Chapter 344: Campus Academic System (16)
The next day, Saturday.
Early in the morning, Xie Yang followed her parents to Jianglan Mingzhu to clean and decorate.
Once the hourly worker finished cleaning and left, the mother and daughter added some necessary furniture and appliances, and the entire apartment took on a brand-new look:
A spacious and bright living room, a floor-to-ceiling window spanning the entire wall, and a large solid wood table in the center, more than enough to seat over a dozen people.
Against the north wall were leather sofas and massage chairs for everyone to rest when tired from studying.
The side wall featured a floor-to-ceiling bookcase; besides supplementary teaching materials, it displayed many popular comics, novels, magazines, and pictorials on the market. The cabinet surface was a retractable large projection screen, which could be used to watch study videos or documentaries during breaks.
The gym next to the living room was converted into a leisure activity room: a pool table, a square table specifically for board games, and a double-player foosball table were added; naturally, some fitness equipment was also kept.
The kitchen and dining area were packed with food and drinks, and the refrigerator was stocked with chilled beverages, desserts, fruits, and ice cream.
Xie Yang filmed a vlog and posted it to the newly created group.
Besides her and that group of lackeys, Jiang Yinian was also in this group.
After uploading the video, she sent a location pin.
As the group owner, she tagged everyone:
【Everyone, the Buke Jidi for our study group has been finalized. Location: Jianglan Mingzhu, Building 8, Unit 2, 1201 (location sent). Time: Saturday and Sunday, 10:00-16:00.】
【Since it was just set up this week, the timing is flexible for everyone. But starting next week, brothers who are definitely coming must strictly adhere to the time.】
The group of lackeys: "..."
Damn! Is Sister Yang for real?
"What do we do? Sister Yang is for real. Are you guys going?"
"Do we dare not go? If we don't, she won't pay us any mind anymore."
"But this so-called study group, just hearing about it makes me sleepy. How are we supposed to study!"
Last night, Sister Yang played until 11:30 and insisted on going home. Without their big sister, they felt it was dull, so they went to play escape rooms and didn't get home until 3:00 a. m.
Waking up at noon, they saw the notification Sister Yang sent to the group and were so scared they hurriedly started a small group, hiding from Sister Yang to hold a video conference and discuss countermeasures.
"How about I say I'm sick? Limbs weak, dizzy when I stand up?"
"Then I'll say my mom's dizziness flared up and I have to accompany her to the hospital?"
"Huh? You guys already found excuses? What about me?"
"Cheng Zixin, who are you talking to? What do you mean your mom's dizziness flared up? When have I ever had dizziness? And you need to accompany me to the hospital? Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey! You brat! How dare you curse your own mother!"
Mother Cheng had come upstairs to call her son to get up and go visit her niece who was currently in postpartum confinement. Pushing the door open, she heard her unfilial son using her health as an excuse and was so angry she grabbed a feather duster, ready to beat him.
Cheng Zixin realized things were going south and hurriedly held up his phone to explain:
"Mom! Mom! Look, I'm on a video call! It's not just me, Xue Qian and the others are also looking for excuses... Ouch! It hurts, it hurts! Listen to me explain! It's Sister Yang. She transferred to First High School, and I don't know who brainwashed her lately, but she's obsessed with studying and even started some study group. She insists we go to her place on the weekend for tutoring and said if we don't go, we're not brothers anymore..."
"You're talking about Xie Yang? Lao Xie's precious daughter? She transferred to First High School? When did that happen? Can she even get into First High School with her grades?" Mother Cheng was incredibly surprised.
Cheng Zixin scratched his head: "Aiya! That's not the point! The point is she just sent a notice in the group telling us to go to her place for tutoring on Saturday and Sunday, from ten in the morning to four in the afternoon. Who can handle that..."
Although Mother Cheng still didn't quite understand, she glared at her son crossly upon hearing this:
"Stop spouting nonsense! Look at Xie Yang, she's turned over a new leaf and knows how to strive for improvement. Why are you still like this? Go, go, go! You must go! If you don't, get your butt to school; stop being an eyesore at home."
"..."
Similar situations occurred with the other lackeys.
After their parents learned about this, they gave their full support:
"Lao Xie's daughter transferred to First High School? And she's obsessed with studying lately? Lao Xie really knows how to teach his child!"
"Son, you need to show some ambition too! Your dad's business has been struggling with turnover lately and I can't pull out twenty million to transfer you to First High School, but you can follow Lao Xie's daughter for tutoring. With your intelligence, as long as you study hard, you'll catch up soon!"
"Lao Xie's daughter took the lead to form a mutual-aid study group? Good, good, good! This is much better than you guys wandering around and not doing your jobs all day! You must go! Why wouldn't you?"
"How much is the tutoring fee? Mom will pay it for you!"
"The Xie Family provided the venue, so our family will handle lunch! Ask Xie Yang and the others which restaurant they like, and Mom will arrange it."
"The Xie Family provides the venue, the Cheng Family pays the tutoring fees, the Lin Family handles lunch, and the Xue Family covers afternoon tea... Our family can't just contribute nothing and take advantage, right? How about this, our family will hire a driver and buy a larger commercial vehicle specifically to be responsible for picking you up and dropping you off for tutoring."
"..."
The group of lackeys watched as their parents actively distributed the logistics work, feeling utterly hopeless.
Handling meals, money, and afternoon tea was one thing, but why were they arranging a private car for transport?
What was this about picking them up one by one before ten, taking them all to the Buke Jidi, and then dropping them home one by one after class in the evening?
If this kept up, would they ever be able to sleep in again?
Also, the evening after class was their free time; if they were dropped home, how could they be wild and free?
The group of lackeys collectively complained to Xie Yang.
Xie Yang was amused: "I didn't expect your families to be so supportive of our study group and tutoring plan? Thank your uncles and aunts for me! Thank them for their moral support and material sponsorship!"
After sighing, she added: "Originally, I thought if you really didn't want to study, you could just read comics or novels, as long as you stayed quiet. But since your families value this so much, I have to adjust the plan..."
"!!!"
What?
If they hadn't alerted their families, even if they came to the Buke Jidi, they wouldn't necessarily have to study? They could just quietly read the comics and novels they liked? After finishing the day, they could go wherever they wanted?
Unlike now—because of their families' intervention, Sister Yang had to re-assign them actual study tasks, and they would be driven home after class, unable to do as they pleased?
Heavens!
If they had known, they wouldn't have bothered hiding from Sister Yang to discuss anything!
They discussed it for nothing!
No! It was worse than nothing!
So much so that when they were dropped off at the Buke Jidi by their families' private cars on Saturday afternoon, they all looked resentful, as if they had been dumped by their lovers.
"Sister Yang, how about we stick to what we agreed on at the beginning? Don't assign us any study tasks; I just want to catch up on sleep right now."
"Me too, I am physically and mentally exhausted, I desperately need to catch up on sleep!"
"Sister Xie Yang, can you tell my mom and the others not to arrange cars to pick us up? We still want to go to A-Xin's club and play all night!"
Xie Yang spread her hands, indicating she was unable to help: "This wasn't arranged by me for your parents to handle."
