Chapter 139: Sky Screen Live Streaming System (14)

~9 min read 1,654 words

It was already high noon by the time they got home; it was too late to cook, so Xie Yang simply took the children downstairs to eat.

There was a Complex shopping mall right next to the subway station. The residential complex where Xie Yang lived was at Subway Exit A, while the Complex was at Exit C. The elevator went straight to the basement level; without entering the subway turnstiles, a short walk led directly to the mall's underground garage.

Seeing the garage packed with cars, the two children looked around, curiosity written all over their faces.

Xie Jinchu: "Auntie, there are so, so many cars here."

Little Jinchu already knew that these square, big iron boxes were called cars.

"This is an underground parking lot. When people come to the mall to eat, shop, or watch movies, they park their cars here."

"Is this underground?" Xie Jilin asked, incredibly surprised.

No wonder he hadn't seen any windows; it turned out they were actually underground.

Looking up at the smooth ceiling and the bright ceiling lights, he thought to himself: Even the secret chambers here are brighter than Uncle Emperor's sleeping quarters.

"That's right. Parking on the surface is difficult, so we have to develop underground. This level is called the first basement level, and it's a parking lot. Further down are the second and third basement levels, which are the subway stations."

"What is a subway station?" Little Jinchu was a curious baby; she asked whenever she didn't understand.

"A subway station... Auntie will take you to experience it tomorrow."

"Okay!"

The mall had six floors in total; the dining area was mainly concentrated on the fourth and fifth floors, and the sixth floor was the cinema.

However, it wasn't a holiday or festival right now, and there were no movies suitable for children, so it wouldn't be too late to bring them when summer vacation arrived.

Xie Yang took the children up to the fourth floor by elevator and looked at the restaurants one by one, letting the children pick the ones they were interested in; if they couldn't decide, they would go up to the fifth floor to keep looking.

The brother and sister were practically dazzled; they hadn't eaten at any of them, and they were interested in all of them.

For some reason, food from the Yunnan-Guizhou region had become quite popular over the past two years, primarily sour and spicy.

Xie Yang worried that the children's stomachs were weak and that they would easily get an upset stomach if they ate that, and it just so happened that a Cantonese tea house had recently opened on the fourth floor. This was perfect! It was not only light, but the two children likely had no chance to taste Cantonese cuisine in Daliang, so she took them inside for their first experience.

"Come, you two order this time."

Xie Yang handed the menu to the brother and sister, letting them order what they liked.

It was the siblings' first time ordering; they were both excited and happy, looking at the menu with their hands touching and heads together.

"Auntie, Jinbao wants to eat this."

Little Jinchu's chubby little finger pointed at the picture of the Jade Rabbit custard buns.

"If you want to eat it, then order it."

"Brother wants to eat this." Little Jinchu pointed again at the nearly transparent crystal shrimp dumplings.

Xie Yang laughed: "Is it you who wants to eat it, or does Brother want to eat it?"

"Jinbao and Brother both want to eat."

Xie Jilin nodded: "I want to eat it."

He had become a sister-obsessed brother at such a young age.

Xie Yang suppressed a laugh and said: "Fine, if you want to eat it, order it. If you can't finish, you can pack it up."

And so, the two children ordered one dish after another, and before long, they had ordered seven or eight items.

In addition to the Jade Rabbit custard buns and crystal shrimp dumplings, they also ordered red rice rolls, coconut buns, egg tarts, rice noodle rolls, pork ribs with black bean sauce, and crispy roasted pigeon.

Xie Jilin indicated that was enough; it was too much and they couldn't finish it.

But in reality, the portions of Cantonese dim sum were small, usually three pieces per serving, so once the three of them—aunt and niece/nephew—each had one, it was gone.

Xie Yang additionally ordered them a cup of classic Hong Kong-style milk tea and a cup of hand-shaken lemon tea, pouring them into small cups for both of them to taste.

However, she only let them taste a small cup each; after all, it contained tea polyphenols, and if they drank too much, they wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

Even though they had eaten snacks on the plane, they were hungry by this time, and as soon as the food was served, the one adult and two children buried their heads and started eating, unable to spare a moment to talk.

Meanwhile, in the Daliang Kingdom under the Sky Screen, people everywhere stopped their work from time to time to look up at the firmament:

【There are so many people in the Heavenly Palace! It's like a bustling market.】

【The big markets here have many people too, but the variety of food isn't as great as this.】

【How can the Heavenly Palace have so many varied kinds of food?】

【The little rabbit buns the Princess ordered are truly unique. Actually, little rabbits aren't hard to mold, but they were only ever used for dough figurines before; I never expected they could be used for pastries.】

【What is that red, rolled-up thing? It looks very delicious.】

【Mother! Mother! I want to eat roasted pigeon! I don't want it braised or grilled, I want the kind made in the Heavenly Palace!】

The live stream turned into a food broadcast, making a crowd of young children cry with longing.

The clamor of children crying and demanding to eat Jade Rabbit buns, red rice rolls, and crispy roasted pigeon rose one after another throughout Daliang.

As for the three of them, now full and satisfied, they had already gone down to the third floor clothing section and were browsing a children's clothing store.

Unlike the restaurants which were packed and required waiting for a seat, the offline clothing store seemed much quieter.

Especially the children's clothing store; apart from the three of them, there were no other customers, and the sales clerk patiently helped them find the right sizes and helped them try things on.

Finally, Xie Yang picked out two sets of spring/autumn clothes and two sets of summer clothes for each of the children.

Everything bought this time was in a modern style; Hanfu and Tang-style clothing were ultimately still too eye-catching.

And sure enough, just as she had said the children's clothing store had no other customers besides the three of them, several groups flooded in within a short time.

The key was that once they came in, they didn't buy anything or browse; they just watched Jinbao and Linbao try on clothes with smiles on their faces.

When the two children changed back into their Hanfu, the onlookers rested their chins on their hands and exclaimed, "So cute."

Or they would ask if the two were little child stars, competing to take photos with them.

Xie Yang sighed, hurriedly bought a few pairs of socks, two pairs of Velcro breathable sneakers suitable for running and jumping for each, and a pair of leather shoes, then checked out and left.

She had originally wanted to buy them little sun hats for the summer, small water bottles for when they went out, and the like, but with more and more people watching, she wasn't in the mood to shop anymore and simply decided to go home and buy them online.

Now she knew the clothing and shoe sizes for both children, and there were many children's clothing brands online where she could buy everything in one stop.

Before going home, she went to the supermarket on the first floor to buy some fruit and vegetables.

The siblings had never seen such a large supermarket; they had previously marveled at a convenience store with three small storefronts in the Film and Television City, so now that they had entered the supermarket, they didn't have enough eyes to take it all in.

Xie Yang placed her niece in the shopping cart to sit, and her nephew held onto the cart basket, pushing it as they strolled slowly.

They replenished some daily necessities suitable for children, then went to the fresh food section to select a few ingredients and fruits that interested them; before checking out, they passed through the snack aisle and were allowed to pick five snacks each, only then did they head back home.

After arriving home, Xie Yang cut the tags off the new clothes and shoes, put the clothes into the washer-dryer combo, started the new clothes rinse mode, and placed the shoes on the balcony to air out.

After finishing these tasks, she went to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

The rice cooker cooked the rice;

The Induction Cooker boiled water to blanch chicken wings, as she would soon make them a dish of cola chicken wings;

The steamer's upper rack steamed the Fish, and the lower rack steamed the winter melon;

The oven preheated, as she would soon bake a few cupcake muffins for tomorrow's breakfast.

The small appliances in the kitchen were all working at once, which the two children watched with wide, unblinking eyes:

A pot that cooks by itself once you put rice grains inside?

A pot that can boil water and stir-fry dishes without seeing any fire?

A box that cooks fish and vegetables by itself once you put them inside?

Could they all be Immortal Artifacts? How magical!!!
