Chapter 81: with translation of chapter title
Gather all the water under heaven and pour it backwards into the undying volcano?!
Everyone felt astonished in their hearts.
Qi was also calculating the feasibility of this matter and its subsequent impact.
How much water vapor have we borrowed so far? How will we repay it? When a large amount of water vapor enters the undying volcano, how will we deal with the mist produced by the clash of water and fire?
Through which points will the waters of all the water deities enter the undying volcano, and what impact will this have on the living beings along the way? Have we made sufficient preparations?
Faced with Qi's deadly questioning, Yuan Feng was stunned for a moment, then began to organize his words: "Friend Dao, please allow me to explain slowly; most of the eastern water deities have already agreed to lend their water vapor, awaiting final confirmation before we discuss the routes for the water vapor."
Pouring all the water under heaven backwards into the undying volcano will, according to the calculations of the Great God Hongjun, produce a large amount of vapor, which will be held back by Mount Buzhou and several high mountains, then in the wilderness sky form a new world.
Just as the Heavenly Dao is about to emerge, this world I, the poor Daoist, shall also call the heavenly realm, which is quite fitting.
Hongjun also laughed at the side.
Hearing this, Qi involuntarily raised his head, but said nothing, merely continuing to wait for the explanation of the remaining questions.
As for repayment, the Phoenix clan will settle with fire crystals; by then the mountain fires will have subsided, and those fire crystals can naturally be mined again.
Those vast quantities of high-quality fire crystals are more than enough to pay for this water vapor; with the water vapor currently borrowed, there remains a surplus of about seventy thousand strands.
I also hope that fellow Daoists can lend a hand to relieve the Phoenix clan of this worry and remove a calamity from the wilderness world.
Yuan Feng raised his hand to bow, but Qi stopped him, helped him up, and said: "Since Fellow Daoist Yuan Feng is undertaking this great merit of moving heaven and earth, I naturally will not play the villain; the remainder is not much, so I will make up these seventy thousand strands of water vapor here."
Upon hearing this, Yuan Feng and Hongjun were both somewhat surprised; over the years they have wandered the wilderness and know how difficult it is to obtain this water vapor.
Yet they never imagined that Qi could, by his own power, make up the remaining seventy thousand strands of water vapor.
Before this, they had visited many water deities; aside from the Four Seas, they had collected only over a million strands of water vapor, which they had painstakingly gathered.
They had lost much face, accumulating bit by bit—thousands, several thousands, tens of thousands—whether there would be any variables in the end remained unknown.
Seeing their doubt, Qi explained: "Although they are all earth deities, water deities differ greatly; because their water-system attributes vary, the amount of water vapor they can retain also differs greatly."
The river and stream water deities have constantly flowing waters; they must ensure the retained water vapor can keep flowing while also supporting their tributaries, so surplus water vapor is naturally scarce.
Lake and marsh water deities are different; their waters move little, they innately bear the duty of storing water and controlling floods, so they can naturally retain more water vapor.
As the greatest water storage and flood discharge place in the wilderness, Yunmeng Ze, the amount of water vapor I can mobilize is naturally greater.
Yunmeng Ze is vast and boundless, containing lakes numbering in the hundreds of millions; although many are actually not large, overall it can be called the greatest freshwater storage in the wilderness.
Only then did Yuan Feng and Hongjun understand; after all, they are not earth deities, so they were not fully aware of this.
In any case, Yuan Feng first thanks Fellow Daoist Qi; I will go discuss with them, settle the inland water system of the wilderness and the routes for the water vapor, then inform Fellow Daoist Qi.
This matter is of utmost importance; Yuan Feng cannot linger long, so I must take my leave first.
Yuan Feng took his leave first; he needs to contact many water deities and also study how these water vapors should enter the Nan Fang Continent.
Moreover, Yuan Huang has not yet awakened, and the Phoenix clan weighs on his mind. "Fellow Daoist Yuan Feng, please go about your business; I too must prepare the preliminary arrangements for transferring the water vapor, so as to accomplish this great undertaking as soon as possible."
Qi also did not care about Yuan Feng's comings and goings; Hongjun and the others' visit this time has added quite a bit of work for him.
Seeing this, Hongjun laughed loudly and said, "Good!"
Now that these matters are settled, this poor Daoist should return to Jade Capital Mountain to cultivate in seclusion for a while; I have been lax these past years, so I will not disturb you, little friend.
Until we meet again, this poor Daoist bids farewell.
Hongjun clasped his hands, summoned a lucky cloud, and slowly flew toward the direction of Jade Exchange Mountain.
Qi and Yuan Feng clasped hands to see him off.
Fellow Daoist Qi, Yuan Feng takes his leave.
Immediately, Yuan Feng transformed into a stream of light and vanished at Tian Ji.
Taiyi saw Qi return to the Heart-of-the-Pond Pavilion, greeted them to play chess, and could not help but ask curiously: "Aren't you supposed to be preparing the water vapor transfer? How do you still have time to amuse yourselves with us?"
Qi gave Taiyi a glance and said:
Those matters are for Yuan Feng to consider; as for the water vapor, it is simply placed in the water eye, and Yunmeng Ze usually has little fluctuation, so what preparation is needed?
It's merely that I am too lazy to keep entertaining them; every time they come, there is nothing good, and since the Ferocious Beast Calamity, not a single one has come for cultivation, visiting friends, or discussing the Dao.
They are all here to ask for help cleaning up their messes; I do not know why, but the present primordial deities seem to have forgotten their duties altogether.
Nowadays there is hardly a trace of primordial deity bearing; all their actions and thoughts are merely petty schemes of flies and dogs.
What they plot is nothing more than the fortunes of all beings, dreaming of dominating the wilderness.
Qi's voice carried a hint of frustration at their inability to live up to expectations; as primordial deities, they actually forget the responsibilities they bear.
Fuxi heard Qi's words, feeling as if he had grasped some important information, yet he never understood what that information was; alone at his side he fell into deep thought. Since this phenomenon only began after the Ferocious Beast Calamity ended, it must represent that during the calamity something of great impact occurred.
Fuxi recalled an incident, but he was not certain whether the impact had appeared only after that event.
Taiyi had no particular reaction to Qi's words; he thought it quite normal, saying:
With such strength, it is normal to give rise to such ambition; after all, unifying the wilderness, with the mandate of fortune, it would be expected to achieve the Mixed Yuan in one fell swoop.
Possessing such strength, with the clan developing well, to lack ambition to dominate the wilderness would actually be strange.
Taiyi, however, found this reasonable; this is also Qi's helplessness, but he cannot fathom why the present primordial deities seem to have become restless all of a sudden.
From their bearing, one can hardly see any of their former calm composure and confidence of victory.
Clearly the primordial deities' status remains at the pinnacle of the wilderness, occupying the vast majority of the world's fortune; even if the Heavenly Dao is about to emerge, it still would not affect them.
Fuxi suddenly rose with a somewhat solemn expression and said: "Upon hearing Qi's words, I have formed a slight conjecture; I just do not know whether this is the cause."
