sensed it, rumbling incessantly, causing Jieyin and Zhunti to glance sideways immediately.
Next, rosy light burst forth, auspicious colors intertwined, and purple qi came from the east for thirty thousand li.
Only seen, boundless heavenly skies above, vast clouds of merit auspiciousness appeared, indeed heading toward Mount Sumeru.
"Hiss—"
"This… merit has fallen from the heavens?!"
Merit!
Jieyin and Zhunti instantly recognized it as the manifestation of boundless merit.
The two spoke in unison, exclaiming a phrase.
The descent of heavenly merit—this scene, for Jieyin and Zhunti, was something they had never seen in endless ages.
