Chapter 295
Myriad black cranes soar, blue clouds follow them. Suddenly a clear breeze arrives, and the bright moon illuminates the jade glow.
Interpretation: "Myriad thousands of black cranes fly, blue clouds accompany each other. Suddenly see pure wind arrive, bright moon shines on jade radiance."
We need natural English: "Myriad black cranes soared, blue clouds following them. Suddenly a pure wind arrived, and the bright moon illuminated the jade glow."
But need to keep meaning. Let's produce: "Myriad black cranes flew, blue clouds accompanying them. Suddenly a pure wind arrived, and the bright moon shone upon the jade radiance."
We'll keep as one line.
Bathed in bright moonlight, Mount Buzhou stands steadfast between heaven and earth; below it lie the clear breeze and bright moon, visible far above the firmament—this is the feast of the gods.
Translation: "Under the bright white moonlight, Mount Buzhou stood firm between heaven and earth; at its foot were the pure wind and bright moon, which could be gazed upon from the celestial vault above—this was the banquet of the myriad gods."
We need to keep "Mount Buzhou" as per glossary.
Qi moves about the banquet, welcoming the primordial deities who have come to drink together; amid song and dance the feast is peaceful and joyous.
Translation: "Qi walked around the banquet, attending to the primordial deities who had come to drink together; amidst the feast, music and dance brought peace, how joyous!"
We need to decide pronoun for Qi: we don't have gender guide; we keep neutral? The name Qi is likely male? Not given. We'll keep "Qi" as name, use "they"? But we should not guess gender. Use name or "they". Since we don't know, we can use "Qi" as subject and avoid pronouns. Use "Qi walked". Good.
Wherever Qi goes, they bear the aura of great triumph, and in an instant followers gather like clouds.
Translation: "Wherever Qi went, they carried the might of great victory; in a moment, followers gathered like clouds."
We need to avoid guessing gender; we can use "Qi" and "they". Or we can repeat "Qi". Use "Qi". "Wherever Qi went, they carried the might of great victory; in a moment, followers gathered like clouds."
Amid the gods' revelry, laughter and talk turn to the Dao; Qi wanders through, at ease and content.
Translation: "Amidst the gods' revelry, in conversation and laughter, discussions transformed into the Dao; Qi wandered there, carefree and content."
Wherever Taiyi goes, his renown is unmatched; none can rival him, not even those like the Three Pure Ones, who merely show reverence.
Translation: "The place where Taiyi was present was unrivaled in fame; wherever they went, none could contend with them, even the likes of the Three Pure Ones merely showed reverence."
We need to decide Taiyi gender? Not given; use "they". Or we can use "Taiyi". Use "Taiyi". "The place where Taiyi was present was unrivaled in fame; wherever Taiyi went, none could contend with them, even the likes of the Three Pure Ones merely showed reverence."
Emperor Jun sits exalted at the head, smiling broadly; the hall brims with esteemed guests, he surveys the world's hues, and even a single word from him elicits continual acclaim.
Translation: "Di Jun sat high at the head seat, face full of smiles; the hall was filled with honored guests, beholding the colors of the world, and even a single word from him drew continuous acclaim."
We have glossary: Di Jun.
Fuxi, overcome by drink, leans sideways on his seat, hand to his brow, silently watching the merriment and laughter, observing the gods' frolic.
Translation: "Fuxi, unable to withstand the wine, leaned sideways on his seat, hand to his forehead, silently watching the revelry and laughter, observing the gods' merrymaking."
Glossary: Fuxi.
Nüwa converses softly with Xi He, Chang Xi, and others, occasionally laughing; Gou Hui stands beside her, often shielding her face with one hand to hide her smile.
Translation: "Nüwa, meanwhile, spoke softly with Xihe and Changxi and others, occasional laughter escaping; Guihui also stood nearby, often covering her face with one hand to hide her smile."
We need to decide gender for Nüwa (female), Guihui? Not sure. We'll keep names and use appropriate pronouns if known? Not given. We'll avoid pronouns: "Nüwa, meanwhile, spoke softly with Xihe and Changxi and others, occasional laughter escaping; Guihui also stood nearby, often covering one face with a hand to hide the smile." But "her" is guess. Better to avoid pronouns: "Nüwa, meanwhile, spoke softly with Xihe and Changxi and others, occasional laughter escaping; Guihui also stood nearby, often covering the face with one hand to hide the smile." That still implies a face. Could say "covering their face". Use "their". Since we don't know gender, we can use "their". That's acceptable.
Before long, Taiyi seeks a quiet place, his face flushed from drink; catching sight of Qi dancing gracefully with long sleeves, he can't help but smile as he strides away.
Translation: "Not long after, Taiyi first sought a quiet place, face flushed, clearly unable to hold their liquor; glancing over, they saw Qi dancing gracefully with long sleeves in the crowd, and could not help showing a hint of a smile, then strode away."
Before anyone arrives, Qi spots them from afar, feeling uneasy, so he quickly finds an excuse and hurries over to Emperor Jun.
Translation: "Before the person even arrived, Qi spotted them from afar, sensing ill intent, thus found an excuse and hurriedly avoided them, heading toward Di Jun."
We need to keep "person" ambiguous. Use "the person". Good.
As Qi passes where Nüwa and the others are, he notices they seem to be discussing something private; before he even approaches, they fall silent.
Translation: "As Qi passed where Nüwa and the others were, they noticed they seemed to be discussing some private matter; before Qi even approached, they fell silent."
As Qi passed where Nüwa and the others were, they noticed they seemed to be discussing some private matter; before Qi even approached, they fell silent.
After Qi departs, the festivities flare up again; four people frolic and play, and Qi, glancing occasionally, sees that they all glow with a rosy, double‑toned hue.
Translation: "After Qi had walked away, the revelry sprang up again; four people frolicked and wrestled, and when Qi glanced over, they saw that all of them had rosy, double-toned faces."
Interpret "rosy, double-toned".
The Kun‑peng roams the arena; wherever it goes, followers gather like clouds, and even when it happens to meet Bai Ze, everyone wears a smiling face.
Translation: "The Kun-peng wandered about the venue; wherever it went, followers gathered like clouds, and even when it chanced to encounter the Bai Ze, all wore smiles."
We need to decide translation for Kun-peng: "Kun-peng" is a mythical fish-bird; we can keep as "Kun-peng" (pinyin) because it's a named beast. According to rules: named beasts/items should be translated by meaning? Actually "named beasts/items" - we should translate meaning unless it's a proper name. Kun-peng is a specific mythical creature; its name is descriptive: "Kun" (huge fish) and "Peng" (giant bird). Usually translated as "Kun-peng". I'd keep as "Kun-peng". Similarly Bai Ze is a mythical beast; we can translate as "Bai Ze". But we could also translate meaning: "White Marsh"? Actually Bai Ze means "white marsh". It's a legendary beast. Usually kept as "Bai Ze". I'll keep as "Bai Ze". We'll list them in glossary.
The Yinglong simply sits in its own seat, occasionally taking a drink; if no one approaches, it remains silent and hardly interacts.
Translation: "The Yinglong merely sat in its own seat, occasionally drinking a cup; if no one came, it remained silent, rarely communicating."
Yinglong is a mythical dragon; we can keep as "Yinglong". Or translate "Responding Dragon". Usually kept as Yinglong. We'll keep Yinglong.
It is like a hermit amidst the banquet, observing the whole scene yet staying silent; though seated high, aside from the heavenly host, it has little contact with others.
Translation: "Like a hermit amidst the banquet, surveying the whole scene yet remaining silent; though seated high, aside from the Heavenly Court's attendees, they had little contact with others."
We need to decide who this refers to: likely "the one" unspecified. We'll keep neutral.
Bing Yi occupies the upper seat, left elbow propped on the mat's edge, gaze fixed on the dancing celestial maidens in the hall, occasionally sipping a cup and finding delight.
Translation: "Bing Yi sat in the upper seat, left elbow propped on the edge of the seat, gaze blazing as they watched the heavenly maidens dance in the hall, occasionally taking a small sip, enjoying themselves."
We need to decide gender for Bing Yi. Not given; use "they". We'll keep name Bing Yi (pinyin) as it's a person's name? Actually Bing Yi is a mythical figure, a minister of Emperor Shun. It's a name; we should keep pinyin? According to rules: person's name should be pinyin. So we keep "Bing Yi". Good.
Qi sees that Bing Yi has a somewhat unrestrained, carefree bearing, yet bears no grudge; most gods born after the Dao share a similar lack of solemnity.
Translation: "Qi observed that they bore a somewhat unrestrained, carefree demeanor, yet did not oppose them; most of the gods born after the Heavenly Dao were somewhat like Bing Yi, lacking solemnity."
Compared with Qi and the others, they have a bit more desire and a bit less solemnity, yet they take no offense; rather they pride themselves on being carefree.
Translation: "Compared to Qi and the others, they possessed a bit more desire and a bit less solemnity, yet they did not take this as an offense; instead, they considered themselves to be at ease."
Except for a few whose yearning for the Way is exceptionally strong, most are like this; although they also long for the great Dao, they do not feel compelled to attain it.
Translation: "Except for a few who earnestly sought the Dao, most were thus—although they likewise craved the Great Dao, it was not absolutely necessary to attain proof."
Qi does not understand why they are thus, but perhaps feels that this is what the Dao lacks—a loss of constancy.
Translation: "Qi did not know why they were like that, but perhaps felt that this was what the Heavenly Dao lacked—loss of constancy."
Amid the revelry, purple vapor suddenly spreads across the sky; even in the deep night of the wilderness, the purple hue can still be seen on the horizon.
Translation: "Amidst everyone's merriment, purple vapor suddenly spread across the sky; although it was deep night in the wilderness, the purple hue could still be seen on the horizon."
In the heavenly realm, purple light shines brighter, revealing its exalted nature; amidst the crowd's astonishment, a resonant Dao tone suddenly rings from the horizon.
Translation: "Within the heavenly realm, purple light shone even brighter, revealing its exalted presence; amidst the crowd's astonishment, a Daoist tone suddenly resonated from the heavens."
Although no proclamation of the Dao has been uttered, Qi and the others inwardly know that the Dao Ancestor Hongjun has united with the Dao.
Translation: "Although no words of Dao verification were spoken, Qi and the others inwardly knew that the Dao Ancestor Hongjun had united with the Dao."
We need to decide translation for Dao Ancestor Hongjun: "Dao Ancestor Hongjun" or "Grandmaster Hongjun". We'll use "Dao Ancestor Hongjun". Keep as two words? We'll keep "Dao Ancestor Hongjun". It's a named entity.
Even in the Heaven of Divine Splendor, countless heavenly flowers fall in profusion and sacred rain drizzles; Qi and the others exchange glances, and in the next moment the crowd cries out in unison: 'Congratulations to the Dao Ancestor on achieving union with the Dao!'
Translation: "Even in the God-Heaven realm, countless heavenly flowers rained down and spiritual rain drifted; Qi and the others exchanged glances, and in the next moment, everyone present cried out in unison: 'Congratulations to the Dao Ancestor on achieving union with the Dao!'"
When the words fade, the banquet hall falls silent; Qi and the others sense that something has changed in the primordial world, their hearts filled with tumultuous thoughts, yet they dare not speak, merely focusing their minds on the wilderness.
Translation: "As the words fell, the atmosphere at the banquet hushed; Qi and the others sensed the change in the primordial world, realizing it had altered, their minds filled with tumultuous thoughts, yet they dared not speak, merely focusing their spirits on the primordial realm."
The sky gradually brightens as the sun, moon, and stars revolve; when the first ray of dawn touches the earth, heaven and earth undergo a sudden transformation.
Translation: "The sky gradually brightened as the sun, moon, and stars turned; when the wilderness beheld the eastern rise of the dawn sun, and the first ray of morning light shone upon the earth, heaven and earth suddenly transformed."
Countless strands of spirit energy surge wildly; in the morning light, the primordial spirit energy suffusing the wilderness begins to stir tumultuously.
Translation: "Countless strands of spiritual energy surged wildly; amidst the morning light, the innate spiritual energy pervading the wilderness instantly began to stir."
The Dao manifests, and threads of spirit energy frenziedly expand and differentiate; turbid qi surges within the earth, while threads of pure qi descend from the heavens.
Translation: "The Heavenly Dao manifested, with countless threads of spiritual energy frenziedly expanding and differentiating; turbid qi surged within the earth, while clear qi descended from the heavens in countless threads."
Second, the mingling spirit energy between heaven and earth intertwines, beginning to entwine and become inseparable.
Translation: "Furthermore, these two qi intertwined with the spiritual energy permeating heaven and earth, beginning to entangle, gradually becoming inseparable."
Qi and the others watch this scene in stunned silence, seeing the pure and turbid qi together with the spirit energy blending as if water and milk, slowly merging.
Translation: "Qi and the others silently watched this scene, their hearts filled with shock; they saw only the clear and turbid qi together with the spiritual energy, as if water and milk were merging, slowly combining."
The spiritual mechanism between heaven and earth suddenly flourishes; mountains and rivers tremble, consciousness manifests, and countless invisible great formations appear above the wilderness.
Translation: "The spiritual mechanism between heaven and earth suddenly flourished; famous mountains and rivers trembled, consciousness manifested, and one after another, invisible grand formations appeared above the wilderness."
On Mount Kunlun, whether east or west, the terrain unites as one; fierce winds encircle it, keeping the descending pure qi from the sky at bay and pressing down the rising turbid qi from the earth, preventing the two from meeting.
Translation: "On Mount Kunlun, regardless of east or west, the mountain's momentum coalesced into one; fierce winds encircled it, not only blocking the clear qi descending from the heavens but also pressing down the turbid qi rising from the earth, preventing the two from meeting."
We need to decide translation for Mount Kunlun: "Mount Kunlun". Keep as Mount Kunlun.
In the Cloud Dream Marsh, the marsh's own consciousness awakens; the primordial Cloud Dream Star Array, though unmanned, remains unfurled, and the islands floating on its surface begin to operate frenziedly.
Translation: "In the Cloud Dream Marsh, the marsh's consciousness emerged; the primordial Cloud Dream Star Array operated without anyone controlling it, yet remained open, and the islands floating on the water's surface began to run wildly."
We need to decide translation for Cloud Dream Marsh: "Cloud Dream Marsh". We'll use that.
Endless star‑chains spread out, tugging at the surrounding clouds and continually blocking the pure qi falling from heaven, preventing it from making contact.
Translation: "Chain after chain of starlight continually spread, pulling at the surrounding clouds and continually blocking the clear qi falling from the heavens, preventing it from making contact."
Starlight pours into the great marsh like countless pearls and jade, raining down upon the rising turbid qi at the bottom and binding it firmly, so it can no longer move.
Translation: "Starlight poured into the great marsh like beads of pearl and jade, scattering upon the turbid qi rising from the marsh's depths, firmly binding it so it could not continue to move."
All the gods and spirits of the heavenly court feel uneasy; even the star deities are alarmed, and Qi, Emperor Jun, and Taiyi are no exception.
Translation: "Within the Heavenly Court, the gods and spirits all felt uneasy; even the star deities had alarm bells ringing in their hearts, and Qi, Di Jun, and Taiyi were no exception."
All the gods turn their gaze toward Qi and Emperor Jun; before anyone can speak, Qi declares: 'The primordial world has changed suddenly; I can come and go as I please, but I have pressing business and cannot entertain you—this is my fault, and I will surely apologize later.'
Translation: "All the gods in the venue turned their gazes toward Qi and Di Jun; before anyone could speak, Qi said first: 'The primordial world has undergone a sudden change; coming and going can be done freely. I still have pressing matters, so I cannot entertain you all—this is my fault, and I will surely apologize later.'"
'The gods and spirits can reach the primordial realm through the heavenly formation; most mountains and rivers can do so, but the Cloud Dream Marsh has changed, so I ask forgiveness for not being able to accompany you.'
Translation: "'Gods and spirits, you can reach the primordial world via the Heavenly Court's formations; most mountains and rivers can do so as well, but the Cloud Dream Marsh has changed, so I ask your pardon for not being able to accompany you in hospitality.'"
Having spoken, Qi does not wait for a reply, steps forward, and the heavenly formation activates, conveying him to the heavenly realm above the Cloud Dream Marsh.
Translation: "Having spoken, Qi could not wait for the crowd's response, and promptly stepped forward; the formations of the Heavenly Court activated, transporting Qi to the heavenly realm above the Cloud Dream Marsh."
Scarcely arrived, Qi sees countless streams of light swirling; the weak water in the lower heavenly realm forms a vortex, from which a faint channel begins to emerge.
Translation: "Qi had barely arrived when they saw countless spiritual lights swirling; the weak water in the lower layer of the heavenly realm formed a vortex, and a passageway faintly emerged from within."
Seeing this, Qi hesitates no longer, flies straight into the vortex, and below lies the Cloud Dream Marsh.
Translation: "Seeing this, Qi hesitated not, immediately flying into the vortex; below it lay the Cloud Dream Marsh."
Emperor Jun looks toward the gods and first offers an apology:
Translation: "Di Jun looked toward the gods in the venue and first apologized, saying:"
'This change in heaven and earth will disturb most gods and spirits; even the stars of heaven and earth are affected.'
Translation: "'This time heaven and earth have changed; the gods and spirits will mostly be disturbed by it, even the stars of heaven and earth are likewise trapped.'"
'Please forgive the heavenly court's inadequate hospitality; this sudden change in heaven and earth, I expect you will understand, and if you have no pressing affairs, the Sovereigns Fuxi and Nüwa will attend to you later.'
Translation: "'Please forgive the Heavenly Court's inadequate hospitality this time; with the sudden change of heaven and earth, I expect you all understand, and if you have no pressing affairs, later the Sovereigns Xi and Nüwa will attend to you.'"
'Those who wish to return to the primordial realm may be sent back by the heavenly formation; the sun itself has changed, so I and Taiyi will go ahead first.'
Translation: "'Those wishing to return to the primordial world, the Heavenly Court also has formations to send you forth; now the sun star has also changed, so Taiyi and I will go ahead first.'"
The arriving guests immediately reply in unison: 'No problem, no problem, Your Majesty, please do as you wish.'
Translation: "The arriving guests immediately replied in unison: 'No problem, no problem, Your Majesty, please do as you wish.'"
Countless star deities return together with Emperor Jun and Taiyi to the starry heavens, and for a moment the hall stands empty.
Translation: "Countless star deities returned together with Di Jun and Taiyi to the starry heavens, and for a moment the hall stood empty."
The formation's humming continues unabated; many mountain and water deities return to their domains via the heavenly law, leaving the once‑boisterous hall with only a few divine beings.
Translation: "The resonant hum of the formations operating at full strength continued without cease; many mountain and water deities returned to their domains via the Heavenly Court's methods, and the hall, previously clamoring with voices, now retained only a few divine beings."
Fortunately, Fuxi and Nüwa are attending to the guests; for a time the gods, though preoccupied with the changes in the primordial world and somewhat distracted, still keep the gathering lively, so the banquet does not grow cold.
Translation: "Fortunately, Fuxi and Nüwa were there to host; for a time, although the gods were concerned about the change in the primordial world and some were distracted, the scene remained fairly lively, and the banquet did not grow desolate."
Scarcely entered the Cloud Dream Marsh, a drawing force pulls Qi into the formation; offering no resistance, he only then realizes the startling transformation within.
Translation: "Qi had just entered the Cloud Dream Marsh when a suction force arrived, drawing them into the formation; offering no resistance, they only realized the startling transformation upon fully entering the marsh."
The marsh's waters surge with towering waves hundreds of zhang high, while the primordial Cloud Dream Star Array operates at full strength to counter the pure qi continually descending from the sky.
Translation: "The great marsh's waters surged with rolling waves, hundred‑zhang‑high giant waves raging; the primordial Cloud Dream Star Array operated at full power to cope with the clear qi continually pouring down from the heavens."
The marsh's water is utterly turbid; at times great bursts of foul water well up from below, and countless chains flail about, wildly dragging in clouds and mist that have not yet been touched by pure or turbid qi into the marsh.
Translation: "The marsh water was utterly turbid; at times great masses of foul water welled up from below, and countless chains flailed wildly, frenziedly dragging in the clouds and mists that had not yet been touched by clear or turbid qi into the Cloud Dream Marsh."
The consciousness of the Cloud Dream Marsh appears beside Qi, its anxiety evident; seeing this, Qi says nothing and immediately produces the twelve‑grade Primordial Purifying White Lotus, setting it upon the water.
Translation: "The consciousness of the Cloud Dream Marsh appeared beside Qi, its anxiety evident; seeing this, Qi said nothing, immediately producing the Primordial Twelfth‑Grade World‑Purifying White Lotus and letting it settle upon the water."
The countless tumultuous waves instantly calm; the twelve‑grade Primordial Purifying White Lotus emits a soft glow, and the turbid qi rising from the earth, bathed in this azure light, settles back down to the depths.
Translation: "The countless shocking waves instantly calmed; the Primordial Twelfth‑Grade World‑Purifying White Lotus shed a soft glow, and the turbid qi rising from the earth, upon being bathed in this azure light, immediately settled and returned underground."
Qi then takes the Water‑Awakening World Drum and the Water‑Subduing Divine Staff, grips the drumstick, and strikes the drum hard; a thunderclap erupts from the horizon, and the descending pure qi instantly dissipates.
Translation: "Qi then took out the Water‑Splendid Awakening Drum and the Water‑Subduing Divine Staff, grasped the drum mallet, and struck the drum heavily; a thunderclap exploded at the horizon, and the descending clear qi instantly dissipated."
The Water‑Subduing Divine Staff stands upright in the sky, emitting invisible ripples that spread outward; the great waves in the marsh follow those ripples and grow calm.
Translation: "The Water‑Subduing Divine Staff stood upright in the sky, invisible ripples spreading outward; the giant waves in the marsh likewise calmed as they followed the ripples."
The Peace‑Heart Bell appears in Qi's hand; he shakes it gently, and its clear chime spreads outward, reaching far even through any great formation.
Translation: "The Peace‑Heart Bell appeared in Qi's hand; gently shaken, its pure chime spread with Qi's motion, and even with a great formation intervening, it still broadcast far."
The pure qi descending from the heavens collides with the bell's chime, and right there it begins to spin.
Translation: "The clear qi falling from the heavens collided with the chime of the Peace‑Heart Bell, and immediately began to spin in place."
Again, as the bell sound continually expands, it returns to the sky once more.
Seeing this, Qi's heart eased a little, and he took out the World-separating White Jade Token, throwing it into the water; instantly an invisible ripple spread out.
The World-separating White Jade Token, the Water-flower Awakening World Drum, the Innate Twelve-grade Purifying World White Lotus, and the Peaceful Mind Bell emitted a faint glow; after a moment, a swaying giant lotus phantom stood firm in the water.
Seeing this, Qi let out a slight sigh of relief, but the Yunmeng Ze consciousness continued to swirl around him, countless star-link cloud-chains flying about.
Knowing what the Yunmeng Ze consciousness intended, Qi did not linger and immediately walked toward the swaying giant lotus phantom.
As Qi stepped inside, the giant lotus blossomed, its pure appearance revealing sanctity; petal after petal unfolded, revealing the enormous lotus pedestal within.
Qi revealed his true form: a serpent tail over ten thousand zhang long coiled, his four eyes wide open, black wings spread out spanning tens of thousands of zhang, yet they barely occupied the lotus pedestal, even feeling somewhat spacious.
As Qi entered, the Innate Yunmeng Stellar Grand Formation fully activated, countless starlight-cloud chains spread everywhere, pulling the unpolluted cloud-qi near the Ze into the Yunmeng Ze.
At the same time, from an outside view, the coverage of the Innate Yunmeng Stellar Grand Formation continued to expand.
It not only enveloped the entire Yunmeng Ze, but even the surrounding millions of li were within its shroud.
Thunder exploded, and the heavens and earth outside Yunmeng Ze seemed to return to the time of Qi's birth—dark skies, rolling thunder.
The turbid qi underground kept surging up, but fortunately the condensed starlight restrained it, preventing movement; otherwise, Qi might not have been able to stabilize the situation so easily.
On East Kunlun Mountain, the Three Pure Ones also returned; though they are not heavenly gods or earthly deities, they were born of Kunlun Mountain, and now that heaven and earth have suddenly changed, they naturally cannot rest easy.
The Lingbao Daoist personally presided over the great formation formed by Kunlun Mountain's terrain, suppressing the turbid qi constantly surging from underground.
The Yuanshi Daoist wielded the Pangu Banner, constantly waving it, releasing strands of Chaos sword qi from the banner that collided with the falling clear qi.
The Daode Daoist slowly unfolded the Taiji Diagram in his hand, the yin and yang qi circulating, continually sorting the clear and turbid qi between heaven and earth, trying not to let Kunlun Mountain be disturbed.
Moreover, many Innate divinities assisted within Kunlun Mountain, whether heavenly beings or earthly deities, none could be idle at this time.
Gou Hui was also among them, his Kunlun Mirror emitting a radiance that extended over tens of millions of zhang, seeming endless.
Whether the clear qi descending from the heavens or the turbid qi rising from the earth, a single touch of this radiance would send it who knows where.
Bing Yi stood in the sky, watching countless rivers rush downward, and said:
"Damn it, what is this? How could the clear and turbid qi suddenly erupt in turmoil! It even merges with the spiritual qi of the wilderness!"
Saying this, Bing Yi drew a strand of newly born spiritual qi and placed it in their hand; divine light flickered in their eyes, yet they could not discern any peculiarity within it.
"If the Dao Ancestor has successfully united with the Dao, then logically they should be supplementing the rules of the wilderness heaven and earth, reenacting the time when the Great Dao still existed, right?"
"How could it have become like this, with the clear and turbid qi of heaven and earth becoming abnormal, causing the originally tranquil and separated two to actually merge with spiritual qi!"
"Although we cannot fathom its principle in a short time, the spiritual qi mixed with clear and turbid qi must certainly have some unknown change!"
"Otherwise, the Yellow River's consciousness would not be so repulsive; I have existed for so long, yet I have never encountered such a situation!"
Qixiang's face fell; although the spiritual qi between heaven and earth had suddenly increased greatly, the spiritual qi mixed with clear and turbid qi must have undergone some change unknown to her.
Seeing the Yangtze River's consciousness likewise repulsed, she instinctively felt that this change would bring ill effects; the frenzied growth of spiritual qi must conceal some drawback.
The spiritual mechanism between heaven and earth grew ever more active, as if the clear and turbid qi were dissolving into spiritual qi, yet nothing abnormal was felt.
The God of the Ji River stood in the Ji waters, heart full of anxiety; as the foremost of the Four Rivers and Eight Streams, and the highest-ranking water god under heaven aside from Qi.
Thus, the Ji River God felt rather harried, for though heaven and earth had undergone a sudden change, they could not stop it.
These flowing waters differ from Yunmeng Ze; their immense volume and vast reach cannot be blocked by formations against such heavenly and earthly changes.
Especially after absorbing the Western Three Waters, the Four Rivers and Eight Streams became boundlessly vast, with all the waters of the wilderness linked to them.
Now facing this change, the impact on them is naturally the most severe.
Although the spiritual qi in heaven and earth is madly becoming dense, and the spiritual mechanism is extremely active, far surpassing the past, the Ji River God nonetheless feels ever more headache.
"Never mind; since we cannot block it, at least we must ensure that several places of essence within the Ji Waters remain unaffected!"
"As for the remaining tributaries and small waters, let them be; the water gods will attend to them, but we still need to select tranquil spots, otherwise even if retained, they would hardly survive."
For a time, the vast majority of water gods chose this, preserving only a single spot to keep the appearance before the great change of heaven and earth.
As for other ordinary places, let them change as they will.
