Chapter 1303: Hot-Blooded Young Man, Online Zombie Slaying 25

~6 min read 1,183 words

Chu Shu climbed into the back seat of the car, lifted this good‑looking person up, and muttered, "Where have I seen you before…?"

He scratched his chin, "Hss…"

He then straightened Su Shan's face, looking left and right.

"Hss…"

After hissing for a while, Chu Shu realized he still couldn't remember.

He only recalled a few blurry images from deep in his memory where this person's face had appeared.

"He must have been terrified by the zombies recently; let's go ask Xiao Zhi when we get back."

Chu Shu nodded, then gently put the person back, carefully protecting his head, saying, "Don't fall again—Jin Ge said you're quite important."

Obviously, no one could answer him.

Chu Shu yawned.

"I'm sleepy."

He leaned against the car window, looking out, "I hope Jin Ge and Doctor Jiang come back safely."

Inside the hospital, a zombie horror was unfolding.

As expected, the situation was grim; the zombie patients in the hospital were even stranger than those outside, and you could run into a few just around the corner.

From the hospital's main gate to the steps above, a short stretch, Jiang Chen had already seen every kind of bizarre zombie he'd never encountered in his life.

For example…

Those with no legs, crawling on hands while clutching raw flesh in their mouths, bodies wrapped in bandages, soaked in blood, rolling on the ground.

The stench of blood permeated the air, like a hellish Asura platform.

Moreover, these zombies were evidently evolving faster than the ones outside, baring fangs, their expressions grotesquely ferocious, trying to turn every living person into one of their kind.

In this suffocating environment, firing a gun was clearly impractical—it was uncertain whether bullets had any effect on the mutated zombies, but making a loud noise would certainly attract more of them.

The two tried to keep their movements quiet, slowly moving upstairs; the floor was littered with shards of glass and various needles, and a careless move could risk infection.

Jin Chen walked ahead, then turned the corner of the lobby corridor, suddenly halted his steps, and slowly stepped back half a pace.

He held his breath and shook his head at Jiang Chen.

This way is blocked.

Jiang Chen glanced with his peripheral vision; beyond the corner lay the ultrasound room, packed with various patient zombies, their mutations even more obvious.

Before leaving, Jin Chen suddenly spotted the blue floor‑to‑ceiling window glass at the end of the corridor.

He silently grabbed Jiang Chen's wrist and whispered, "I'll lure the zombies away; you go upstairs to get the antibiotics and surgical tools."

Jiang Chen's eyes flickered, he seized Jin Chen's hand and shook his head, "No…"

"It's too dangerous; let's find another way."

Jin Chen: "Su Shan has a persistent high fever and severe injuries; we don't have much time."

He pushed Jiang Chen back, "Listen to me, I'll be fine; we'll meet in the top‑floor operating room."

As his words fell, Jin Chen strode to the center of the corridor and fired a shot at the pile of zombies.

With a booming bang, the zombies crowded together in a slow crawl erupted into chaos, sprinting madly toward him, faster than any zombie he had encountered before.

Jin Chen didn't hesitate, turned and ran, his silhouette swift, shooting as he ran.

The zombies on this floor were all drawn to him, and he incidentally found that it likewise took three shots to kill one zombie.

The corridor quickly grew quiet; Jiang Chen hurried upstairs, his face grim and cold, his thoughts becoming ever more tangled.

The person rescued at the base, Jin Chen somehow knew… his name was Su Shan, and compared to others, he cared about him excessively.

Yet this subtle concern could not outweigh Jiang Chen's medical dedication; he still did everything he could to obtain all the supplies needed for the surgery.

Upon reaching the top floor, Jiang Chen again heard the zombies' sounds, along with continuous crashing noises.

His chest tightened; he sprinted toward the window at breakneck speed, hearing the downstairs floor‑to‑ceiling windows crash down one after another, shattering on the ground, zombie corpses piling up.

A thick fishy and bloody smell spread; Jiang Chen scanned left and right, but he could not see Jin Chen's figure anywhere.

"Jin Chen…"

Jiang Chen whispered, his grip on the window sill turning white.

"I'm here."

The voice came from below; Jiang Chen stared, dumbfounded, as Jin Chen grabbed the window sill with both hands, half his body lifting off outside, then effortlessly leapt into the corridor.

Jin Chen smiled at him, "Brother Chen, I…"

Before he could finish, Jiang Chen lunged into his embrace, trembling, eyes shut, exhaling deeply.

Jin Chen held his waist, soothing him with gentle rubs, "I'm fine; did I scare you?"

As Jiang Chen spoke, his throat still felt a bit tight.

"Don't act alone; if I can't see you… I'll get worried."

His voice trembled as well, obviously shaken by what had just happened.

Jin Chen's heart softened; he hurried to soothe, "Sorry, there won't be a next time."

"Let's go get the surgical supplies."

Jiang Chen lifted his gaze to him, the corner of his mouth twitching as he wanted to ask whether Jin Chen knew that person, but he swallowed the words.

"Whether or not he knows him… saving lives is what matters."

The surgical supplies were stored in a dedicated room; although it wasn't this hospital's, the layout was similar, and Jiang Chen quickly located the storeroom.

"The cooling is no longer effective; we can't meet sterile conditions, so we need to operate on him as soon as possible to lower the risk."

After Jiang Chen finished speaking, Jin Chen took the large bundle of equipment and medicine from his arms and stored it all in his space.

"It's fine; time stands still in the space, which is almost like a sterile refrigeration effect."

Having said that, Jin Chen embraced Jiang Chen, intending to leave; he raised his hand, his ear twitched, swiftly lifted his leg to shut the door, and brought the person to lean against the wall beside the door.

Jin Chen slightly covered his ears.

Jiang Chen lowered his eyes, lying quietly on Jin Chen's chest.

Afterwards, a piercing sound rang out, along with fragmented pleas for mercy, but it lasted only two short seconds.

"It's an orthopedic electric drill bone saw." Jiang Chen spoke softly.

Jin Chen broke out in a sweat, "Still a doctor zombie, huh."

He slowly took hold of the handle, and as soon as he heard footsteps nearing, he swiftly opened the door and fired with one hand.

The bullet struck the electric saw, and the sound of it punching through was especially piercing.

The doctor zombie stared bewildered at his suddenly empty hand, then glanced down at the saw already bent by the bullet.

Another three gunshots sounded in succession; the doctor zombie's ferocious expression went blank, he fell flat, and a key slipped from his side pocket.

Jin Chen thought for half a second, then bent over to retrieve the key.
