Chapter 108: with translation of chapter title
"West Kunlun divine person Gou Hui has arrived!"
"Kunlun Mountain divine person Lu Wu has arrived!"
"North Sea deity Yu Qiang has arrived!"
……
With waves of chanting cries, countless primordial deities arrived at the Kunlun Mountain Qilin tribe's territory, accompanied by a large number of exotic beasts and mundane beings.
They came to congratulate Shi Qilin on his cultivation entering the Primordial Chaos Dao, and incidentally to listen to his lecture.
All who came, regardless of cultivation level, were offered spiritual fruits and fine wine; the place buzzed with voices, a profusion of flowers, displaying the grandeur of the great clan.
Such hospitality lasted until the lecture began; during this period, any sentient being could come to the Qilin tribe to eat and drink freely.
These spiritual fruits and wines are not always available; for these mundane folk, giving up a little effort saves ten thousand years of work—how could they not come for such a boon?
Lu Wu and Gou Hui were somewhat surprised; though they had long dwelt in West Kunlun, they also knew the name of the Three Pure Ones of East Kunlun, yet never expected them not to come.
After all, although they disliked the Qilin tribe making Kunlun Mountain murky and foul, they were still beings of Kunlun Mountain, and for such a joyous occasion they ought to attend.
Gou Hui felt helpless; although she knew the Three Pure Ones, like her, were single-mindedly devoted to cultivation, she never imagined they would be so unreasonable.
"Exalted one, what do you say about the East Kunlun Three Pure Ones' conduct—are they truly single-mindedly cultivating and oblivious to human affairs, or do they, clinging to the Pangu orthodox lineage, look down on this Qilin tribe?"
Lu Wu's words made Gou Hui frown slightly; she also did not know what the Three Pure Ones were thinking, but now that the Qilin tribe is powerful, even if unwilling they should attend—could they truly be so arrogant as to refuse to associate?
"Just settle your own mind; don't gossip about others."
Gou Hui gave Lu Wu a slight acknowledgment, not wishing to get involved.
Gou Hui had long enjoyed prestige in West Kunlun; its beings regarded her as their leader, having always devoted themselves to cultivation and avoided involvement in primordial affairs.
Seeing Gou Hui thus, Lu Wu ceased speaking, continually consuming spiritual fruit and wine, yet his mind still pondered the Three Pure Ones' thoughts.
The spiritual fruit on Lu Wu's table was far better than others', yet compared to Gou Hui's it was considerably worse, prompting him to inwardly complain that the Qilin tribe judges people by their status.
On Gou Hui's table lay four kinds of spiritual fruit, twelve in total, all produced from premium spiritual roots, making her the most distinguished among the attending deities.
Seeing this, Gou Hui could not help but marvel at the Qilin tribe's extravagance—rightfully occupying half of the primordial land, their stores are so rich that none in the world can rival them.
At this moment Shi Qilin had not yet appeared; the three empty seats at the forefront of the banquet were strikingly conspicuous.
In the quiet chamber, after a moment's hesitation, Shi Qilin sent another invitation to the Three Pure Ones, inviting them to the banquet to lecture together.
Long ago, when he first came to the Qilin tribe, the magnificent scene of the lecture remained before Shi Qilin's eyes; now he wished to recreate that spectacle, but if only he were present, it would be rather desolate.
As emanations of Pangu's pure qi, the Three Pure Ones have the noblest lineage; if they could come, they would add splendor to the Qilin tribe's lecture.
Unfortunately, before Shi Qilin's invitation reached East Kunlun, a divine light struck it down, and nobody noticed, thus his intention lost its chance to be fulfilled.
Jade Capital Mountain.
Hongjun raised his hand to stroke his beard and softly said:
"The Three Pure Ones share a karmic bond with my immortal Dao; how could I go again to hear you lecture on the Divine Dao's Primordial Chaos?"
It turned out that the one who just struck down the invitation was none other than the Daoist Hongjun.
Suddenly a prompt appeared on the Jade Disc of Creation, startling Hongjun awake; he then realized that the person he valued most in the flourishing of the Mystic Gate had undertaken a return to the Divine Dao, hence this incident.
Kunlun Mountain.
Shi Qilin's face turned dark; he never expected the Three Pure Ones to be so arrogant—even if they did not come, it would be tolerable, yet he had sent invitations and received not a single reply.
Upon this thought, Shi Qilin decided on the one to establish prestige: he would have these Pangu orthodox ones forge the Qilin tribe's dignity.
At this moment the Three Pure Ones were unaware that, unbeknownst to them, they had inadvertently invited calamity; had they known of the invitation, even if unwilling they would not have so slighted Shi Qilin's face.
Shi Qilin gave it no further thought; with the lecture imminent, the urgent task was to find another co-lecturer, otherwise such a grand affair would be too desolate with only him.
Thinking among the guests, there was also someone whose status was not inferior to the Three Pure Ones, equally of noble lineage; without hesitation he sent a mental message.
When Gou Hui received Shi Qilin's mental summons, she was still somewhat astonished, not knowing why he would invite her to co-lecture, given that they had little prior acquaintance.
Yet she did not refuse; after all, it was merely a lecture, and as long as she was not made to leave Kunlun Mountain or act against the Three Powers, she usually would not decline.
Moreover, the reward the Qilin tribe offered was high—a premium innate spiritual root, far surpassing the value of her lecture; such a boon arriving at her door, how could she turn it away?
Gou Hui did not know that, when he first came to Kunlun Mountain to lecture for the Qilin tribe, she had not attended, so she naturally was unaware of the scene then.
Had she attended that lecture then, she would understand why Shi Qilin wished to invite her to co-lecture.
Gou Hui no longer remained seated; she turned and headed for the Qilin cavern to select spiritual roots and prepare for the lecture.
Although she herself was not lacking in spiritual roots, there was a kind of spiritual fruit at the banquet that she still rather liked to eat.
As time passed, the lecture's time arrived; the banquet dispersed, the deities sat upright, awaiting only Shi Qilin to open the lecture on the Primordial Chaos Dao.
When the lecture time came, yet Gou Hui and Shi Qilin appeared together—Gou Hui ascended the lecture platform, while Shi Qilin sat among the seats.
Those who had come before to listen naturally understood the meaning, and could not help but sigh at the Qilin tribe's grandeur and the scene of that day.
Yet time did not cease; everyone only heard Gou Hui open her mouth and say:
"The Dao divides into yin and yang; the Five Phases are the substance of yin and yang, yin and yang are the qi of the Five Phases; qi cannot stand without substance, substance cannot exist without qi, and 'to act' means to carry out the qi of yin and yang."
"All things bear yin and embrace yang; the yin Dao splits into Greater Yin, Lesser Yin, and the number six of Ultimate Yin is Greater Yin, the number eight of Lesser Yin……"
As the Dao resonance followed Gou Hui's voice, heaven and earth underwent strange changes: night encroached upon day, an aspect of devouring yang; a heavenly maiden arrived, yet no heavenly flowers fell.
Only the heavenly maiden's silk fan swayed lightly, a pure breeze encircled, raising ripples; though no golden lotus surged from the earth, a fragrant wind passed through.
Upon hearing it, everyone felt their hands and feet turn icy, yet they were immersed, as if drowned in fragrance by a beauty.
As the Dao resonance progressed, Gou Hui noticed the audience's abnormality, so she ceased speaking of Ultimate Yin and turned to Lesser Yin.
Heaven and earth regained light, yet it seemed like dusk: rosy light scattered, golden lotuses welled up from the ground, the heavenly maiden showered heavenly flowers, and only then did people return to normal.
With the lecture's transformation, the heavenly phenomena were like the sun rising, all things bearing dew; although sunlight poured down, it also carried a hint of chill, yet the aspect of vitality already appeared.
The crowd was intoxicated, unaware of time's passage; six thousand years flashed by in an instant, whereupon Gou Hui ceased lecturing and fell silent.
When the heavenly portents dissipated and the crowd awoke, Gou Hui had already returned to her seat, sitting supported on a cushion.
