Chapter 1777: Oriental Exchange Student at the Magic Academy 08

~6 min read 1,134 words

Laisuo sprang up alertly, reacting extremely fast to dodge the magic light ball, then slightly pushed open the wooden window to look outside.

In the dim moonlight, an extremely swift figure flashed through the forest, as if pursuing something.

What astonished Laisuo immensely was that this sneaky figure actually possessed the aura of a light mage!

Laisuo almost instantly thought of the thief hidden in the academy.

He had no time to think further, hastily grabbing his black cloak and magic broom and rushing out, tightly clutching the concealment talisman given by Jin Chen in his palm.

The white cloak stopped in a deeper part of the rear forest.

The path here is more dangerous than the area around Laisuo's little cottage; a moment's carelessness could step onto territory claimed by a magical beast with an extremely strong sense of domain, let alone the various poisonous mushrooms and plants growing by the roadside.

Laisuo followed the white cloak suspiciously, until he saw it stop before an elaborately beautiful cave.

The forest little witch's dwelling!

Laisuo seemed to understand something, his face turning slightly paler; to confirm his suspicion, he unconsciously moved closer.

The unfortunate forest little witch had been targeted; before the light magic cast by the white cloak, the dark arts she wielded had almost no offensive power.

The little witch angrily cursed, hurling all the poisonous little magical creatures at the white cloak; just then a strong wind swept through the forest, abruptly silencing her curses.

"Oh my dark god……" the little witch froze.

Beneath the white cloak there was nothing at all!

It was neither an invisibility spell nor a supernatural entity; only an empty cloak and a mysterious glow at the chest.

Laisuo's eyes flashed—it was him!

Laisuo was utterly certain that this strange white-cloaked figure was the thief who had stolen Laisen's light magic!

Aliya straightened her cloak and sneered, "Poor little witch, soon you will become part of me."

He chanted softly, countless withered leaves melting and drifting, a bright ring of light appearing behind him.

Nameless Magic: Devouring Vortex!

"Ahhhhh, devil's shortbread! Black Mist Kid, come save me! I'll give you the most poisonous breadcrumbs and magical beasts!"

The little witch felt that strange light ring continuously draining her magical power, frightening her into jumping about wildly.

Laisuo: "……"

He disliked being called "Black Mist Kid"!

Laisuo charged forward, his crimson eyes bloodthirsty, the stillness between his brows and eyes turning entirely into killing intent; as he chanted, an invisible ice blade shimmering with toxic light flickered in the air, assaulting the white cloak like a storm.

Dark Magic: Death Poison Blade!

Aliya's face turned awful, somewhat frightened as she dodged the attack; she couldn't even tell when Laisuo had approached!

This truly is a dangerous sign.

The white cloak fluttered in the gale, the mana‑devouring halo suddenly slamming toward Laisuo, the poison blade instantly melted and consumed.

Laisuo's eyes turned icy, flames of dark‑purple mystic light igniting instantly, his black cloak burning to ashes.

Laisuo, engulfed in flames, charged again at the eerie white cloak.

"Black Mist Kid! Be careful—this monster devours magic!"

The little witch shouted, turned and ran, her short legs moving extremely fast.

Running, she bumped into someone.

Jin Chen lifted the little witch, who hadn't yet reached his waist, and asked level‑eyed, "Who are you?"

"Eh, damn it!"

The little witch struggled a few times, "Who are you again! You rude jerk, let me go!"

"Have you seen Lai…… a person wearing a black cloak?" Jin Chen asked.

This forest is really huge, Jin Chen lost the person as soon as he entered.

"Black Mist Kid?"

The little witch stopped struggling, very familiarly patting Jin Chen's shoulder and pointing deep into the vines, "He's fighting some strange ghost‑thing—hurry and help him!"

Jin Chen's eyes shifted slightly, he tossed the little witch aside, and his form instantly vanished from the spot.

The little witch crashed into the plush grass, barely managing to get up, and screamed angrily, "I hate you tall people!!"

At this moment, both Aliya and Laisuo were somewhat strained.

Although Aliya was formless and substanceless, she was uniquely immune to neither light nor dark magic; Laisuo's attacks, though devoured, still inflicted damage.

Unfortunately, tonight his magic power was impaired, so he could no longer use light magic; he had planned to devour this witch to replenish himself, never expecting Laisuo to come and interfere!

Since that's the case, perhaps…

The white cloak suddenly flew up into mid‑air, drawing the dark magic's attack onto the ancient tree.

All the ancient trees in the rear forest can transmit information; as long as Laisuo's identity as a dark mage is exposed, he will have no further trouble.

But just then, the blood blade about to thrust into the ancient tree was dissolved by sword light.

Both Laisuo and Aliya were startled, simultaneously turning their gazes toward the direction from which it came.

Jin Chen raised two fingers, lightly retrieving his peach‑wood sword, neutralizing the blood blade's damage.

"Good evening, Laisuo." Jin Chen waved, his flawlessly handsome face bearing a pleased smile.

Having shed his black cloak, Laisuo finally let Jin Chen see his full appearance—his dark hair, tinged between black and red, soft and smooth, appearing obedient and harmless when stroked, yet his killing intent remained.

Pretty but frail, somewhat malnourished.

He needs to be well fed.

Jin Chen still had the leisure to let his mind wander.

Laisuo: "……"

How could Jin Chen be here!

He stood stiffly in place, unsure how to react.

Don't space out, first chase this person away then talk.

Jin Chen's sword in his hand flew out again, the icy sword light easily sliced through the aura of devouring magic.

Aliya instinctively moved to block, chanting devouring magic.

Jin Chen's incantation, however, was much simpler.

"As swift as the law! Go!"

The peach wood sword instantly became icy and sharp, the white cloak instead was slit open, letting out chaotic magical aura.

How could it possibly not work on him!

After panicking, Aliya realized this person had no magical power at all—devouring magic isn't useless, is it?

Damn Jin Chen! Meddling fool! I'll definitely find a chance to eat him!

The white cloak seemed merely a shield for an intangible body, but now the weak and powerless Aliya would also suffer the same pain.

Jin Chen, fully aware of this, satisfiedly sliced that cloak into rags.

Die from pain, you wretched thing!

Aliya cursed inwardly, the distorted faint light trying to flee, but after being sliced many times by the peach wood sword she fled in a sorry state.

By the ancient tree, silence fell instantly.

Jin Chen put the peach wood sword into the cloth bag, then turned sideways to look at the still stiff Laisuo.
