Chapter 214

Interpretation: Pure light crosses the chaos qi flow, within it opening up a Heaven-Reaching Great Dao; the five people have outstanding bearing, they walk together within it.
But we need to avoid adding. Let's try: "Pure light stretched across the chaos qi flow, opening a Heaven-Reaching Great Dao within it; the five people had outstanding bearing and walked together within it."
We need to keep meaning:... (this seems like a comment, not a line to translate? Actually the user gave many lines with explanations after each Chinese line. The pattern: they gave a Chinese line, then a comment line starting with 【number】 maybe? Actually they gave:
We'll produce: "Pure light spanned the chaos qi flow, within which a Heaven-Reaching Great Dao was opened; the five people bore outstanding demeanor and walked together within it."
Pure light spanned the chaos qi flow and, within it, opened a Heaven-Reaching Great Dao.
The five people possessed outstanding bearing and walked together within it.
Combine: "Pure light spanned the chaos qi flow and, within it, opened a Heaven-Reaching Great Dao; the five people bore outstanding bearing and walked together within it."
But "bore outstanding bearing" is awkward. Better: "the five people had outstanding demeanor and walked together within it."
Let's produce: "Pure light spanned the chaos qi flow and, within it, opened a Heaven-Reaching Great Dao; the five people had outstanding bearing and walked together within it."
Now check if we omitted any info: "Pure light spanned the chaos qi flow" covered. "Within it, they opened up a Heaven-Reaching Great Dao" covered. "The five people had outstanding bearing and walked together within it" covered.
Ok.
After less than three thousand years of travel, they saw a golden bridge stretching across countless chaotic qi, heading straight for the five of them.
Interpretation: Not having traveled more than three thousand years, they saw a golden bridge, spanning countless chaos qi, coming straight toward the five people.

The golden bridge shone with dazzling spiritual light; even chaos could not erode it in the least. A single glance told Qi that it was truly extraordinary—no less than the innate twelfth‑grade Pure World White Lotus, and even surpassing it.
Interpretation: The golden bridge emitted dazzling spiritual light; even though it was the erosion of chaos, it could not damage it in the slightest; merely a glance, Qi knew this object was truly extraordinary, not inferior to the Innate Twelfth Grade Pure World White Lotus, indeed even surpassing it.

Just a glance, and Qi realized this object was truly extraordinary.
The golden bridge stopped before the crowd and then remained still; obviously it had come for Jieyin. Qi, unable to contain himself, said: "It turns out these fated individuals are precisely this kind of fated method, personally selected by the Great God—truly, the affinity is profound."
Interpretation: Only saw the golden bridge stop before the crowd and then remain motionless; obviously it came to receive and guide; Qi couldn't help but feel stunned, saying: "Originally, this fated person is such a fated method, the Great God personally selected, truly the affinity is not shallow."
Obviously it had come for Jieyin.
Thus: "Seeing the golden bridge stop before everyone and then remain still, it was clearly come for Jieyin. Qi couldn't help but feel stunned, saying: 'As it turns out, this fated person is selected by such a fated method; the Great God personally chose them—truly, the affinity is not shallow.'"
The Great God personally selected them.
This scene also clearly exceeded the expectations of Nüwa and the others; if it were people doing the choosing, what could be said about affinity, and what kind of opportunity would that be?

Nüwa.
Moreover, the five raised no objections, nor did they put on airs by refusing to board the bridge; saving effort is always good.
Interpretation: However, the five also did not express any objection, nor did they deliberately act aloof, performing the act of not boarding the bridge; saving some effort is always good.
Translate: "However, the five raised no objection, nor did they put on airs by refusing to board the bridge—saving effort is always good."
Refusing to bridge the board.
The golden bridge halted before the crowd and then remained motionless; obviously it had come for Jieyin. Qi, unable to restrain himself, exclaimed: "It turns out these fated individuals are precisely this kind of fated method, personally selected by the Great God—truly, the affinity is profound."

Stepping onto the golden bridge, they felt no disturbance and saw countless chaotic qi streaming away behind them; no matter how vast those storms, the five on the bridge felt not the slightest effect.
Interpretation: Stepping onto the golden bridge, they felt no abnormality; they saw countless chaos qi flowing away behind them; no matter how huge those storms were, they could not make the five people on the bridge feel anything.

Qi, seeing this, couldn't help but exclaim: "Great God Hongjun truly lives up to being the primordial top innate divine sage of the wilderness; having endured through the ages, his treasures astonish even heaven and man."

Fuxi felt a twinge of envy; among the five, his possessions were the poorest. Though his Fuxi lute is a supreme innate spiritual treasure and a top‑grade wilderness item, compared to the others it still looked rather shabby.

Their speed on the golden bridge far outpaced Qi and the others' random searching; upon reaching the gate of the Purple Cloud Palace, Qi realized they were the first to arrive.
Translate: "The speed on the golden bridge was far greater than Qi and the others' random searching; only upon reaching the gate of Zixiao Palace did Qi realize they were the first to arrive."
When they arrived, only two child attendants stood before the hall's gate—a boy and a girl—both looking like finely carved jade.

Haotian, Yaochi, greetings, five fellow Daoists.

Seeing their aura was complete, Qi and the others knew they were also innate divine sages; noting their perfect etiquette, they returned the salute with clasped hands.

Seeing Qi and the others return the salute, the two seemed never to have experienced this before, appearing extremely delighted; their smiles could not be concealed.

However, the Haotian child needed to be more composed; he collected his smile and spoke solemnly: "Please wait a moment, fellow Daoists; the lecture has not yet begun, the hall doors cannot yet open, but there is a pavilion nearby where you may rest."

As Haotian pointed with his small hand to the side, a platform emerged from the chaos; its surroundings were even more picturesque, with flowers, birds, fish, and insects all present.
Translate: "As Haotian pointed with his small hand to the side, a terrace emerged from the Chaos, its scenery beautiful, with flowers, birds, fish, and insects all present."
Qi and the others looked in that direction and saw that it was not merely a platform, but clearly a small world.

Seeing that everyone was somewhat startled, the self‑satisfied expression on Haotian and Yaochi's faces became even more evident.

It turns out Qi had underestimated you fellow Daoists; now it seems you are quite capable.

Although they knew this was certainly not the children's doing, with idle time on their hands, Qi found it hard to resist teasing the youngsters a little.
Translate: "Although I know this is certainly not their doing, with nothing to do, Qi found it rare to have the leisure to tease the children a bit."
Seeing Qi's misunderstanding, Haotian and Yaochi hurried to explain: "You have misunderstood, fellow Daoist; we two have never possessed such a heaven‑reaching method; all of this is the teacher's accomplishment."
Translate: "Seeing Qi's misunderstanding, Haotian and Yaochi hurried to explain: 'Fellow Daoist, you have misunderstood; we possess no such heaven-reaching ability—all this is our teacher's doing.'"
While speaking, Haotian and Yaochi's faces were solemn, as if truly worried that Qi might misunderstand; every word and deed was proper and upright, leaving a favorable impression.

Seeing the pair's adorable appearance and proper conduct, Nüwa also felt playful and began to tease them.

So that's it—did Great God Hongjun not teach you two any mighty divine powers? It now seems he was rather stingy.

Nüwa smiled with her eyes, and Emperor Jun and the others nodded solemnly; this behavior made the pale little faces of Haotian and Yaochi flush red in a hurry, and they hurried to explain.
Translate: "Nüwa's brows and eyes held a smile; Di Jun and the others nodded seriously, and this made Haotian and Yaochi's pale little faces flush red in haste as they hurried to explain:"

Seeing that the crowd had no intention of stopping, Haotian and Yaochi suddenly thought of escaping; Haotian then said: "Please, fellow Daoists, take a brief rest on the platform; I and Yaochi still have some matters to attend to and must welcome the later arrivals who come to listen to the lecture, so we will not entertain you further."

Please, fellow Daoist, go sit awhile in the pavilion; I will later bring the spiritual fruits, wine, and food.

Having said that, they hurriedly ran off with Yaochi; their hurried little steps made the five burst out laughing.

Seeing that they were truly shy, it was no longer appropriate to tease them; the five all went onto the platform and began discussing this lecture.

Who knows what doctrine Great God Hongjun will expound this time—he has even announced it to the world; given his reputation, it is surely not something easily learned.

Translate: "Fuxi spoke gently, his words full of anticipation; the ancient ancestor Hongjun's reputation in the wilderness is too great, so a lecture proclaimed to the world must surely be a grand event for the wilderness."
His words surely carry meaning; Fuxi even speculated whether Hongjun had already attained the Grand Unity and was preparing to lecture on the Grand Unity Dao amidst the chaos this time.
Translate: "His words must have substance; Fuxi even speculated whether Hongjun had already attained the Mixed Yuan, preparing to lecture on the Mixed Yuan Great Dao in the Chaos this time."

In the past, Great God Hongjun has been striving to spread the Dao of the Immortals, and in my view, this time is likely no different.'"
Emperor Jun nodded; Taiyi's words indeed held such possibility, after all, propagating the Immortal Dao has always been a major undertaking of Great God Hongjun, yet hoping to lecture on the Grand Unity Dao remains overly slim.

Translate: "As they conversed, another golden bridge emerged from the outer great hall of Zixiao Palace, its controller being none other than Haotian and Yaochi."
Seeing Qi and the others gazing intently, Haotian and Yaochi no longer felt shy; after activating the golden bridge, they brought lingzhi fruit wine and said, "Fellow Daoists, you have waited long; the food and drink have arrived—please enjoy at your leisure, and if you need more, just summon us."

【203】
Translate: "Qi, somewhat curious, asked: 'Two fellow Daoists, I saw you earlier activate a golden bridge to guide people; amidst the Chaos, even a storm causes no damage—is this a combined technique? Are there any particulars to it?'"
Haotian seemed to have known that Qi and the others would raise this question, and he explained softly: "This golden bridge emanates from my master's treasure, the Lingbao Taiji Diagram; its offense and defense are united, making it an innate supreme treasure—with such power, chaos cannot invade it."
Translate: "Haotian seemed to have long anticipated this question from Qi and the others, and he explained softly: 'This golden bridge comes from the spiritual treasure, the Taiji Diagram, possessed by my master; it integrates offense and defense, being an innate supreme treasure; with such power, the Chaos naturally cannot invade.'"
【209】
Translate: '"As for the details thereof, we two do not know; our master merely had us activate this treasure six times outside the great hall to guide six fated individuals."'

Translate: '"As for who are the fated ones, we also do not know; after our master said these six activations, the lecture should be about to begin."'
【215】
Translate: "Only then did Qi realize that the golden bridge is not accessible to everyone; it also depends on one's fortune, whether it can catch the eye of the Great God Hongjun."
Inwardly, they also felt somewhat reassured about the opportunity of this lecture; after all, if the attendees were entirely chosen by that being, even listening to the Dao would not bring peace of mind.

Translate: "After a brief explanation, the Haotian and Yaochi attendants, worried that the crowd would continue teasing, immediately bade farewell and returned to the great hall; Qi and the others felt nothing unusual, for they were originally child attendants of Zixiao Palace, and entering early was quite normal."
Seeing them depart, Qi and the others returned to the original topic, only to hear Qi say: "You two are being too absolute; perhaps Great God Hongjun has already unveiled the Immortal Dao's Grand Unity method and intends to reveal it during the three lectures."
Translate: "Seeing them depart, Qi and the others returned to the original topic, only to hear Qi say: 'You two are being too absolute; perhaps the Great God Hongjun has opened up an Immortal-Mixed Yuan method, intending to declare it in the three lectures.'"
【227】
Translate: '"That way, the Immortal Dao could be widely spread, and it would also satisfy the wilderness beings' expectation of his lecture."'
Although Qi said that, he himself did not believe Great God Hongjun could do so; the transmission of the Divine Dao has long endured, yet to this day no Grand Unity Dao has been spread, let alone the Immortal Dao.
Translate: "Although Qi said so, he did not really believe the Great God Hongjun could do that; the transmission of the God Dao has long existed, yet to this day the Mixed Yuan Great Dao has not been spread, let alone the Immortal Dao."
【233】
Translate: "That vague memory from the beginning is not worth believing; after all, in the primordial recollection of the wilderness, the setting was chaos, but never such a situation."
Consider that even the founding of the Heavenly Court occurred long ago; the demon race never existed, and the witch race had already joined the Heavenly Court long before—at least from the present view, the Divine Dao has not waned, while immortals and demons are merely minor paths.

Translate: "Di Jun laughed directly:"
"How could the world possess such a perfect method? Even now, how the Divine Dao achieves Grand Unity remains unknown, and the Immortal Dao is still in its infancy—how could it possibly transcend the Divine?"

Translate: '"Yet for us innate divine sages, time may flee like a white colt through a gap, but has it ever left even a trace upon you and me?"'
Nüwa further declared: "If the Immortal Dao wishes to supplant the Divine Dao's status, it must first resolve the disparity in combat strength between the two."

Translate: '"Take us, for example; ordinary Golden Immortals of the Great Luo level, though their realms are equal, even a brother inept at conquest can still withstand ten foes with strength to spare—and even saying one against ten is modest; taking Taiyi as an example, facing a hundred is no idle boast."'
With such a gap, how could the Immortal Dao possibly replace the Divine Dao?
What Nüwa said is exactly the biggest flaw of the current Immortal and Demonic Dao; although the Divine Dao is difficult to cultivate and rejects the vast majority of beings in the Wilderness, as long as there are still cultivators of the Divine Dao, Immortals and Demons will ultimately find it hard to contend with it.
As her words shifted, Nüwa added: "Although the Great God Hongjun is also extraordinary, I do not believe it, yet he has already created the Immortal Dao's Mixed Yuan method; however, I believe his way to make up for combat strength already has a clue."
I suppose that in this lecture, the Great God Hongjun should be promoting this method; otherwise, if it is not the Mixed Yuan Great Dao, I fear the beings of the Wilderness will be disappointed, and next time he wishes to gather all the top talents of the Wilderness for the lecture, which would then be difficult.
Taiyi nodded from the side, obviously approving Nüwa's analysis, his eyes showing a bit of interest, thinking in his heart that if such a method truly existed, the Wilderness would surely become lively again.
By then, perhaps he could find a few opponents, not limited to sparring with Qi; Taiyi only hopes that the subsequent events will not disappoint him.
In the midst of the people's conversation, only the Golden Bridge descended again, bearing just one person—still Yuanshi, the Jade Pure Daoist of the Three Pure Ones.
Out of curiosity, Qi opened his mouth to ask:
"It turns out to be Fellow Daoist Yuanshi in person; the Three Pure Ones have always been one entity, so why are the Dao De and Lingbao Daoists not present?"
Yuanshi saw that it was Qi, Di Jun, and several others, and likewise opened his mouth to offer a salute:
"I have greeted the Emperor, Emperor Qi, Emperor Fuxi, Emperor Nüwa, and Emperor Donghuang; I originally thought that being guided by the Golden Bridge would make me the fastest, but I did not expect the five Majesties to arrive first, thus I have been remiss."
"As for Your Majesty Qi's question, there is nothing much to conceal; I originally set out with my elder brother and younger brother into Chaos, but unfortunately encountered a Chaos Storm, and helplessly was scattered by it, thus causing the Majesties to laugh."
During the conversation, some people also arrived spontaneously without crossing the Golden Bridge; the newcomers were even familiar to everyone, being personnel of the Heavenly Court.
General Guangshun of the Thunder Department, the God-General who responds to the call to subdue might, General Xieche, holds the Five Thunder Command and specializes in subduing demons and exterminating evil.
He had just arrived outside the Hall of the Purple Cloud Palace when he saw Yuanshi and Qi's five companions, and immediately bowed in greeting:
"Thunder Department God-General Guangshun, the God-General who responds to the call to subdue might, General Xieche, greets the Five Majesties, King Yuanshi of Heaven; I wish all Majesties myriad peace, and may the Great Dao of King Yuanshi of Heaven be transmitted."
The Three Pure Ones had already entered the Heavenly Court together; it was Di Jun and Taiyi who personally invited them, with Fuxi and Nüwa following along, thus they were summoned into the Heavenly Court to take an idle post, receiving a share of the fortune.
Although the liaison between the two sides is not tight, belonging to those who can detach at any time, yet they have ultimately joined the Heavenly Court and can be considered colleagues.
In terms of position, although it is an idle post with no oversight of the Heavenly Court's affairs, its status is still quite high; few in the Wilderness can match it, and even the so-called Ten Great Generals are not much inferior in rank.
Otherwise, they probably would not have joined the Heavenly Court; the invitation by Di Jun and others was merely a show of strength.
Seeing Xieche arrive so quickly, Di Jun could not help but ask curiously:
"General Xieche, rise quickly; you are a pillar of the Heavenly Court, no need for so many formalities."
"However, General, by what route did you come, your speed is astonishingly fast, nearly matching ours; if it is a secret, you may decline to answer."
Worried that Xieche might have some secret he does not want outsiders to know, Di Jun additionally gave him a reason to refuse.
However, Shezhe obviously didn't need it; seeing him reply with a hint of naivety, he said: "Reporting to the Heavenly Emperor, Purple Dawn Palace is not far from the Primordial Wild; this humble servant has only just entered Chaos, and I saw Purple Dawn Palace merely a few thousand years' journey away—just flying as usual, I arrived directly."
Upon hearing this, not to mention Qi and the five, even Yuanshi was somewhat surprised; the three brothers had entered Chaos early on, and also encountered a Chaos storm, and if it weren't for the Golden Bridge Jieyin, they would probably still be searching along the way.
Who would have thought that this Divine General Shezhe would have such fortune, without even needing to seek, Purple Dawn Palace appeared directly before his eyes.
Qi also felt somewhat speechless; even they had wandered aimlessly in Chaos for three thousand years, and it was only thanks to the Golden Bridge Jieyin—otherwise who knows how long it would have taken.
"Traversing Chaos is arduous; please come here and rest a moment, awaiting the lecture; if any colleagues arrive later, you shall receive them."
Qi's voice rang out, and Shezhe immediately performed a salute, saying:
"Shezhe receives the order; I will surely not fail the task entrusted by Emperor Qi."
Qi casually pointed outside the pavilion, and instantly Chaos transformed, becoming a landscape of mountains and waters, within which spiritual fruits and fine wines were countless, to serve as a resting place for the denizens of the Heavenly Court.
