Hongjun bestowed the treasures and then said, 'Soon I will merge with the Dao; under the Heavenly Dao, there are still several holy positions; those who enter the Profound Sect may seize this opportunity.'

Without waiting for everyone's reaction, Hongjun began to expound the Method of Severing the Three Corpses, explaining the crucial points of how to sever them and how to reintegrate them into one.
When Hongjun's gaze fell upon Jieyin's body, he had already lost his previous enthusiasm; like with Kunpeng, he merely gave a few high-grade innate spiritual treasures and sent him away.
However, unlike with Kunpeng, among the spiritual treasures Hongjun gave Jieyin, there was one that was somewhat special, namely the one previously seized from Rahu's hand.
This treasure is precisely the World-Ending Black Lotus, which was formerly one of the innate twelve-grade lotus pedestals; alas, after several struggles, it was again refined by Hongjun, and now it has dropped three grades.
Moreover, it also lost its former form, transforming into an innate ninth-grade merit golden lotus; the previous demonic aura was completely washed away.
However, fortunately its foundation is deep; if cultivated with merit, or if reforged with magic, it is not impossible to return to its peak twelfth grade.
Hongjun, observing Jieyin's Dao, knew that this person would ultimately have no affinity with the Profound Gate; even if he entered now, he would eventually betray and leave the gate.
Hence he took a dislike to him, disregarded his talent, and merely accepted him as an outer disciple.
Kunpeng, however, had a somewhat inferior fate and destiny compared to the others, but fortunately had a noble person's help, adding a bit to his fortune.
However, his foundation was ultimately shallow, so he could only be an outer disciple; moreover, unlike Jieyin, he had not been favored by fortune, and his current position is already rare and precious.
Hongjun bestowed the treasures and then spoke: "Soon I will unite with the Dao; under the Heavenly Dao, there remain several saintly positions; those who enter the Profound Gate may seize this opportunity."
"I hold seven strands of Hongmeng purple qi; the Profound Gate may decide six of them, leaving the remaining one to follow its natural course."
Having spoken, six strands of purple light flew out; upon appearing, they shone with brilliant light, manifesting the Great Dao, just as before when lecturing on the Dao.
The Hongmeng purple qi fell into the hands of the Three Pure Ones, Kunpeng, Nüwa, and Jieyin; the six instantly rejoiced exceedingly, hurriedly rose and bowed in thanks: "Many thanks for the teacher's gift!"
Hongjun slightly nodded; another strand of Hongmeng purple qi flew from his sleeve, circling above everyone's heads, and finally went back and forth above Red Cloud and Zhunti.
Everyone's gaze closely followed the Hongmeng purple qi, wanting to understand its choice, but ultimately it landed in Zhunti's hand.
Red Cloud felt somewhat disappointed, but nevertheless forced himself, gritting his teeth, to say: "Congratulations, Daoist Zhunti, having been favored by fortune, you may enjoy this treasure; future sainthood is to be expected; may you soon attain the Dao of Heavenly Unity."
Zhunti was overjoyed, repeatedly giving thanks; in his excited speech, hot tears filled his eyes.
Seeing this, Hongjun's eyes gained a bit more disappointment, but he said nothing, merely speaking: "Before, you asked me whether I had a method to teach you to attain the Dao; now that everything is settled, please listen to my words."
Without waiting for everyone's reaction, Hongjun began to expound the method of cutting the three corpses, explaining the crucial points, how to cut them out, and how to reintegrate them into one.
Upon hearing Hongjun's words, everyone learned that cutting the three corpses requires entrusting them to a spiritual treasure, preferably something of the same origin; hearing this, they were startled.
After Hongjun finished explaining the crucial points, an innate deity in the field burst into tears, saying:
"The method taught by the Patriarch is indeed exquisite. However, we differ from outsiders, and we have received no gift from the teacher; we are extremely poor, possessing hardly any spiritual treasure."
"We have painfully sought the Great Dao without success; today we finally see a glimmer of hope, yet we are again confined by ourselves, our fate and nature shallow, truly a sorrow!"
"The Patriarch once said that those who come to listen to this Dao all enter the Profound Gate. We are merely inferior to several senior brothers, but we are not common folk either."
"I, who sleep, am not favored by the teacher, yet we are all members of the Profound Gate; how can the teacher be so partial?"
After his words fell, that Daoist spoke no more, merely shedding tears incessantly, choking silently.
Upon hearing this, the people in the field also felt sorrow welling up; although they did not utter consolation, fearing to offend Hongjun, the atmosphere was also extremely heavy.
Hongjun let out a long sigh, his eyes full of compassion; after surveying everyone, he spoke: "You are all members of my Profound Gate, able to enter this place—how could there be anyone with shallow roots? How can you so belittle yourselves?"
"The teacher also knows that you are now suffering; yet as members of the Profound Gate, how could I harbor partiality in my heart?"
"In the past, I have lived a few years longer than you and accumulated some reserves; now I am about to unite with the Heavenly Dao, and those will no longer be of use."
"For now, they are all placed outside the the the Zixiao Palace on the Treasure-Fall Cliff; please help yourselves."
Upon hearing Hongjun's words, the people below then eased the atmosphere, rose, and bowed in unison: "We thank the teacher."
Hongjun sighed once, his form gradually disappearing; before he vanished, the people only heard him say: "From now on, Hongjun is the Heavenly Dao, and the Heavenly Dao is not Hongjun."
"And remember, misfortune and fortune have no door; they are self-invoked; thereafter you must cultivate with good intent."
The people rose again, bowing deeply:
"We respectfully see off the teacher."
The gate of the the the Zixiao Palace slowly opened; everyone immediately flew out, and Qi Ran was no exception.
Relying on their superior cultivation, Qi Ran and Taiyi Fuxi were the first to reach the Treasure-Fall Cliff; Qi Ran acted extremely swiftly, instantly gathering over ten spiritual treasures at once.
Moreover, the quality was quite high; they were all high-grade innate spiritual treasures. However, fortunately Qi Ran still wanted to keep face; after taking some of the best ones, he refrained from further action.
Taiyi and Fuxi were much the same, each also collecting over ten high-grade innate spiritual treasures.
Afterwards came Nüwa, the Three Pure Ones, Jieyin, Kunpeng, and others; apart from Jieyin and the spiritual treasures, they did not take much; each took over twenty.
The worst among them were medium-grade innate spiritual treasures, yet their quality was extremely excellent, not far inferior to high-grade ones.
Had it not been for the dissatisfied gazes of the crowd, which made those two worry about provoking public anger, they probably would not have wanted to stop.
Di Jun was only a moment slower than a few people; the essence on the Treasure-Fall Cliff had already been taken away by more than half; Di Jun was somewhat annoyed, so he simply swept away over thirty medium-grade spiritual treasures.
Besides that, Di Jun also took over ten kinds of spiritual roots, spanning high, medium, and low grades.
Afterwards came the main force arriving together; under mutual contention, each person only obtained two or three items, mostly of medium-low grade.
This caused some dissatisfaction among the people toward those who arrived first; however, the Heavenly Court wielded great power, and the Three Pure Ones were a united entity, making them hard to provoke, so they could only vent their anger on Jieyin.
After collecting the treasures, the people had not yet left; a few tried to take the rock along as well, but ultimately could not move it, and could only feel greatly disappointed.
Seeing how many treasures Jieyin had taken, the people could not help but feel displeased; one person spoke in a sarcastic tone: "Some beggars from the West, who usually just sweep the autumn wind across the Eastern Continent, now that they have come to the the the Zixiao Palace, are still like this."
"One person occupying so much, without considering the fellowship of the same gate, is truly shameless and thick-skinned, utterly lacking in manners."
The spiritual treasure Daoist, although knowing this was not directed at him, but seeing that he too had taken many treasures, could not help but blush.
Upon hearing those words that almost named him directly, Jieyin still showed a sorrowful expression, unchanged, merely saying: "This treasure is fated with me; it rightly belongs in the West."
No sooner had his words fallen than he and Zhunti turned and left happily, showing no trace of guilt, leaving the crowd and the spiritual treasure Daoist staring agape, unsure what to say.
"With such a thick face, it's no wonder he could remain unmoved and leave cheerfully; truly a capable person."
After a few moments, someone sighed, looked back, and discovered that the the the Zixiao Palace was nowhere to be seen; only then did the people happily return to the Wilderness.
The lecture also ended here; many innate deities gained something; Qi Ran, however, separated from Di Jun, Taiyi, and others, saying he still had some affairs in Chaos, and thus did not return together.
Qi Ran then waited in Chaos for ten thousand years; after sensing that those who had been guarding outside the the the Zixiao Palace had all departed, he alone returned to the former site of the the the Zixiao Palace.
As soon as Qi Ran arrived, he saw the the the Zixiao Palace emerge from Chaos, its main hall gate wide open, as if awaiting visitors; he merely glanced at it, then strode straight inside.
Upon reaching the main hall, he rose and immediately saw Hongjun seated on the dais, slightly raising his hand in a salute, saying:
Qi, have you met the Dao Ancestor?
Hongjun merely smiled faintly; a futon appeared on the other side of the cloud terrace, inviting Qi to sit, saying:
Dao friend, there's no need for us to be so distant; although you have entered the Daoist sect, you are not my disciple.
Qi didn't mind, and sat together on the cloud terrace, laughing as he said:
The Dao Ancestor smiled and said, "Since I have entered the Daoist sect, though I am not his disciple, I still have some incense ties. As the Dao Ancestor is honored as the head of the Daoist sect, there is naturally a difference."
Hongjun gave a helpless smile, secretly thinking, "I have never seen you feel there is a difference; if you truly felt that way, how could you sit alongside me?"
Hongjun cast aside his distracting thoughts; this time he specially invited you to resolve karma, not to quibble over such matters.
Dao friend, since you came upon invitation, you must have given thought to my earlier words.
I wonder if Dao friend is willing to walk the Heavenly Dao and contend for this position of sage?
As Hongjun spoke, another strand of Primordial Purple Qi drifted from his sleeve, hovering between the two.
Qi slightly raised his hand, and the Primordial Purple Qi fell into his palm, allowing him to examine it closely.
Dao friend, if you still cannot decide now, you might as well contemplate here for a while; though the the the Zixiao Palace is not as luxurious as the Heavenly Court, it has the advantage of tranquility.
Hongjun showed a smile, but in his heart he already felt little hope; his invitation for Qi to contemplate was merely a final effort.
Qi merely hesitated a little, but ultimately refused Hongjun's effort, revealing a hint of regret and helplessness as he said:
Qi first thanks the Dao Ancestor for his generosity, but I worry that if I truly contemplate, I may be unable to let go of this.
Since I set out in the wilderness, I have received much favor from the Great God Yangmei; associating with him has brought great gains.
The Great God regards me as the successor of the divine path; I also have some thoughts on this, and the divine path has endured long in the wilderness, and should not be cut off in our hands.
Even without the Primordial Purple Qi, I still have some resolve to prove the Dao and attain the Chaos Yuan; I should certainly give it a try.
If not, the heart cannot be at peace; cultivators, seekers of the Dao, the road is not yet finished—how could we make a change?
Qi's voice rose proudly; Hongjun, however, showed a smiling face and laughed loudly, saying:
With such lofty ambition, this humble Daoist cannot match it; since you have this heart, I will lend a hand—this Primordial Purple Qi shall be considered a loan to you.
After one eon, this humble Daoist will retrieve it; during this period, you, Dao friend, may contemplate as you wish.
Faced with Hongjun's such generosity, Qi instead felt a hint of hesitation; seeing this, Hongjun laughed and said:
Although this humble Daoist is now the Dao Lord, having founded the Dao of Immortals, previously I too was a primordial deity; for a Dao friend to have such resolve and to assist a little is quite normal.
Seeing Qi still looking hesitant, Hongjun seemed to think of something, and couldn't help but chuckle, saying:
This does not count as karma; moreover, when you find the legacy of a primordial deity named Hongjun, it will have nothing to do with the Dao Ancestor Hongjun.
Seeing Hongjun's sincere intention, Qi then bowed in thanks, saying:
Qi, many thanks to Great God Hongjun.
Upon hearing these words, Hongjun's heart filled with myriad feelings; after a long while he said, "If so, how do you intend to handle the karma that I originally owed?"
This time Qi did not hesitate, but spoke directly:
Now, as the Heavenly Court is the protagonist of heaven and earth, I, together with Di Jun, Taiyi, Fuxi, and Nüwa—four Dao friends—are already caught in the vortex; without a great calamity, there is nothing under heaven to contend for.
But should a great calamity descend in the future, I fear it would not be easy to escape.
I have my own means to face the great calamity, but I am truly worried about those few friends of mine.
Regarding the karma mentioned earlier by the Dao Ancestor, I intend to exchange it so that the Dao Lord may protect them when the great calamity arrives.
Not to speak of keeping them safe from the calamity, at least it would allow their true spirits to endure, leaving a chance to return.
Hongjun was stunned upon hearing this; he had intended to agree, but the Creation Jade Butterfly suddenly emitted purple light, drawing both of their attention.
Qi did not know the reason, but Hongjun, after a brief calculation, then said, "Preserving these few people is not difficult, but the karmic entanglements among them prevent me from intervening."
But this humble Daoist is not refusing to acknowledge the debt; I will explain the reasons to you, and furthermore I will give you several options.
As for how to decide, it is up to you, Dao friend.
After Hongjun finished speaking, Qi felt somewhat surprised.
In Qi's view, Hongjun has now reached the Chaos Yuan Great Luo Golden Immortal; protecting them should not be difficult, yet looking at Hongjun's attitude, could there still be a change? Hongjun then continued speaking:
What you think is not mistaken, but the current situation is different.
Qi slightly furrowed his brows, his gaze fixed on Hongjun, the confusion in his eyes plainly visible.
Hongjun naturally knew why Qi was puzzled, and gave a wry smile, explaining:
In your view, a single word from this humble Daoist decides the position of sage; though the Primordial Purple Qi is precious, I also regard it as an ordinary commodity.
But there are hidden aspects you are unaware of, and the position of sage is certainly not something I can decide.
Within the Daoist sect there are six sages, but this is merely due to some methods employed by this humble Daoist, letting them accrue Daoist sect karma; they are all heaven-ordained.
Those capable of bearing the sage's position sense this opportunity and emerge into the world; without this humble Daoist's extra efforts, they would naturally respond to the call.
This humble Daoist's distribution of Primordial Purple Qi in the the the Zixiao Palace is merely a clever trick.
Look at those two in the West; they were originally of the same Dao, sharing fortune, born as Dao partners, they ought to sit together on the mat, and in the future they could be worthy of the sage's position.
Although there have been setbacks now, causing one of them unable to take a seat and not enter the Daoist sect, the Heavenly Dao also gives them an opportunity.
Otherwise, with this humble Daoist's methods, those two would have no affinity with the Daoist sect, and how could the sage's position possibly be associated with them?
Upon first hearing this secret, Qi was astonished beyond measure, but he did not know how this related to what he had just said.
