Chapter 1592: The Fake Young Master Will Be Pampered by the Real Young Master 22

~6 min read 1,147 words

Zhu Suisheng didn't know why Jin Chen was trying to appease him; after all, he had ruined what Jin Chen originally should have gotten.

But he still couldn't say no; Zhu Suisheng felt the warmth of their joined hands and silently agreed.

He liked being soothed by Jin Chen, so he didn't need to refuse.

After finishing his meal, Zhu Suisheng followed Jin Chen upstairs; his mind was still a bit muddled, suspecting he might have some mental illness, which was why he could never control his dark thoughts.

Although he had had it since childhood, he could usually control it, and it only appeared toward people he disliked or who made him unhappy.

But now, he clearly liked Jin Chen, didn't want to hurt him at all, yet found himself unable to control it.

Zhu Suisheng wandered in his thoughts, merely following Jin Chen's back upstairs, not even noticing when he had already entered the room and stopped.

"Ouch..." Zhu Suisheng bumped into Jin Chen's back, dazedly lifted his head to look at him, walking into Jin Chen's eyes as he turned, which held a faint smile, and said, "Why aren't you watching where you're going?"

"... Hmph."

Zhu Suisheng certainly wouldn't tell Jin Chen whether he was thinking about seeing a psychologist or doing it for him.

Jin Chen merely assumed he was still upset about what had just happened, so he didn't ask further, took his wrist, and led him through the living room into the bedroom.

"What are you up to, being so mysterious?" Zhu Suisheng's curiosity was piqued; he unconsciously glanced around. Jin Chen's room layout resembled his, but it was overly empty, and even with the heater on it felt not warm.

Jin Chen didn't answer right away, walked to the desk holding the sheet music and computer, and took out the prepared item.

"This is... a brooch?"

"It's a gift for you." Jin Chen said, handing over the opened box to Zhu Suisheng; his low voice, which had previously been as cold as winter's chill, was now replaced by a tenderness unique to Zhu Suisheng.

He lowered his gaze to look at Zhu Suisheng's slightly surprised eyes and continued, "I promised you a gift that belongs only to you."

Zhu Suisheng lowered his head to look at the brooch in the box—unique and sparkling—he fell silent, then looked at the person giving him the brooch, unusually quiet and obedient.

"Just for me?" Zhu Suisheng whispered, repeating the phrase.

He recalled the pledge made that day in the school cafeteria, with pinkies linked, and hadn't expected Jin Chen to fulfill the promise so quickly.

Zhu Suisheng had received many gifts before, whether sincere or not, all expensive, but he only felt happy when getting gifts from Dad and Mom; now Jin Chen was added to that list.

"This is right," Zhu Suisheng thought; he and Jin Chen shouldn't be opposed, for Jin Chen is clearly wonderful.

Those restless anxieties and dark thoughts were suppressed to the point that Zhu Suisheng could hardly notice them himself, soothed very well.

"Then help me put it on."

Zhu Suisheng looked up at him and spoke softly.

"All right." Jin Chen took out the brooch and fastened it at the center of Zhu Suisheng's soft sweater; the smooth, neat lines and the set diamonds were just right,

"Does it look good?" Zhu Suisheng asked, his heart feeling sweet and sour like honeyed plums, soft and yielding a sticky sweetness.

"Very nice."

Jin Chen raised his hand to touch the brooch, then draped his arm around Zhu Suisheng's shoulders and asked, "Are you still unhappy now?"

Zhu Suisheng shook his head, slightly relaxed his body as if leaning against his chest, "A little bit, but..."

He lifted his chin, resting it on Jin Chen's shoulder, their eyes met, and said, "Why aren't you upset? If I hadn't said that, the subsidiary would have been yours."

"What you said is correct; I really don't have any desire to practice managing the company right now." Jin Chen gently brushed his bangs, his tone soft, "I have no reason to be unhappy."

Zhu Suisheng stared into Jin Chen's eyes, as if probing whether he was telling the truth, but all he saw in those depths was boundless tolerance, with not a trace of pretense.

"Good boy," Jin Chen let him look, then followed the motion to lightly stroke his cheek, "I'm not deceiving you."

Zhu Suisheng hugged Jin Chen tighter, burying his face in his chest, and was soothed into great happiness.

But he had always been spoiled, wanting to push further step by step.

Zhu Suisheng rubbed against him in his embrace and added, "I also want to hear you play the violin."

Jin Chen naturally had no objection; Zhu Suisheng leaned against the headboard and, for the first time, watched Jin Chen perform a complete piece in full.

Zhu Suisheng had heard many pieces, but this score was unfamiliar; he knew Jin Chen had written it himself, and it was wonderful to hear, astonishingly good.

He ought to be surprised, after all, one could tell it was far beyond a student's level, even surpassing the teachers who had instructed them, yet Zhu Suisheng felt it was only natural.

Because the performer was Jin Chen, Zhu Suisheng felt there was nothing he couldn't do, even though he wasn't entirely sure why he held that conviction so firmly.

Jin Chen stood in the bedroom's warm-colored lighting, yet it seemed as if he were on a stage in a concert hall watched by thousands.

Zhu Suisheng slowly clung to the pillow, the corners of his lips curving into a soft arc; his gaze toward Jin Chen shone brighter and more radiant than the dazzling diamonds of the brooch.

Their eyes met, and remained so until the music ceased.

"It sounds wonderful." Zhu Suisheng laughed, warm and unreserved, with a touch of childishness.

He watched as Jin Chen set down the violin and slowly approached, then looked up and asked, "If I'm unhappy in the future, will you comfort me like this too?"

"Yes." Jin Chen said.

Zhu Suisheng lowered the pillow, stretched out his arms toward Jin Chen, and cooed softly.

"Then hug me."

Jin Chen leaned forward, enfolding Zhu Suisheng in his arms, and said, "All right, go back to sleep."

"Good night." Zhu Suisheng nodded; after being soothed, he was always obedient.

"Good night."

Zhu Suisheng left Jin Chen's room, stood in the hallway thinking for a while, then turned and headed toward Dad and Mom's room.

He couldn't let Jin Chen have nothing; he wanted to act while he was still happy, so even if Jin Chen didn't like managing the company, he should at least have another gift.

He would prepare it; Dad and Mom ought to give gifts as well.
