Chapter 289: Universal Planting System (28)
Che Yin'an was both shocked and furious.
It was as if he were meeting Xie Yang for the first time.
This woman! How could this woman dare!
If not for the fact that he had come burdened with a Task, he would have loved to just walk away right now.
He took a deep breath, suppressed the irritation in his heart, and tried his best to speak calmly: "Won't you invite me in to sit for a while?"
"Who are you?"
Xie Yang was holding her son and comforting him; hearing this, she looked up and sized him up.
He looked decent enough, but based on his attitude toward the little beast cub, she couldn't muster any good feelings for him.
Che Yin'an, however, thought Xie Yang was pretending not to recognize him, still holding a grudge from being banished from Yilan Star five years ago.
He pursed his lips: "Why must you ask when you know the answer? Regarding what happened back then, you were the one at fault first. It wasn't me who banished you, nor was it the Che Family, but the laws of the Capital Star. Why must you keep dwelling on it?"
Xie Yang: "..."
Good grief!
She really meant good grief!
So after all this time, this guy was the sweetheart the original owner had been pining for?
Was the original owner blind!
How could she find such a biological father for the little cub? It would have been better if the "father was unknown"!
Seeing her stunned expression, Che Yin'an thought she had taken his words to heart, so he relaxed slightly and continued: "I came today because I want to bury the hatchet with you, and incidentally, take you back to the Capital Star."
"Don't!" Xie Yang held her son and stepped back a few paces, reaching out to stop him from coming closer, "Absolutely not! I have nothing to do with you! Let's put it this way: five years ago when I was banished from the Capital Star, I swore then that I would never set foot in the Capital Star again in this lifetime! Nor will I have any further involvement with the Che Family or the Xie Family!"
"Xie Yang!"
"Don't call my name! You aren't worthy!"
"..."
Seeing that she was completely unreasonable, Che Yin'an became truly annoyed: "Can you stop making a scene? Isn't it just that you want to marry me and marry into the Che Family? If you are obedient, I can consider..."
Xie Yang laughed in anger: "Get lost! Stop polluting the air on my turf!"
"Xie Yang!"
Che Yin'an was so ashamed he became angry.
Seeing that soft tactics wouldn't work, he wanted to use force, intending to knock her down and take her away.
Just then, a roaring sound of a Flying Vehicle accelerating came from the horizon.
Immediately, a flash of Silver appeared in the field of vision, as if it had broken through the firmament.
In an instant, a high-end modified silver-gray Flying Vehicle appeared on the helipad in front of Xie Yang's house.
Before the Flying Vehicle had even come to a complete stop, the cabin door opened, and a handsome, agile figure leaped down.
"Ms. Xie."
Xing Lan strode over to Xie Yang with his long legs, his cold gaze sweeping over her face once before he solemnly extended his hand:
"This is our second meeting. I am Xing Lan, serving in the First Legion, sent under orders to protect Ms. Xie. Please treat me well!"
"Mommy, it's that Gene Warrior uncle!"
Xie Ting whispered excitedly in Xie Yang's ear.
Xie Yang: "..."
Your memory certainly hasn't faded at a time like this.
She held the baby with one arm and freed a hand to shake hands with Xing Lan.
After shaking hands, Xing Lan took Xie Ting over.
Xie Yang thought the little guy would be at least a bit shy, but unexpectedly, he stared fixedly at Xing Lan and suddenly asked: "Uncle, will you hate me?"
"Hm? Why would I hate you?"
"Because I'm not a Gene Warrior!" Xie Ting said, drooping his head in frustration and twisting his little claws, "I really want to become a Gene Warrior! But Xiya said Gene Warriors are very hard to become, and Xiya and I both failed."
Xing Lan coldly glanced at Che Yin'an, then softened his tone when he looked back at Xie Ting: "I can teach you the combat techniques of a Gene Warrior. Do you want to learn?"
"I do!"
The little guy's eyes were bright.
Then, not knowing what he thought of, he twisted his recently plump little fingers and asked shyly: "Can Xiya learn too?"
"Yes."
"Thank you, Gene Warrior uncle!"
The little guy imitated his mother's action of kissing his cheek and planted a big kiss on Xing Lan's face.
Xing Lan raised an eyebrow, and two small dimples faintly appeared at the corners of his smiling mouth.
He put Xie Ting down: "Go call your companion over."
"Okay!"
The little guy ran happily behind the house to share this good news with his little friend.
Once the cub left, the smile on Xing Lan's face vanished completely; he met Che Yin'an's scrutinizing gaze with a sharp look, his tone extremely cold:
"Mr. Che is, after all, a person of status and reputation; to be so lacking in discretion in one's words and actions, are you not afraid of being stripped of your qualification as the next head of the Che Family?"
"Are you threatening me?"
Che Yin'an had grown up and this was the first time he had been mocked like this, and the one mocking him was the top student who had always suppressed him back when they were in military academy. Added to Xie Yang's contrasting attitudes toward the two of them, it made him feel dissatisfied, and words born of lost reason blurted out:
"Don't think that just because you serve in the Military Department, I can't do anything to you. You are nothing but a dog raised by the Military Department... Ah! Xie Yang, what are you doing! You woman! How dare you hit me..."
"So what if I hit you!"
Xie Yang loosened her wrists and raised her hand to swing another punch at Che Yin'an.
"This punch is for my past blindness!"
"This punch is to pay back the wealth, resources, and energy I spent on you in the past!"
"This punch is to commemorate my years of displacement!"
"The last punch is to vent my son's anger for him!"
"That's enough! Get lost now! Don't ever appear in front of me again! I'll beat you every time you show up!"
Xie Yang rewarded him with four punches and tossed him onto his own Flying Vehicle.
It wasn't that she was showing mercy, but that her little cub was coming over with his little friends, and it was ultimately inappropriate for a mother to display violence in front of her son.
Che Yin'an looked at his bruised and swollen face in the rearview screen, feeling both hatred and fear; how had this woman become so terrifying?
Who exactly had she been hanging out with these past five years? Star Pirates?
So it was correct that he hadn't liked her back then; who would like such a violent and hot-tempered woman!
"Still not leaving!"
Xie Yang roared at him.
"..."
Che Yin'an was so angry his hands trembled and his face turned livid; he gritted his back teeth and started the Flying Vehicle.
But thinking of his father's instructions before he left, and the trouble he would face if he didn't bring her back, he suppressed the complex emotions in his heart, pressed the hover button, rolled down the porthole, and looked down at the woman on the ground: "Are you really not coming back with me? I promise..."
Xie Yang didn't even look at him; after entrusting the two excited little ones to Xing Lan, she went straight to the backyard to attend to her own business.
Che Yin'an stayed in place for a while, and seeing that no one paid him any mind, and unable to bring himself to land again to soften his stance toward Xie Yang, he gritted his teeth and simply flew away from the Xie Family.
"That guy left?"
Xie Yang was squatting in the vegetable field checking the germination of a batch of new seeds, and seeing Xing Lan walk over, she asked casually.
Xing Lan nodded and asked as if it were a casual remark: "How did you ever fall for him back then?"
"I was blind, that's how!"
"..."
He looked at her beautiful profile and let out a low laugh.
Before coming, the Captain had jokingly told him to use a beauty trap to try and win over this dual Master of Cooking and Planting, so that the benefits wouldn't go to outsiders; honestly, he had been repulsed by the idea at the time.
But seeing her dashing and heroic posture while beating someone up just now, and her gentle and beautiful profile in this moment of peaceful time, his heartbeat seemed to skip a beat.
Although he had never been in love, his endorphins and dopamine told him: this was the signal of a heart fluttering.
