Chapter 1735: Mermaid Rearing Guide 07

~6 min read 1,141 words

Number Seventeen has entered the coma period for the third day, and no abnormalities have been detected yet.

The recorder wrote this sentence at the office door, glanced dubiously at Number Seventeen in the Breeding Chamber, actually really wanting to ask Doctor Lin how he managed to calm down this so violent and suddenly entered estrus period Number Seventeen.

He didn't even use the special sedative that might affect the genetic experiment.

He always felt that Doctor Lin these past few days was more terrifying than usual; after glancing a few times, he simply didn't dare to ask.

"Any more questions?" Lin Juan asked.

"No more." The recorder gave an embarrassed laugh and closed the logbook.

"By the way, Doctor Lin, on the second floor there's a newly arrived high-intelligence lion that's extremely uncooperative; it's already bitten two hunting team members, and the sedative has no effect. The You Team hopes you can go provide assistance."

In front of the desk, Lin Juan tightened his grip on the pen, a hint of unvented anger surfacing in his eyes, "Good."

Second floor.

"Prepare for the final taming capture; if it fails, directly hunt it down!"

The hunting team captain roared angrily, his whole body covered in bloodstains.

Hunting team members surrounded the jungle lion in the middle that had fallen into a frenzied state; each person's face showed a hint of fear, but more so anger.

Their mission is to hunt high-intelligence animals; they've succeeded so many times, even sharks they could capture successfully—how could they lose face over a single lion!

"Wan Qian! Don't provoke it further, or it'll die from shock! Step back!" You Zhuoran strode forward, but was stopped outside the warning line.

"You Team, you'd better not interfere with the Hunting Squad's affairs." The breeder and dispatcher waiting aside advised: "Yeah, You Team, they were transferred from headquarters, notorious for being reckless and hot-tempered; be careful they hold a grudge against you."

"Capture!" the hunting team captain ordered, indeed not taking You Zhuoran's words to heart.

"Roar—"

The lion roared in pain, not understanding why these humans wouldn't let it go; for self-preservation it could only repeatedly resist and attack.

The lion had already reached its limit.

The lion's forelegs were kneeling on the ground, fractured, the bones almost piercing the flesh; large patches of fur and bloodstains on its back mixed and dried, its heaving chest rising and falling with increasingly labored breaths.

The lion leapt up again, its beast eyes seeing only the door to leave this place.

A sharp burst of electric current sounded.

A thick electric prod pressed against its neck covered in mane.

"Roar!!" The lion, shocked into a frenzied roar, completely lost patience and the genetic prohibition against approaching humans; its sharp claws seized a hunting team member and lunged to bite.

"Damn it, hunt it down!" the captain spat angrily, "This beast is truly tenacious."

You Zhuoran pushed off the warning line post, flipped and jumped in, raising his gun aimed at the hunting team captain.

"Don't carry out the order!" he roared at the hunting team members, "Having been transferred to Number Ten Base, you must obey the rules here! I, as a senior administrator, command you to retreat!"

Wan Qian cursed, "I say, You Team, are you brainless? This is just a beast; its only use is for experiments. Do you really think the base is a zoo keeping them?"

You Zhuoran stepped over to the lion panting on the ground, his gloved hand slowly reaching out.

"Roar!" the lion warned him, but it could sense this human's goodwill; it merely refused to be petted, yet did not resist.

The lion patted You Zhuoran's shoulder with its paw, pointing toward the door.

"You see, it won't accept your goodwill." Wan Qian sneered, then suddenly spotted a white figure in a lab coat, his eyebrows twitching as a hint of pleasure appeared.

"Doctor Lin!"

The hunting team members hastily put away their guns, opened the warning line to let him in.

Lin Juan's voice was calm, "How are you here?"

"Headquarters currently doesn't need new high-intelligence animals in storage, the hunting team is idle anyway, so they were transferred here."

Wan Qian obviously respected Lin Juan, answering with a smile, then finally sobering up: "It's just that today this beast is really hard to handle."

You Zhuoran holstered his gun, his tone somewhat displeased: "Number Ten Base has its own hunting team; if a few of you aren't cooperative, my suggestion is to go back where you came from."

"If everyone were like you—catching nothing and just killing—probably the research on high-intelligence animals would fail before they even succeed, leading to their extinction."

Lin Juan caught the meaning in You Zhuoran's words, frowned, and glanced at Wan Qian with a veiled warning.

Wan Qian's expression shifted, but he said nothing.

Yet everyone saw Lin Juan walk toward the lion kneeling on the ground, panting hoarsely in pain.

Lin Juan seemed not to notice its newly wary gaze and the blood all over its body, approaching with a blank expression, his demeanor revealing indifferent nonchalance.

"What the You Team said is correct; dealing with uncooperative high-intelligence animals truly cannot involve lethal force."

Lin Juan's voice was clear and cold; slowly raising his hand, he seized the moment when the lion was off‑guard and grabbed for its throat, holding only a steel pen in his hand.

But when the pen tip slightly pierced the throat skin, the lion still went rigid, crawling on the ground, completely lowering its head.

Not only was its most vital weak point threatened, the lion also felt a heavy pressure and killing intent from this person, daring not to resist.

"We should find its weakness and make it submit."

Lin Juan said this in a low voice, as if speaking only to himself.

Afterwards Lin Juan turned back, his gentle eyes revealing a detached cold smile, "What do you think, You Team?"

You Zhuoran frowned tightly, feeling incredulous, "It… is it afraid of you?"

"Just a method; You Team misjudged." Lin Juan lowered his hand, grabbed the lion's neck‑fur restraint, and led it to the breeder who had been waiting a long time.

Wan Qian chuckled a few times, "It really has to be Doctor Lin—far better than those indecisive people."

You Zhuoran coldly stared at him, "Wan Qian, stop with the snide remarks here; since you're here, go report to the Central Control Room, and don't forget you're still under my command."

"……." Wan Qian finally remembered this, unwillingly leading his brothers away, yet not forgetting to ingratiate himself with Lin Juan: "Doctor Lin, I'll treat you to a meal another day."

Lin Juan gave no response, tossed the now‑dull steel pen aside, stood there for a moment, exhaled, and prepared to return to the office.
