Chapter 1307: Hot-blooded College Guy, Online Zombie Slaying 29
Oh—
Chu Shu and Zhou Xuan saw the two come down, instantly raising the grapes in their hands and cheering, "Congratulations to the two of you for finally confirming your relationship!"
The popular campus heartthrob Jin Ge is the first in our 618 to get into a relationship!" Zhou Xuan swallowed a grape, "It's simply amazing!"
Ru Yue was still stuffing grapes and rock sugar into the wooden bucket, huffing and puffing as she prepared to make grape wine. Hearing this, she flicked her bangs and lifted her head, "Turns out the university really knows how to pick a campus heartthrob."
Chu Shu: "Hehe, no, we self-proclaimed! I'm the 618's room grass!"
Ru Yue: "……"
There's really nothing to say to this bunch of people with weird brain circuits.
Popular campus heartthrob.
Jiang Chen teased, looking at Jin Chen, "Does that mean I've gained?"
Jin Chen stuffed a grape into his mouth, "Yeah, I'm a super handsome guy that comes once in a century."
"Eh..." the little companions all let out a sigh.
Zhou Xuan: "Jin Ge sells melons."
Chu Shu: "Self-selling self..."
Before the word of praise could be spoken, Liu Zhi entered the courtyard, and they instantly fell silent.
After a few seconds of silence, feeling it was too deliberate, Zhou Xuan gave a light cough, bumped Chu Shu's shoulder, and signaled with his eyes.
You've known Xiao Zhi the longest, you go ask him!
Chu Shu made a bitter gourd face; no matter how long they've known each other, they can't touch the reverse scale called "white moonlight."
Liu Zhi's reaction was calmer than they had imagined.
Of course, it's not ruled out that this is because his facial paralysis prevents him from showing other emotions.
Liu Zhi walked up to Jin Chen and solemnly said thank you.
"I never expected to see him again… and I never imagined it would be like this."
Liu Zhi gave a bitter laugh, "I thought Su Shan would be doing well abroad."
Jin Chen patted his shoulder, "As long as we're alive, anything can be said."
"By the way, do you know what Su Shan's family does?"
Liu Zhi furrowed his brows in recollection, then shook his head, "I'm not sure; whenever I went to his house in high school, I never saw anyone else, and Su Shan said that the work of his family members must be kept confidential."
Perhaps that's exactly why he vanished overnight, and afterward no trace could be found.
Liu Zhi glanced at Jin Chen again, his tone growing heavy.
"Jin Ge, I know."
"With your personality, you wouldn't just randomly bring people here to save them, nor would you specially go to the hospital to get medicine. Su Shan... does he have some other secret?"
Jin Chen: "... hiss."
No wonder he's the smartest guy in 618.
With his arm around Jiang Chen's shoulder slightly tightened, Jin Chen remained composed, showing no other emotion.
"I'll tell you about this after he wakes up."
Liu Zhi nodded, "Okay."
Jiang Chen: "Su Shan's condition is basically stable; his fainting is due to extreme weakness, and he might wake up tomorrow."
As Jiang Chen spoke, he again marveled at the strong antibodies in Su Shan's body; if an ordinary person suffered such severe injury, they wouldn't be able to fully recover without lying down for several months.
"Xiao Zhi, come eat grapes!" Chu Shu laughed, holding the fruit basket, "We just picked them from the grape rack over there!"
"Coming." Liu Zhi seemed to have regained his cheerfulness, and occasionally could tease the two intellectual basins.
But everyone could tell that he still had something on his mind.
Under the direction of the farmstead owner Ru Meng, the companions orderly finished all the piled-up work, seemingly briefly forgetting the pain of the apocalypse.
As the smartest guy, Liu Zhi was responsible for figuring out the generator's operation on his own, to bring electricity to the farm.
Chu Shu and Zhou Xuan, the ill-fated brother duo, were responsible for clearing the accumulated cattle and sheep dung over several days, retching one moment and laughing loudly the next, mocking each other's misery.
"Stinky!" Zhou Xuan, wearing gloves, made a motion of choking his own neck, "Do the intellectual basins deserve the most tiring work?"
Chu Shu: "Then go over to the fruit rack to watch the lovey-dovey show!"
Zhou Xuan: "... eh, the little sheep are still more fun."
He pulled a handful of wool, shook his head, feigning a sigh.
Jiang Chen and Jin Chen, the sweet couple, were responsible for watering and irrigating the various fruit racks and vegetable plots; the farm is beside a small stream, and there's also a pond behind the hill, so they won't run short of water in the short term.
"I'm saying!" Ru Meng stood with arms crossed at the wooden fence gate, "You two lovey-dovey, you won't finish the afternoon's work, so for dinner you'll get two fewer eggs!"
Jin Chen: "Wow, the farm head is still a slave master!"
He swung Jiang Chen's hand, "Chen Bro, I want to..."
Jiang Chen covered his mouth, "No kissing before work, get things done first."
Already able to perfectly predict it!
Jin Chen hummed a few times, picked up the wooden bucket and fetched water from the pipe, and the two began working.
The red gourd ladle brimmed with stream water, sparkling in the sunlight; after a few sways, it all poured into the soil, wetting the leafy greens, and crystal-clear water droplets fell one by one.
Looking up, the trellis was covered in grape vines, leaves naturally spreading, sunlight shining through the gaps in the vines, casting a dappled pattern on the ground.
Summer produce is abundant; after watering, irrigating, and loosening the soil, Jin Chen voluntarily took on the task of picking the vegetables needed for tonight.
Crisp cucumbers and bright red tomatoes, deep purple eggplants paired with hooked green chilies, plus some unidentifiable leafy greens.
After nearly two hours of labor, Jin Chen let out a hey, his white short-sleeve under the linen apron already soaked with sweat; he casually wiped the sweat from his nose tip and approached Jiang Chen.
"All the work is done, can we have a kiss now?"
Those clear eyes really make it hard to refuse.
Jiang Chen took a towel to wipe his sweat, lifted his head and lightly kissed his lips, saying, "You've worked hard."
"Not enough, not enough," Jin Chen complained, hugging Jiang Chen and swaying, "Let me teach you how to reward."
"Eh…"
His back suddenly pressed against a trellis; Jiang Chen still held the watering ladle, and before he could steady himself, he was already enveloped by a familiar scent.
He tilted his head, his breath completely taken, yet he remained yielding and accepting of the emotion.
The ladle fell into the wooden barrel, splashing crystal droplets; his dangling arm wrapped around Jin Chen's waist.
They kissed for an untold length of time.
Jiang Chen's consciousness was hazy; when he barely opened his eyes, dazzling sunlight greeted him, grape leaves swaying in the breeze, as if he were in a dream.
"Dear, have you learned it?"
He brushed the moisture from his lips with his fingertip; Jin Chen asked in a hoarse voice, Jiang Chen hummed in response, leaning into his embrace to steady his breath, the tip of his nose lightly rubbing against Jin Chen's neck.
Jin Chen gently patted the back of the person in his arms, his eyes full of smiles, "Then later, it'll be your turn to teach me."
Jiang Chen reacted after two seconds, pinching Jin Chen's waist, "You're pushing your luck."
No matter how you hear it, that sounds like whining.
Jin Chen turned and clasped his hand, his laughter bright and clear.
"This is what I call… being spoiled and arrogant."
A head poked out of the cabin window; Chu Shu leaned on the sill and shouted, "Brother Jin! Brother Jiang! Hurry inside!"
"The farm has electricity!"
"That's really good news."
The seven companions gathered in the cabin; Liu Zhi slowly pressed the switch, and the light bulb hanging from the ceiling immediately lit up.
"Long live!" Zhou Xuan raised his hand and cheered.
"I never thought electricity could make me this happy!" Chu Shu was practically excited to tears, fumbling to find a charger and plugging in his phone, which had become as useless as a brick.
Even without signal, even though we're still in the apocalypse, hope is like a lit lamp—it will always shine on everyone.
As long as they stay together, what is there to fear in the apocalypse?
Jin Chen's electric fan, snatched from the supermarket, began to work; the companions understood without words—if something was available, they used it, never asking where it came from.
Everyone gathered together, bustling as they prepared an afternoon tea.
The water-soaked watermelon was crisp and refreshing; one bite filled the mouth with sweetness; the candied tomatoes had a rich texture, a sweet‑sour treat unique to summer.
There was also Jin Chen's signature secret‑recipe shredded chicken; the companions all said they were riding on Jiang Chen's luck, digging in without hesitation, the meat spicy and refreshing.
Sitting on the steps outside the cabin, fluffy white clouds drifted by, and the farm echoed with long‑absent laughter and chatter.
Suddenly, Jin Chen set down the watermelon, his gaze sharp as he looked toward the eastern fence.
"Someone's there."
"Who is it?" Ru Meng asked.
The wind howled; Jin Chen couldn't make it out clearly, and only after a few seconds did he say, "Someone is running… calling for help."
"Could there be zombies?!" Zhou Xuan jumped, taking two bites of watermelon, then clapped his hands and stood up.
"A car crashed into a big tree—you two come with me to check it out; the rest go back inside, wait for news, and lock the doors and windows."
Jin Chen quickly issued orders, tucked his gun at the small of his back, and before leaving he embraced Jiang Chen, kissing his cheek.
"Don't worry, I'll be back soon."
Jiang Chen lifted his chin, "I believe you."
"Brother Jiang, hurry back!" Ru Meng shouted through the door crack.
