Chapter 252: with translation of chapter title
252. Chapter 252: The Saint's Deficiency
Qi merely gave it a little thought, then picked a blue gourd that matched his water nature; Qi intended to nurture a pure divine light within it.
Imitating the divine ability Taiyi previously developed, except that the divine ability nurtured within is different; it only needs time to accumulate, to be gradually honed, and in the future it will be extraordinary.
However, Qi's pure divine light differs in effect from the divine ability Taiyi developed; how it will turn out in the future, a comparison between the two remains unknown for now.
Afterwards, Di Jun chose a yellow gourd, which is yang in nature; he originally wanted Taiyi, this fated person, to choose first, but was refused.
According to Taiyi's words:
"Fated objects will naturally fall into my hands; outsiders cannot take them."
The result was not beyond Taiyi's expectation; the purple-red gourd Taiyi wanted to pick ultimately remained.
Seeing that everyone had finished picking, the Three Pure Ones and Hongyun Zhenyuanzi exchanged a few congratulatory remarks and then left; as for the remaining green vines and the fertile soil, they sensibly did not contend over them.
After all, this place is beneath the gate of the Heavenly Realm; to obtain a treasure is already a great generosity on their part; the green vines stripped from the gourd have withered, and although they remain remarkable, compared to the treasure they are rather mundane.
Since the core treasure has already been obtained, it is better not to contend with the Heavenly Court over these minor branches and leaves.
Although the fertile soil is precious, it is of little use to them; contending over it would only bring them disgrace.
Qi and the others originally wanted Fuxi to take it, but in the end Fuxi refused, feeling it was of little use, and it fell into Nüwa's hands.
"Qi, the Heavenly Court hopes you will preside over it for a moment; you need not worry about anything else, Fuxi will assist you in holding control, you are the most clear-headed regarding the situation of heaven and earth, with the Heavenly Court in your hands I can rest easy."
Di Jun's face was rather solemn; although he had obtained a treasure, it could only be considered an incidental gain, irrelevant to the larger picture.
Qi's face showed difficulty; after a slight hesitation he spoke to refuse:
"I too am about to prepare for secluded cultivation; you do not know, previously the Dao Ancestor owed me karmic debt, and thus lent me a strand of Hongmeng Purple Qi."
"Time is limited; after three yuan meetings the deadline for return arrives; to give up contemplating would be too wasteful of heavenly treasures."
Qi again comforted: "Di Jun, you need not worry at all; the Heavenly Court has Fuxi and Taiyi, so the outside world will surely not fall into chaos."
"You and Nüwa can rest assured in your secluded cultivation; today the Heavenly Court's plans are all complete, and barring any major upheaval, the Heavenly Court will surely be as stable as Mount Tai."
"With Fuxi presiding over the Heavenly Court and Taiyi assisting, the two Grand Unity Daoists are present day after day, so external evils will not dare to disturb."
"As for the Immortal Court and the Wu Clan, their mutual conflict is far greater than that concerning the Heavenly Court."
"As long as the Heavenly Court operates correctly, the two will inevitably be opposed; after all, given the popularity of the two Westerners on the Eastern continent, I do not believe there would be so many Great Luo aiding them."
Speaking to this point, Qi's face showed confidence; every Great Luo Golden Immortal must endure tribulations and undergo arduous cultivation before attaining such a realm.
Every person's growth trajectory lies within the Heavenly Court's sight; this group of Great Luo Golden Immortals, having no connection with the West, entered the West and fought the Wu Clan.
Qi does not believe it could happen without external interference; and now, in the wilderness, besides the Heavenly Court, only the male immortal chief personally appointed by the Dao Ancestor, Dong Wanggong, possesses such ability.
At that time, Qi went to challenge Dong Wanggong; his aim was not merely to give him a beating, but to ascertain whether his followers resembled those who supported the West.
The result was not beyond Qi's expectation; their trajectories largely overlapped, so those who had long opposed the Twelve Ancestor Wu in the West naturally surfaced.
Qi did not plainly tell Emperor Jiang; instead, he guided Hou Tu to discover it herself, then had her relay it, so as to erase any trace of the Heavenly Court's interference.
Di Jun also knows Hongmeng Purple Qi is precious; since time is limited, he naturally will not make a demanding request; now that the situation is thus, the Heavenly Court can only rely on Fuxi and Taiyi.
Di Jun actually does not worry that Fuxi will make mistakes; he merely worries that Fuxi cannot restrain Taiyi.
After all, given Taiyi's temperament, asking him to face those myriad tribes' insects with equanimity is probably harder than an ordinary person climbing Mount Buzhou.
Di Jun is somewhat worried about this; if those people really provoke Taiyi, he fears Taiyi will pay no heed and directly strike them down.
Or if the Immortal Court is suddenly established, and some arrogant fellows lightly provoke him, Taiyi will directly strike out, falling into others' schemes.
Regarding Taiyi's safety, he naturally does not worry; Di Jun only worries that Taiyi is too strong, and then those reactionary forces in the outside world will recognize this and be forced to unite altogether.
Although the Heavenly Court is powerful, it has not yet reached the point where it can disregard them; once Taiyi acts and lets them see the bottom, there will be too many changes.
Qi directed his gaze at Taiyi's person; Di Jun did likewise, and Fuxi immediately reacted as well, making Taiyi feel somewhat bewildered.
Although Nüwa did not know why, upon seeing this scene she inexplicably felt a bit amused and laughed out loud.
Taiyi also immediately reacted, somewhat annoyed and angry, saying to Di Jun: "Brother, so you think Fuxi cannot control the Heavenly Court, and the biggest reason is me?"
"Fuxi is also my good friend; he holds the Heavenly Court, how could I possibly have any objections?"
Upon these words, not to mention Nüwa, even Qi laughed out loud; Di Jun and Fuxi were somewhat helpless, and Fuxi even gave a wry smile, saying:
"Taiyi, Di Jun worries that I cannot control the Heavenly Court not because he fears you will oppose, but because he fears I cannot restrain you when you are above me."
"And this is precisely my concern, Taiyi; you are ultimately too pure, your understanding of politics is too superficial, yet your strength is too great."
"This is precisely the most unstable point within the Heavenly Court."
Only then did Taiyi react, his gaze focusing on Di Jun's person; after a while he said: "Regarding those insects, I can only guarantee one thing: they must not appear before me; as long as that holds, unless Fuxi speaks, I will not act."
Only then did Di Jun let out a breath of relief; but before he could fully relax, he heard Taiyi speak again:
"As for elder brother, you may rest assured in your secluded cultivation breakthrough; once you enter the Grand Unity Dao, we can then exchange a few pointers."
Having said that, without waiting for Di Jun's response, he promptly flew toward the Heavenly Realm; Qi and Nüwa closely followed, saying: "Taiyi, wait a moment for us; when the time comes, remember to strike lightly, so as not to interfere with his handling of affairs."
Only Di Jun and Fuxi remained, standing face to face on this white expanse; looking at Di Jun's pitiable appearance, Fuxi merely shrugged helplessly and said: "Rather than staring at me like this, you might as well ask Qi; perhaps he has a method, after all, everyone knows I cannot rein in Taiyi."
Having said that, Fuxi also transformed into a streak of escaping light, catching up to the leading Taiyi and saying: "This is your elder brother's idea; it has nothing to do with me, but I truly trust you."
Di Jun, who had waited a long time in place, seeing that no one had returned and hearing Fuxi's remarks, could not help but laugh and scold: "Truly worthy of good brothers, not a single one with any sense of loyalty!"
Thereupon he employed the Golden Crow Rainbow Transformation technique, chasing after those already far away; Di Jun thought, for the sake of the Heavenly Court's great undertaking, he ultimately could only suffer himself.
After returning to the Heavenly Realm, Nüwa directly went back to the Nüwa Emperor's Palace, gave a few instructions to the azure birds, then began secluded cultivation to contemplate the Hongmeng Purple Qi.
Faced with everyone's gradual advancement, although Nüwa still appeared playful and cheerful, her heart also felt a sense of loss.
Taiyi's words merely placed it out in the open, depriving Nüwa of space to evade or comfort herself; yet precisely because of this, it gave Nüwa the resolve to rise and pursue directly.
"The teacher once said, among the treasures he bestowed, there is one concerning my future merit, but it is ultimately merely an external path."
"For a cultivator, the path to the Dao ultimately must be walked by oneself; merit is merely a minor way."
"Once I enter the Grand Unity Dao, all merit will naturally be obtainable; since it concerns me, it is merely a matter of time—just a brief moment, and what of waiting a little longer?"
Nüwa murmured to herself in the quiet chamber; the Hongmeng Purple Qi emitted a faint glow, and Nüwa's primordial spirit immediately appeared, as she contemplated its profound mysteries.
With the vigorous qi fortune of the Heavenly Court lending support, as Nüwa immersed herself therein, the faint glow of Hongmeng Purple Qi surrounding her became increasingly solid.
And Nüwa likewise sank into a deeper level of comprehension, unaware of the changes in time.
Qi was the same; his physical body sat cross-legged on the Lotus Platform, his primordial spirit manifested, a sense of purity spread out, faintly harmonizing with the Innate Twelfth-Grade Pure World White Lotus.
The World-Opening White Jade Tablet and the Water Splendor Awakening World Drum resonated with the Lotus Platform; in the quiet chamber, light shimmered ripplingly, and though there was no body of water, lotus flowers swayed.
A faint glow of the Primordial Purple Qi appeared; the practice of the Great Dao was as simple as walking, and in this glow Qi's comprehension was like a fish in water, the profound mysteries of the Great Dao revealing nothing hidden to him.
Qi only felt that contemplating the Primordial Purple Qi was just like when he initially observed the cloud cover still gestating in the Yunmeng Marsh, the principle of the Great Dao manifest before his eyes.
Although it differs, it shares many similarities; it is generally straightforward, and its advantages are even more obvious, unlike the direct Great Dao, it has no limit to life and cultivation.
Kunlun Mountain; after the Three Pure Ones had collected their treasures, they immediately returned, arriving in just a thousand years.
Upon entering the Dao Chang, they immediately began immersing themselves in contemplating the Primordial Purple Qi, each gaining something.
The three mutually verified, together breaking through into the Mixed Yuan Dao; although they have now entered the Mystic Gate, they have no intention of switching to the Immortal Dao.
Although the Immortal Dao is developing smoothly, compared to the innate divine it still has shortcomings; thus they plan to follow their teacher, awaiting the time of proving the Dao, then switch to cultivating the Immortal Dao.
Although this approach is slower, it is undoubtedly more steady; regarding the Heavenly Dao Sage spoken of by their teacher, they prefer to first attain the Mixed Yuan, then take the Sage's fruit.
Even Hongjun's expectations of them are the same; after all, if they first become sages, then wanting to prove the Mixed Yuan would undoubtedly be much harder.
The trend of the Mystic Gate is already set; if they could have a few more Mixed Yuan Sages, it would naturally be more complete.
Otherwise, the sage's fruit would be lacking, losing the meaning of Mixed Yuan as one, which would be improper for the course of the Great Dao, and also possibly subject to human limitation. (End of chapter)
