Chapter 7
For an innate divine being, becoming a Taiyi Golden Immortal only requires knowing the path's direction; then it can be achieved quickly.
This is because when heaven and earth nurtured them, the three flowers on top and the five qi in the chest had already been polished to perfection.
It is merely hidden, like the life essence sprout, growing day by day, and is not conspicuous.
Just as people in normal circumstances do not notice their breathing, moreover there is also the Dao fruit, such a fundamental treasure, attracting attention.
One only needs to use magical power to construct a life-related state; in that state, hook the life essence sprout onto the Dao fruit, attract the three flowers to bloom, and cause the five qi to emerge together.
After success, the life cultivation and the Dao fruit are hooked together, naturally united; at that time the three flowers gather at the top, the five qi converge to the origin, wrapping the Dao fruit, and there is no need to actively maintain this state.
It changes from active maintenance to passive, requiring no mental effort, and the Taiyi True forms naturally.
Thereafter, as usual, one just accumulates magical power and cultivates life in dual practice.
Until the wrapped Dao fruit is filled and polished; after completion, one can then go to open up one's own Great Luo Heaven.
Deposit the Dao fruit, connect to the primordial wilderness, and achieve Great Luo.
Accumulating magical power can rely on external forces, by consuming heavenly treasures and earthly gems; but life cultivation can only rely on oneself, it is water-grinding work, gradually wearing away with time.
After Qi separated from Hongjun at that time, he found a quiet place in the Luo River, closed off to cultivate, and in only a thousand years became a Taiyi Golden Immortal.
Most of that time was spent developing adaptation to that state, striving to find the most suitable way for oneself.
The remaining time was spent observing one's changes in that state.
After becoming a Taiyi, Qi no longer wanted to drift leisurely in the clouds; he caught a ferocious beast resembling a hawk, used magical power to disturb its senses, and flew toward Mount Buzhou.
All the way he sped, traveling seventeen thousand years, killing over a hundred ferocious beasts, Qi finally saw the body of Mount Buzhou, his heart filled with an indescribable excitement.
The true blood within his body seemed to awaken, surging and tumultuous, his heart beating wildly, a vague yet palpable pressure permeated heaven and earth, yet it made people excited without end.
Qi saw the Great Dao leading into the mountains; on the Great Dao, his mind and spirit were excited, with a pilgrim's feeling, he walked toward Mount Buzhou.
Step by step he walked toward the mountains; the pressure permeating heaven and earth grew more apparent as Qi drew nearer to Mount Buzhou.
By the time he reached the mountain's base, the pressure had become noticeable enough for Qi to feel pressure.
At that moment, Qi saw a stone tablet, on which there were many short traces of various colors.
Some traces had begun to fade; some were continuously disappearing, returning to the stone's original state; while others still shone.
Qi reached out and touched the first trace, feeling a golden light shine; he suddenly knew whose trace it was.
Heavenly Emperor Cangli.
Qi felt it was exactly like leaving a mark at a scenic spot saying 'so-and-so was here'.
Touching them one by one, the Dao resonances varied—some warm, some cold—all left by predecessors of the Dao, who left their Dao resonance and names here.
From them Qi also found many names that left deep impressions in his memory, and also found the names of gods he knew.
Yuan Feng, Zu Long, Shi Qilin, Hongjun. Moreover, beside the name of Yuan Feng there was another name tightly attached: Yuan Huang.
Those familiar names include Xi, Wa, Di Jun, Taiyi, Yang Mei, Qian Kun, Yuan Shi, Tai Qing, Shang Qing, Ming He, Hong Yun, …
Among them, there were two obvious traces that had just been carved recently; their names were Di Jun and Taiyi!
Qi calmed his mindset, condensed a point of white light between his fingers, made a stroke on the stone tablet, leaving his Dao trace and name.
At the same time he also told himself in his heart, this is also part of the scenic spot.
After carving the Dao trace, Qi found that this heaven and earth were constantly wearing away the Dao trace; that is also why those traces fade and gradually disappear.
Qi began to climb the mountain.
With each step forward, the pressure increased a bit; the Dao resonance emanating from Qi's body, under the pressure, became round and full.
During the ascent, the dissipated Dao resonance gathered on the ground beneath his feet, forming part of the road.
The road grew narrower the further one went; ten years passed in a flash, and the initially wide Great Dao had become only a mountain trail, yet it remained solid and unbroken.
The pressure between heaven and earth was extremely severe; Qi's breathing had become very heavy, and he also saw beside the road a stern man wearing a gold-threaded robe, head crowned with a stellar radiance crown, sitting in meditation.
The stern man saw Qi's arrival, had the idea to communicate, but quickly refused, did not rise, merely raised his hand in a reluctant salute, and said:
"I am Di Jun; I should properly offer full rites, but at this moment I am in a sorry state, forgive me for not being able to discuss with you, fellow Daoist; my younger brother Taiyi is ahead, his talent surpasses mine, fellow Daoist you may go on ahead; I am unable to attend to anything else."
After speaking, he closed his eyes to cultivate, no longer paying attention to Qi.
Qi felt a bit dazed, but had no desire to communicate; anyway they could meet later outside, and he was also curious about the legendary first person under the sage, Donghuang Taiyi, so he remained silent, quickened his pace, and pursued forward.
After walking another year, at this point Qi's steps were difficult, relying solely on will to walk, wanting to catch up with Taiyi.
Taiyi was only three hundred steps away from Qi, but Qi knew he could not catch up; he had reached his limit.
"Fellow Daoist, please stop; you must act within your ability."
Qi also felt helpless, knowing he must stop here; he had no ability to go further.
Thus he sat down right there to cultivate.
At this moment there was no road beneath Qi's feet, but behind him there was a winding small path emitting white light; that was Qi's Dao, the Dao of purification.
This is not learning the yin-yang transformation of the white lotus; it is Qi's true Dao.
The Dao that makes all qi return to their essence, although similar to yin-yang transformation, is nevertheless a completely different Dao.
Qi understood, this is the blessing left by the great god Pangu to all beings, allowing beings, while gradually strengthening their resistance to pressure, to understand their true Dao.
The seated Qi finally understood his own Dao; previously incomprehensible questions, when explained with the present Dao, become very clear.
Looking again at the White Lotus Purifying the World, Universal Transformation, Illuminating the Dao, Beginning True Scripture, its nature is now completely different.
Previously one could only count the last four characters, 'the beginning of illuminating the Dao', but had forgotten the words 'White Lotus Purifying the World, Universal Transformation'.
Taiyi felt helpless; his elder brother had gotten him into trouble, this person is stubborn and does not understand the Dao.
Originally an innate divine being with abundant blessings, yet he does not know how to utilize his own advantages.
Clearly the Dao resonance had already given hints, yet he clung stubbornly to yin-yang transformation, abandoning the root for the branches; despite his extraordinary talent, he went down the wrong path and never returned.
Never mind; after leaving, remind him that only a Dao suited to oneself is the correct Dao.
Excessively pursuing the principle of creating heaven will only ruin oneself; although speaking superficially but with deep meaning is not good, nevertheless one cannot ignore when someone goes astray and pretend not to see.
Suddenly, Taiyi noticed that the breath of the person behind him had changed, becoming more natural; turning his head, he saw that person had understood the Dao.
Taiyi felt much better, having witnessed a person's sudden enlightenment, understood oneself and heard the Dao, and so turned back to remind Qi to stop, for going too far is as bad as not enough.
After Qi stopped and walked another two hundred steps, he felt that continuing would harm his mind and spirit, so he stopped walking; Taiyi turned back and glanced at Qi again.
Thinking this person was passable, he hesitated a moment, then turned and walked toward Qi.
