322. Chapter 322

Qi went forth enthusiastically and returned disheartened, returning to the Qi Emperor Palace with a heart full of agitation; meanwhile, in Chaos, the battle between Shaohao and the Great Devil finally drew to a close.

Qi went forth in high spirits and returned in low spirits.

while in Chaos, the battle between Shaohao and the Great Devil finally came to an end.

We'll output as one sentence.

As a silver-white escape light fell into the Wilderness, Qi only then realized that their great battle had actually lasted ten thousand years.

Translation: "As a silver-white escape light fell into the Wilderness, Qi only then realized that their great battle had actually lasted ten thousand years."

The silver-white escape light fell into the Wilderness; only then did Qi realize that the great battle between them had actually lasted ten thousand years.

But Qi had no mind to concern himself with Ao Xing's affairs; nevertheless, it still made Qi clearly see again the hardship of seeking the Dao, for cultivation among all beings is absolutely not a smooth road.

Translation: "But Qi had no mind to concern himself with Ao Xing's affairs; nevertheless, it still made Qi clearly see again the hardship of seeking the Dao, for cultivation among all beings is by no means a smooth road."

But Qi had no mind to concern himself with Ao Xing's affairs; nevertheless, it still made Qi clearly see again the hardship of seeking the Dao, for cultivation among all beings is absolutely not a smooth road.

For the countless mundane beings in the Wilderness, perhaps becoming an immortal is already the ultimate goal of their cultivation, and those who achieve it are exceedingly few.

Translation: "For the countless mundane beings in the Wilderness, perhaps becoming an immortal is already the greatest goal of their cultivation, and those who achieve it are exceedingly few."

But the Wilderness is too vast, with too many cultivating beings, making the immortals there seem overly sparse and ordinary.

Arriving at the lotus platform, the innate twelfth-grade pure-world white lotus emanated a gentle clear light; Qi sat down cross-legged, slowly closed his eyes, and his spirit wandered through space.

Translation: "Upon reaching the Lotus Platform, the innate twelfth-grade pure world white lotus emanating a gentle clear light, Qi sat down cross-legged, slowly closed his eyes, and roamed through space."

Meanwhile, the Kun-peng eagerly set out, heading to the White Tiger tribe's encampment to investigate Shaohao's true and false.

Translation: "Meanwhile, Kunpeng happily set out, heading to the White Tiger Clan's station, intending to investigate Shaohao's reality."

After ten thousand years of bloody struggle, with life and death hanging by a thread, this is the first battle of the Primordial Origin Dao following the Heavenly Dao of the Wilderness; no matter the final outcome, going to discuss the Dao will surely yield something.

Translation: "The ten-thousand-year bloody struggle, with life and death hanging by a thread, this is the first battle of the Primordial Origin Dao after the Heavenly Dao of the Wilderness; no matter the final gain, going to discuss the Dao will surely yield something."

Not only the Kun-peng, but even the Three Pure Ones, Hong Yun, Jieyin and Zhunti, among others, went forth, not for profit, but to seek the Dao.

Translation: "Not only Kunpeng, but even the Three Pure Ones, Hongyun, Jieyin, Zhunti, and others also went forth, not for profit, but to seek the Dao."

But at this moment in Chaos, beside the Great Devil's corpse, a human figure suddenly appeared.

Translation: "But at this moment in Chaos, beside the Great Devil's corpse, a human figure suddenly appeared."

This person wore a black robe, with a great millstone atop his head protecting him, shielding him from the interference of chaotic currents; it was Luo Hui himself.

Translation: "This person wore a black robe, with a large grindstone atop protecting him, so that he was not disturbed by the Chaos currents; this was Rahu himself."

Gazing at the corpse before him, Luo Hui instantly sensed a spark of life gestating within; seeing this, he laughed and said, 'You and I are fated to meet—when you once followed my words to attain the Dao, today you again respond to my presence; truly, one drink, one peck, all is predestined.'

Translation: "Gazing at the corpse before him, Rahu immediately sensed a vitality gestating within; seeing this, he laughed and said, 'You and I are fated; when you first heard my words and attained the Dao, today you should again be upon my person—truly a matter of give and take, all destined.'"

We need to keep quotes. We'll translate the quoted speech.

Observing the six heavenly guilty qi and five viscera evil qi swirling over the Great Devil's body, Luo Hui again said, 'This is a thing of the Wilderness; how can it be left in Chaos to be worn away? That would truly be a waste of heavenly bounty. With a benevolent heart, I shall send it away.'

Translation: "Looking at the Great Devil's body seething with Six Heavenly Faulty Qi and Five Viscera Evil Qi, Rahu again said, 'This is a thing of the Wilderness; how can it be left in Chaos to be worn away? It truly is a waste of heavenly blessings; I am kind-hearted, and will therefore send it away.'"

Having spoken, the World-Ending Great Mill atop Luo Hui's head began to turn, sucking the entire corpse of the Great Devil into it.

Translation: "Having said that, the World-Destroying Great Mill atop Rahu's head began to turn, sucking the entire Great Devil's corpse into it."

As the millstone began to turn, streams of gas flew out from it, and the wails of the six heavenly guilty ghosts and five evil ghosts echoed through Chaos, yet Luo Hui seemed oblivious.

Translation: "As the grindstone began to turn, streams of gas flew out from it; the wails of the Six Heavenly Faulty Ghosts and the Five Ghosts echoed in Chaos, yet Rahu acted as if he heard nothing."

Until the World-Ending Great Mill ceased turning, its cries of lament gradually faded; then Luo Hui made hand seals and muttered incantations.

Translation: "Until the World-Destroying Great Mill ceased turning, and its wailing sounds gradually faded, Rahu then made hand seals and murmured incantations."

Luo Hui's words were extraordinarily strange, like incoherent babble; yet as he acted, the World-Ending Great Mill spewed forth several streams of black qi, tinting the six heavenly guilty qi.

Translation: "Rahu's words were extraordinarily strange, like nonsense; and as he moved, the World-Destroying Great Mill spewed forth several streams of black qi, tinting the Six Heavenly Faulty Qi."

Only after it turned black as ink did Luo Hui cease, then he cast these eleven strands of heavenly and earthly primordial qi into the Wilderness, his eyes full of smiles.

Translation: "Until it turned black as ink, Rahu then ceased, and injected the eleven streams of heavenly and earthly primordial qi into the Wilderness, his eyes full of smiles."

Luo Hui again made hand seals, and the World-Ending Great Mill began to spew, once more casting the Great Devil's corpse into Chaos.

Translation: "Rahu again made hand seals, the World-Destroying Great Mill began to spew, and cast the Great Devil's corpse back into Chaos."

At this time the corpse still held vitality, yet it was no longer as lively as before, exuding an enervated, listless aura.

Translation: "At this time the corpse, though still containing vitality, was not as lively as before, revealing a listless, enervated aura."

Luo Hui waited a moment in Chaos, seeing no one come to disturb him, he sat cross-legged before the corpse and laughed, 'If you wish to stop me, you had better appear early; otherwise, later you will have no chance to slay me.'

Translation: "Rahu waited a moment in Chaos; seeing no one come to disturb him, he sat directly opposite the corpse and laughed, 'If you wish to stop me, you had better appear sooner; otherwise, later there will be no chance to slay me.'"

After waiting a long while yet still no figure appeared, Luo Hui wondered, 'Could it be that Hongjun truly perceives nothing? Or does he intend to let me act as I please? Or perhaps my heavenly mandate is not yet fulfilled?'

Translation: "After waiting a long while yet still no figure appeared, Rahu wondered, 'Could it be that Hongjun truly perceives nothing? Or does he intend to let me act as I wish? Or is my heavenly mandate not yet fulfilled?'"

Luo Hui did not know this, but seeing that there was nothing else at present, he immersed himself in cultivation.

Translation: "Rahu did not know this, but seeing that there was nothing else, he immersed himself in cultivation."

His goal, though clear and promising for the future, still required the support of cultivation; at his present level, he still needed to make up a deficiency.

Translation: "His goal was clear and the future promising, yet he needed the support of his cultivation; at his present level he still needed to make up a deficiency."

At the very least, one must reach the level of a Great Luo Heavenly Demon to carry this out; as for the current Star God Dao and his innate divine status, what harm is there? Luo Hui took out more than ten golden elixirs and swallowed them one by one; these were all obtained in the Heavenly Court, including stipends, but mostly acquired through magical trade.

Translation: "At the very least, he needed to reach the Great Luo Heavenly Devil level to carry it out; as for the present Star God Dao, his innate divine status, what harm is there? Rahu took out more than ten Golden Cores and swallowed them one by one; these were all obtained by him in the Heavenly Court, some as stipends, but most acquired through magical trade."

The Star God Dao, his innate divine status—what harm could there be?

As Luo Hui consumed them, his aura grew ever more vigorous; his entire life-force cultivation became fluffy, the originally united three flowers and five qi dispersed, then reconnected in a strange manner.

Translation: "As Rahu swallowed them, his aura grew ever more vigorous; his bodily life-force cultivation became fluffy, the originally bound together Three Flowers and Five Qi dispersed, then reconnected in a strange manner."

As Luo Hui acted, his cultivation realm gradually rose from Upper God of Taiyi toward a Great Luo Heavenly Demon, black mist swirling around him like an ominous calamity.

Translation: "And as Rahu acted, his cultivation realm gradually approached the Great Luo Heavenly Devil from the Taiyi Upper God, black mist enveloping his whole body like an ominous calamity."

When the power of the golden elixirs was exhausted, Luo Hui again took out no small amount of Three Light Divine Water and gulped it down like a commoner drinking water.

Translation: "When the power of the Golden Cores was exhausted, Rahu took out no small amount of Three Light Divine Water and gulped it down like a mortal drinking water."

If today's myriad cultivators saw this, they would curse it as a waste of heavenly bounty; for the stellar power no longer descends into the Wilderness, such a supreme healing treasure ought not be used for cultivation! Luo Hui's aura swelled ever more, yet still far from the Great Luo Realm; he then took out plenty of spirit-root stems, leaves, and fruits, chewing them like an ox chewing peonies, and ate them one by

Translation: "If today's many cultivators saw this, they would all curse it as a waste of heavenly blessings; now the stellar power does not descend into the Wilderness, such a healing treasure, how could it be used for cultivation! Rahu's aura swelled ever more, yet the Great Luo Heavenly Devil remained far out of reach; he then took out plenty of spiritual root stems, leaves, and flesh, and ate them one by one like an ox chewing peonies."

like an ox chewing peonies

Even then he still felt it wasn't enough, so he took out a jade disc-shaped object, inside which four spiritual roots were placed.

Translation: "Even then he still felt it insufficient, and took out a jade-plate-shaped object, in which four spiritual roots were placed."

Just like flower stems, without branches or leaves, the ruptures on its body revealed the miserable state of this treasure; obviously the spiritual root stems and leaves that Luo Hu had just consumed came from here.

Translation: "Just like a flower stalk, without branches or leaves, the cracks on its body revealed the sorry state of this treasure; obviously the spiritual root stems and leaves Rahu had just consumed came from it."

Its grade, astonishingly, reached the highest grade of innate spiritual roots; as for the other three, they were two medium-grade and one low-grade, all lacking any remaining branches or leaves.

Translation: "And its grade, astonishingly reaching top-grade innate spiritual root; as for the other three, they were two medium-grade and one low-grade, none retaining any branches or leaves."

Luo Hu thought of the present Wilderness and the future scene where everyone would shout and attack him; perhaps in the future it would be hard to find these innate items again, so after a brief hesitation he first consumed the low-grade one.

Translation: "Rahu thought of the present Wilderness and the scene where everyone might someday shout and beat him; in the future it might be hard to find these innate things again; after a little hesitation, he first consumed the low-grade one."

Unfortunately, in the end, only the flower stems of the top-grade spiritual root among the four were preserved, and even then only half remained; fortunately the root system was undamaged, so perhaps it could still recover in the future.

Translation: "Unfortunately, in the end, only the flower stalk of the top-grade spiritual root among the four was preserved, and even that only half; fortunately the root system was undamaged, so perhaps it could still recover in the future."

And as Luo Hu ingested these treasures, the aura of the Great Luo Heavenly Demon on his person became increasingly refined, until it gradually stabilized.

Translation: "And as Rahu ingested these treasures, the aura of the Great Luo Heavenly Devil on his person became ever more refined, until gradually stabilized."

At this moment Luo Hu then laughed and said:

Translation: "At this moment Rahu then laughed and said:"

"Hongjun, you and I have struggled for a long time, but I must admit that this Three Corpses Slaying Method indeed has some unique merits." "However, today it will also be used by me; the contention between immortals and demons has never ceased."

Translation: "\"Hongjun, we have struggled for a long time, but I cannot help but admit that the Three Corpses Slaying Method indeed has some unique merit. \" \"Nevertheless, today it will also be used by me; the struggle between immortals and demons has never ceased. \""

We need to keep the quotes and the two sentences.

Luo Hu first took out the God-Slaying Spear, offered it to his primordial spirit; as he cut himself in his mind and spirit, a Daoist walked out of the God-Slaying Spear.

Translation: "Rahu first took out the God-Slaying Spear, offered it upon his Primordial Spirit, and as he cut himself once in his heart-mind, a Daoist walked out from the God-Slaying Spear."

That Daoist likewise wore a black robe, his eyes full of chill, his killing intent awe-inspiring, making anyone who saw him feel chilled; Luo Hu was not surprised at all, while that Daoist bowed and said: "Evil Corpse Ji Du, I have met the True Self."

Translation: "That Daoist likewise wore a black robe, his eyes full of chill, his killing aura awe-inspiring, making those who see him feel chilled; Rahu was not at all surprised by this, and the Daoist gave a salute, saying, 'Evil Corpse Ji Du, I pay my respects to the venerable one.'"

Luo Hu lightly laughed and said: "Good."

Translation: "Rahu lightly laughed and said, 'Good.'"

Immediately Ji Du stood beside Luo Hu, clasping the God-Slaying Spear with both hands, silent and speechless, as if guarding Luo Hu's Dao.

Translation: "Immediately Ji Du stood at Rahu's side, arms clasping the God-Slaying Spear, silent and speechless, seeming to guard Rahu's Dao."

And as Ji Du appeared, Luo Hu's aura began to swell ever more, his cultivation realm experiencing a sudden surge.

Translation: "And as Rahu also with Ji Du's appearance, his aura began to swell ever more, his cultivation realm meeting a sudden surge."

But Luo Hu paid no heed; he merely placed the World-Destroying Mill on his primordial spirit again, cut himself once more, and a figure emerged from the World-Destroying Mill.

Translation: "But Rahu paid no heed, merely again offering the World-Destroying Great Mill upon his Primordial Spirit, again cutting himself, and a figure walked out from the World-Destroying Great Mill."

The Daoist wore a white robe, his eyes full of smiles, but before he could speak, Luo Hu struck first, and Ji Du beside him did the same.

Translation: "The Daoist wore a white robe, his eyes full of smiles, but before he could speak, Rahu struck first, and Ji Du beside him did likewise."

The white-robed Daoist had not yet reacted when he was pierced through by the God-Slaying Spear; countless murderous energies flowed into his body through the wound, rendering him immobile.

Translation: "The white-robed Daoist had not yet reacted when he was pierced through by the God-Slaying Spear; countless murderous qi followed the wound into his body, rendering him unable to move."

Luo Hu finally spoke at this point, saying: "Sorry, for the great plan we must ultimately make some sacrifices; since you hold my supreme treasure, which is also exceedingly special, I cannot rest easy."

Translation: "Rahu then finally spoke, saying, 'Sorry, for the great plan, I must ultimately make some sacrifices; since you hold my supreme treasure, which is also exceedingly special, I cannot help but worry.'"

"It happens to be needed now; I suppose you can understand as well, and I will surely commemorate you after you depart."

Translation: "\"Just now there is need; I suppose you can also understand; I will myself commemorate you abundantly after your departure. \""

The white-robed Daoist said, somewhat puzzled:

Translation: "The white-robed Daoist said somewhat incomprehendingly:"

"We are originally one entity; sacrifice was already anticipated, but I simply cannot comprehend how, if the Three Corpses are not united, you, with a defective primordial spirit, could ever attain the Dao."

Translation: "\"We are originally one body; sacrifice was already anticipated, but I truly cannot comprehend: if the Three Corpses are not united, how can you, with a deficient Primordial Spirit, attain the Dao? \""

"I do not fear death, nor have I ever thought of resisting; I do not know what the future holds, but if we cannot attain the Dao, it would feel utterly not worth it."

Translation: "\"I do not mind death, have not even thought of resistance now, and do not know the future; merely, if we cannot attain the Dao, it would feel rather not worth it. \""

"Moreover, both I and Ji Du come from you; why did you choose to sacrifice me rather than him? Or perhaps he could also be sacrificed, just not at this time?"

Translation: "\"Moreover, I and Ji Du are both emanations from you; why do you choose to sacrifice me rather than him? Or perhaps he too could be sacrificed, just not at this time? \""

Luo Hu laughed in response:

Translation: "Rahu laughed at this:"

"If that is the case, you need not worry; I myself have a marvelous method. But since we are of one entity and possess the extraordinary treasure of the World-Destroying Mill, if you do not rebel in the future, it would inevitably be too high an opinion of your own character."

Translation: "\"If so, you need not worry; I myself have a marvelous method, but since we are of one body and possess the extraordinary treasure World-Destroying Great Mill, if you do not rebel in the future, that would inevitably be too high an opinion of your own virtue. \""

"I still have some understanding of myself, therefore I cannot tolerate you, for you differ from Ji Du—he cannot escape my seat, whereas you can."

Translation: "\"I still understand myself somewhat, therefore I cannot tolerate you, for you differ from Ji Du—he cannot escape me, whereas you can. \""

"Otherwise, why would you, just at birth, already facing death, utter such provocative words? Do you not know that although we each have different thoughts, we also understand our differing circumstances?"

"Otherwise, why would you, just at birth, already facing death, utter such provocative words? Do you not know that although we each have different thoughts, we also understand our differing circumstances?"

We'll translate accordingly.

The white-robed Daoist then laughed and said:

Translation: "The white-robed Daoist then laughed and said:"

"So it is; I am merely the True Self, but I hope you truly have a marvelous method to attain the Dao, otherwise the future could be far more miserable than mine."

Translation: "\"Now I understand; merely, venerable one, I hope you truly have a marvelous method to attain the Dao, otherwise the future could be far more miserable than mine. \""

"At least I die with hope, whereas if you lack a marvelous method, you will never see the Dao in your lifetime."

Translation: "\"At least I die with hope; if you lack a marvelous method, you will never see the Dao in your lifetime. \""

Luo Hou merely smiled and said, "Good."

As his words fell, Rahu began to chant an extremely strange scripture from his mouth; if Yinglong were here, he would surely recognize it, after all he had used this method before.

However, there were still differences; compared to the method Yinglong obtained, the one in Rahu's hand was clearly the complete version.

Rahu's mouth did not cease, while his hands relentlessly tore at the white-robed Daoist's flesh and blood, utterly ignoring his resistance, refining it into streams of blood energy which he swallowed into his belly.

And as the white-robed Daoist completely vanished, Rahu's aura finally became complete; only then did his heart settle.

His gaze slowly shifted to the great devil's bones in Chaos; as Rahu's gaze fell upon them, the great devil's bones seemed to sense it and began to tremble.

Rahu, seeing this, laughed and said:

"Don't be so afraid; now it's merely attaining the Dao once more. The karma between us originated from me, and naturally it should be used by me."

As Rahu's words fell, the great devil's bones were summoned by him, and again a cut was made upon the primordial spirit; Rahu's own obsession then filled the great devil's bones.

The bones instantly began to struggle, and the strangeness of the entrusted object also caused frequent omens in the scene; Rahu, at this moment wholly focused on self‑slaughter, was utterly unable to control it.

But Ji Du standing beside him stepped forward, murmuring incantations; after a long while the bones finally calmed, underwent heavenly rebirth, and a person walked out from within, opening his mouth to speak.
