Chapter 158: Qing Long, Yuan Huang

~8 min read 1,447 words

Countless terrifying divine lights tore across the sky; to those far away who saw them, it was a rare beautiful sight.

But for Zhu Que, each of those divine lights could cost her life.

"Damn it!"

Zhu Que cursed in her heart, but this anger could not resolve her current predicament.

Not long ago, numerous primordial gods suddenly launched an attack, assaulting the Phoenix Clan's camp, and in an instant inflicted heavy losses upon them.

Originally, the nine Great Luo Golden Immortals who had survived the great war all perished in Yellow Springs in this battle, and she too suffered severe wounds during the pursuit.

Had she not learned the Phoenix Clan's Technique of Flight and Escape, she likely would not have escaped death that day.

"You are pressing us like this—do you truly not fear the two clan leaders settling accounts afterward?"

Zhu Que felt helpless; even from the moment she was attacked, she had sent a message to Yuan Feng and the others, but they were in the Southern Continent, and she did not know if they could make it in time.

"Pressuring? Zhu Que, you're thick‑skinned—who exactly has been constantly forcing us to act, using extermination methods to run rampant in the North?"

"If we could still let you live, it would be in vain for us to still act for the beings of the North!"

"As for Yuan Feng and Yuan Huang, allowing you to kill with this method does not make them benevolent; should they come, the Dragon Clan will naturally block them."

Having said that, Yu Qiang once again mobilized his divine power, responding to Zhu Que's shamelessness with a single divine light.

Zhu Que's methods were too cruel, already arousing the wrath of the Northern beings; as the Northern primordial gods, even without Yu Qiang taking the lead, they would act to answer the beings' wishes.

Now only they are pursuing Zhu Que; it's not that others refuse to act, but others are busy surrounding and exterminating the people of the Northern Phoenix Clan.

Yuan Huang was currently rushing through the sky; having entered the Primordial Unity Dao, a single unfurling of her wings could carry her over countless rivers and mountains.

She was extremely anxious; the situation in the North was chaotic, within the Phoenix Clan every moment a soul lamp was extinguished, and Zhu Que was still being hunted.

With the massive deaths of the clansmen, the shift in fortune caused the cries of the Fortune-Colored Phoenix to echo without cease.

"I must catch up!"

Yuan Huang's heart and mind could not calm; her thoughts constantly urged her to speed up, yet just as she was about to reach the Northern Continent, a roadblock appeared.

"Fellow Daoist Yuan Huang, why such haste? The situation is already settled; even if you rush there, you can do nothing."

Yuan Huang looked at the Qing Long blocking her path and knew the North was utterly finished.

"Move aside, or die!"

Yuan Huang shouted sternly.

Qing Long made no move, merely smiling and saying, "Fellow Daoist, you should also understand that Zhu Que's perverse conduct in the North has provoked heaven's wrath and popular resentment, cutting herself off from the North."

"Now that this calamity has come, it is also fitting heavenly fate; Fellow Daoist, please do not delude yourself."

Yuan Huang also laughed, though it was laughter born of anger—since it was not the Dragon Clan who would die, it became a matter of heavenly fate.

"Qing Long, are you truly going to tear face and block my way?"

Yuan Huang rebuked, saying that she now carries a child and, unless truly unavoidable, she really does not wish to fight.

"Fellow Daoist Yuan Huang, please do not delude yourself; I cannot let you pass today."

Qing Long still wore that smiling expression, yet his intention to block the road was unmistakable.

A trace of Dao Rhythm spread from beside Yuan Huang, turning heaven and earth black and white, revealing yin and yang within the area; the surrounding space began to tremble incessantly, as if under the scouring of this Dao Rhythm, space itself grew fragile and perilously weak.

Qing Long watched this scene; green vitality likewise flowed over his body, plants bursting with life, extending from the black-and-white heaven and earth, appearing lush and verdant.

In an instant both moved, though no strike was yet seen, heaven and earth flashed with countless spiritual lights; where the Dao Rhythm permeated, earth, water, fire, and wind reenacted.

The Southern Off-ground Flame Light Banner unfurled, yin and yang fell into chaos, the Five Elements inverted, and the Dao Rhythm originally emanating from Qing Long was directly repelled by it.

Yuan Huang stood beneath the Off-ground Flame Light Banner; her Dao Rhythm transformed into yin and yang energies, sweeping straight toward Qing Long.

Qing Long likewise unfurled a banner; only relic gleams were seen, all things calmed—this treasure was precisely the Eastern Azure Lotus Precious Color Banner.

Those gleams collided with the yin and yang energies; instantly the sound of shattering filled the ears, yet ultimately they were dissipated between heaven and earth.

Yuan Huang waved the Off-ground Flame Light Banner, using her own yin and yang energies as a base to activate the treasure, causing the already chaotic and hard‑to‑subdue yin and yang energies to become ever more violent.

Where the divine light passed, heaven and earth lost their color, and all vitality was cut off.

Qing Long then produced another jade disc, upon which a giant dragon coiled above white jade; he lightly turned it, and a huge white jade dragon swam forth from the disc, encircling Qing Long's person.

The violent yin and yang energies shattered the defense of the Eastern Azure Lotus Precious Color Banner, then surged toward Qing Long, but were easily scattered by the swaying tail of the jade dragon as it moved.

Qing Long flipped the jade disc again; the jade dragon turned its head to look at Yuan Huang, swayed its tail, and its form vanished into space.

Yuan Huang furrowed her brows; her powerful divine sense continually swept the surroundings, yet she could only glimpse a faint phantom of the jade dragon within space.

The Southern Off-ground Flame Light Banner was waved, the frenzied yin and yang energies appeared again, but not in a defensive stance—instead they surged toward Qing Long once more to kill.

With a flick of his hand, Qing Long caused the Eastern Azure Lotus Precious Color Banner to take root in the heavens; countless plants grew, wildly extending in the direction from which the yin and yang energies attacked.

When their divine powers collided, the jade dragon finally poked its head out of space, its massive mouth opened, teeth densely packed, and it lunged at Yuan Huang.

What awaited it, however, was another stream of yin and yang energy, which surged into the jade dragon's body from its mouth, pushing the jade dragon out countless light‑years away.

Yuan Huang, who had intercepted this attack, showed no slack; her brows knit tightly, her gaze exceedingly grave.

What she had just seen was that the surging yin and yang energies had inflicted no harm upon the jade dragon.

Clearly it had struck straight into the jade dragon's mouth, yet it burst out from the corner of its jaws; left with no choice, she changed her approach, opting to push the jade dragon away.

Qing Long, from the side, again urged:

"Fellow Daoist Yuan Huang, my Clear Sky White Jade Dragon Disc is a treasure rare under heaven that does not belong to the Five Elements, its grade not inferior to the Five Elements Banner."

"With my intention to block, you have no hope of breaking through this line in a short time; better to turn back, for there is no need for us to decide superiority now."

"Zhu Que's conduct in the North has gone too far, already arousing universal anger; those who act against her are not the Dragon Clan, but the primordial gods of the northern lands."

"You should know what this means; even they find it intolerable, choosing to enter the great calamity—its outcome is easy to foresee."

Yuan Huang fell silent, but her lack of retreat also revealed her stance.

She must reach the Northern Continent; her clansmen's lives hang by a thread, and they cannot be left unsaved.

But what Qing Long said is an obstacle she cannot avoid; indeed, in the short term she cannot break through his blockade.

This put Yuan Huang in a dilemma, while Qing Long also did not act, merely speaking up to advise.
