【Ding! Detected...】

As the number of zombies Zhong Xiaoshi burned to ash increased, the 【Ding】 sounds in Xie Yang's sea of consciousness rose one after another.

Piles of Trading Coins seemed to be beckoning to her.

But she had no intention of selling them to the Trading System.

Instead, after disinfecting them, she put the colorful Zombie Crystal Cores into sealed bags, deciding to take them back to study before making any further plans.

After working for an hour or so, the zombies in the breeding farm were finally all cleared out.

Xie Yang collected a small bag of Zombie Crystal Cores, and also filled ten burlap sacks with Zombie Ash.

Yu Baozhi tried the Beast Domestication Technique, only to find that the ones responding to her call, besides two sheepdogs, were just one large black pig, one large white goose, one large rooster, and two ducks, one male and one female.

The rest seemed as if they hadn't gained sentience; the pigs were still grunting hungrily in the pig pens, while the chickens, ducks, and geese were flying and scurrying all over the place, scratching for food everywhere.

"Yang Yang, what's going on? Why won't those chickens, ducks, geese, and pigs listen to me?"

Xie Yang couldn't figure it out either; could it be that the domestication technique depends on the animals' intelligence?

Or perhaps it is harder to domesticate poultry and livestock that are purely farmed and have not been "awakened"?

On second thought, this also had its benefits!

"Mom, if they can't understand us, we won't have any psychological burden when we slaughter them. If they could communicate just like humans, we wouldn't be able to bring ourselves to do it."

Once Yu Baozhi heard this, she realized it made sense and stopped fretting. She conveyed instructions to the few that could understand, telling them to bring their respective "tribes" over to line up and get on the trucks in a while.

The Recreational Vehicle couldn't fit so many chickens, ducks, geese, and pigs. Fortunately, there were two trucks at the breeding farm: one was a nine-meter-plus-tall three-tier pig transport truck, and the other was a box-type small cargo truck.

It was likely they had come here to stock up, but the apocalypse arrived before they could be driven away.

Xie Yongcheng modified both trucks:

For the nine-meter-plus-tall pig transport truck, he used his Metal Ability to heighten the fences and partitions, then dismantled the original three tiers into four; the bottom two tiers were for transporting pigs, and the top two were for the chickens, ducks, and geese.

The box truck was also reinforced to haul the unexpired feed.

That's right, this so-called "simulated natural environment" breeding farm actually fed them feed too. Without feed, how could the pigs reach market weight so quickly? How could the chickens, ducks, and geese lay eggs so fast?

It was just that the feed they used was slightly better and cleaner/healthier than ordinary farms, such as broken rice, corn, barley, wheat, bran, rice bran, sorghum, soybean meal, fish meal, meat meal, vegetable cakes, and so on.

Yu Baozhi and Zhong Xiaoshi fed them a meal first, and only after they were full did they drive them onto the trucks.

The others checked all the buildings in the breeding farm. One newly built two-story villa was presumably where the boss would work and rest when inspecting the farm.

The interior was well-decorated, but there weren't many daily supplies; the most abundant items were Tobacco and Alcohol and tea leaves, followed by some Mid-Autumn Festival gift boxes, likely sent by suppliers or clients as the holiday approached.

However, the five single-story houses nearby, which looked unremarkable compared to the villa, were likely the farm's kitchen and Canteen. A lot of Rice, flour, grain, and Edible Oil were stored there; just the 50-jin bags of Rice numbered over a dozen, and there were over a dozen 18-liter barrels of Edible Oil.

There was also flour, dried rice noodles, dried noodles, and oil, Salt, soy sauce, and vinegar, etc.

Unfortunately, the frozen goods in the freezers had rotted, and the ingredients that didn't require freezing had wilted even if they hadn't rotted.

Everyone just took the Rice, flour, grain, Edible Oil, and various seasonings.

There were actually Fish in the lake, a discovery that got everyone excited!

They found a fishing net in the tool room, along with several sets of integrated waterproof waders.

Xie Yongcheng, Qin Tao, Chen Jian, and Xu Mingqi put on the waders and went into the water to net Fish.

Believe it or not, they actually caught quite a lot. Besides Crucian Carp, Grass Carp, bighead carp, river Shrimp, grass Shrimp, and giant river prawns, there were even hairy Crabs!

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approached, the lake Crabs had reached their fattest and most delicious season of the year.

Every single one had a bulging belly shell.

"Wow! These Crabs are so fat!"

"It's the Mid-Autumn Festival in a few days; it's the season for eating Crabs, they'd be fat even if they weren't."

"Slurp! I'm telling you, just looking at them makes me crave them."

"Today really is a huge harvest!"

Everyone was fired up and pulled up several nets.

They didn't let any go, big or small; they planned to take the small ones back to throw into the residential complex's artificial lake to continue raising them.

If it weren't for the fact that the truck beds were truly full, they would have wanted to keep casting the nets.

"Alright, that's it for today. If you like eating them, you can drive that small truck back to net more tomorrow."

Xie Yongcheng made the final call, and only then did everyone finish work.

Before finishing, they didn't forget to go to the tool room to pick out some usable tools.

They also pulled up a few bamboo stalks from the bamboo grove by the roots, whittled a batch of bamboo poles, and tied them up with hemp rope to stack on top of the truck.

They scraped a layer of duck grass and chicken grass from the lakeside, soil and all, and packed them into baskets to take back to plant by the residential complex's lake.

They also packed several burlap sacks of livestock manure to take back for composting.

Now that the entire residential complex was planted full of melons, fruits, and vegetables, there was no such thing as too much fertilizer.

Not until all the vehicles, including the roofs, were packed to the brim did they head back.

With Yu Baozhi communicating with the lead chickens, ducks, pigs, and geese, these poultry and livestock remained quiet and orderly the whole way.

The group successfully hauled the truckload of poultry and livestock back to the residential complex.

As for how to settle them—

They built a row of duck sheds by the lake using bamboo to house the ducks and large geese.

The Chicken Coop was built beside the shaded path lined with corn trees, with melon fields behind it and corn trees on both sides.

There wasn't such a large open space for the Pig Pen, so they simply found three adjacent Heyuan that shared walls, opened them up, and used the main house of the Heyuan to store various types of feed.

A Pig Pen was built in the backyard.

Xie Yongcheng used his Earth Ability, which he had not yet used in front of others, to build a long row of Pig Pens, and the area around the Pig Pens and the front yard were all planted with pigweed.

Pigs are healthier when they eat cooked slop, so a stone stove was also built next to the Pig Pen.

Following the Nongchang in the residential complex, a breeding farm was also established.

However, this meant that manpower was needed to be responsible for this area.

For example, the chicken, duck, and goose coops and the Pig Pen needed to be cleaned regularly, they needed to be given water and fed every day, and the pig slop had to be cooked before feeding.

Fortunately, Yang Qianqian's team still had several girls; Yang Qianqian herself had to take care of her baby, and strictly speaking, she had not yet finished her postpartum recovery period. The situation previously did not allow for it, but now that they had a stable place to live, Yu Baozhi and Zhong Yuling both urged her to take good care of her health, saying that once her health was restored, she could do whatever she wanted, and there was no need to rush at this moment.

Thus, Yang Qianqian stayed behind to take care of the child and look after the base camp.

Yang Xiaoyan and several other girls scrambled to sign up to share these tasks.

Before the apocalypse, how could they have imagined that one day they would have to feed pigs, chickens, ducks, and geese?

Back then, if anyone had said this position would become highly sought after in the future, they definitely would have scoffed at it, yet now they actually had to scramble to do it.
