Chapter 1740: Mermaid Taming Guide 12
Number Seventeen!
Xu Yi felt the mermaid was about to do something drastic, rushed over to stop it, and carefully pressed down on Jin Chen's claws, trying to reason.
An external check won't involve surgery or injections; it just lets you know your condition, which is good for you.
Xu Yi explained with his back to the examiners, secretly clasping his hands in prayer, trying to convey:
Please, I haven't recorded the situation here yet; even if you want to cause trouble, don't do it now.
But he and Jin Chen have zero rapport.
Jin Chen didn't understand at all what the protagonist was trying to convey with this routine, his gaze growing more bewildered.
But he did understand the pleading gesture, and, wanting to cooperate, he magnanimously decided to go along.
Hurry up.
Jin Chen glanced arrogantly at these humans, clearly impatient.
Xu Yi let out a long breath, sat back beside the testing equipment, and said, "We can begin."
Hey, wait a moment, Xiao Xu—I'm more familiar with this part of the test; let me handle the first section.
The examiner originally in charge of the final check approached, showing a bit more kindness than the others' usual cold professionalism.
Xu Yi knew this person, who had been transferred from the keepers to help; he had personally seen this keeper abuse and kill a high-intelligence canine animal.
Seeing this person's overly friendly smile that seemed a bit oily, Xu Yi's journalist instincts told him something was off.
"It's not okay, Brother Hong—my duty is to handle this section; the report would be hard to write otherwise." Xu Yi refused.
"What's the problem? Brother and the game team are familiar; I can get you out of writing two reports later."
Who would have thought Brother Hong had no intention of letting him refuse, plopping down on the other side of the equipment; the other examiners acted as if they saw nothing, and two even gave him a look as if to say, "Let's watch the show."
Jin Chen, lying on the testing bed, suddenly opened his eyes, his cold gaze fixed on Brother Hong sitting beside him, sharp as an icy blade.
At the same time, metal rings appeared on both sides of the bed, perfectly locking Jin Chen's wrists, completely immobilizing him.
"No wonder he's an unaltered original mermaid—he's strikingly handsome, far more beautiful than those altered high-intelligence rabbit- and deer-people."
Brother Hong gave a couple of sinister chuckles, his voice low: "Glaring at me won't help; it's just a routine check—if you make a fuss, you'll only suffer."
He warned him in a low voice, then reached out to touch him, only to discover that Number Seventeen wasn't afraid at all—in fact, he sat up.
"You..." Brother Hong's eyes widened in shock.
Jin Chen, right in front of him, forcibly broke the metal rings, his handsome face filled with cold killing intent.
"Trash, person." Jin Chen snapped, then shoved the straightened metal piece into Brother Hong's face.
Ah!!
The entire cold, quiet testing room was filled with Brother Hong's anguished screams.
Xu Yi, witnessing all this, had his mouth open wide enough to fit an egg.
What an impressive Mermaid Boss!
He, still shocked, typed furiously on the micro electronic panel hidden beneath the testing bed, trying to record everything before the Mermaid Boss destroyed the place.
"Someone! Number Seventeen is uncooperative and has gone berserk—grab it!" Brother Hong yanked the metal piece out, his face already bloody; pain and rage drove him mad, and he snatched up a cattle prod, shouting, "I'm going to teach you a lesson!"
Hearing this, the examiners sprang into action; the high-intelligence animals still being tested in the room looked confused and fearful, instinctively raising their arms to shield their heads.
"Don't run!" someone shouted, chasing after Jin Chen.
Jin Chen had just crushed the testing bed, then in an instant leapt onto the blood-analysis equipment; a flick of his tail left an irreparable hole, and all the high-tech smart instruments were as fragile as tofu under his tail's assault.
Jin Chen's movements were extremely precise; any equipment he touched ended up scrapped, even emitting wisps of black smoke.
For a moment, the entire testing room descended into chaos.
"Whoa, whoa, be careful!" Xu Yi pretended to help a bit, then, amid the chaos, copied the data from the main computer—this could be crucial for exposing the base's experiments.
"Get lost!" Jin Chen leapt onto the topmost main control computer, looked down on all the examiners, and slowly slipped his blue tail into a gap in the casing.
"We can't let him destroy the data!" the examiners exclaimed, but fearing to anger him, they stalled—"No way! Number Seventeen!"
"Hmph, foolish."
Jin Chen snorted, shoved the camera he'd just broken into the unconscious Brother Hong's mouth, then easily lifted and dropped him.
Plop!
In the examiners' shocked gaze, Brother Hong's back slammed onto the pointed wreckage of the discarded equipment on the floor; a blood‑stained blade pierced his heart and protruded, blood dripping drop by drop.
Damn...
This intense?!!
Xu Yi pressed his lips tightly, wondering how today would end.
He didn't know whether Doctor Lin could keep the angry Mermaid Boss under control.
Jin Chen seemed to sense this, giving Xu Yi a condescending look whose meaning was clear.
Blend in; don't let them notice anything off.
Xu Yi, for the first time, felt his comprehension was pretty good; he quietly approached and slipped something to Jin Chen, frantically gesturing that it would be useful later.
Seeing Jin Chen slim down, Xu Yi finally felt at ease following him to push the door, then "accidentally" fell to the floor and feigned unconsciousness.
Who would have thought the silence was broken not by the examiners...
The Number Six high‑intelligence octopus also undergoing testing in the room, perhaps smelling the blood, suddenly went into shock and shrank to normal size, instantly filling half the room with its helpless, angry tentacles flailing.
The examiners' attention shifted; realizing they couldn't salvage today's loss, they all ran out to seek help from the hunting team.
"Whoa!" Jin Chen dodged the swinging tentacle and instantly hatched a plan.
The octopus suddenly heard an ancient, mysterious chant.
It seemed to come from the deep sea, making it involuntarily want to submit.
In that chant, the octopus received a command.
"Destroy this place and escape."
It bewilderedly retracted its tentacles, gazing at Jin Chen, their eyes meeting in deep blue noble pupils.
The tentacle carefully pointed to its own heart; the octopus wept, and there too was an electronic ring symbolizing imprisonment and experimental status.
Jin Chen's pupils grew ever deeper; his sharp claws, appearing out of thin air, traced a flash.
Get lost!
The electronic ring suddenly fell.
Without any hesitation, the octopus shoved its massive body toward the door, its tentacles flailing wildly as it cried out for freedom.
In his chant, Jin Chen had already shown it a way to leave, on the condition that it must wait silently in the sea for his next summons.
The testing room's entrance, along with the entire wall, was destroyed.
When the hunting team that sensed something amiss rushed in, they confronted a giant, high-intelligence octopus freed from the electronic ring's shackles, and the key surveillance target suspected of destroying all equipment—who at that moment stood high atop the control chassis, a mermaid.
In the flickering faulty light, the mermaid's gorgeous visage gained a hint of bloody eeriness, as if a demonic charm born from feeding on human blood in the abyss's depths.
Exquisitely beautiful, exquisitely dangerous.
All the testers fainted, and the corpse on the ground was even more shocking.
