Chapter 1781: The Eastern Exchange Student at the Magic Academy 12

~7 min read 1,229 words

Welcome, mysterious mage and youth from the Huaxia Continent.

The short goblin boss wore a suit, stood on a tall stool, and treated all customers equally—this is probably the boldness of a businessman.

"Please feel free to pick what you need." The goblin boss naturally snapped his fingers, and soon a dedicated dwarf elf jumped out of the sack and bounced over to serve them.

The goblin's shop is huge, with twelve floors of height and space, basically covering everything needed for academy life.

Having been at this academy for half a semester, this was Laisuo's first time entering; most of the time he still preferred to travel many blocks to a farther store to buy things, so he wouldn't be stared at strangely for long.

But this time was different; Laisuo followed behind Jin Chen to pick what they needed—materials and distillation bottles for making potions for classmates—and he hardly felt any hostile gazes.

Of course, this is largely thanks to Jin Chen suddenly holding a sword in his hand.

"Hey! Impolite Laisuo mage!"

Suddenly a voice came from behind them, rude and blunt.

"Here comes the next unlucky guy."

Jin Chen smirked inappropriately, protecting Laisuo as he looked back; the boy in the Senior Division uniform had a full presence, his spiky short hair showing his likewise hasty personality.

"I heard you're great at making potions, but you just won't make one for Aliya! What are you thinking with? You rude guy!" the spiky-haired senior scolded.

Laisuo wrinkled his nose, not understanding why this matter was linked to rudeness.

He simply refused to make the potion; it's not like he agreed and then secretly added rat corpses to it.

... That actually sounds not bad; I'll try it next time.

But as more people were drawn to the spiky-haired senior, Laisuo felt uncomfortable, pulling his hood and hiding behind Jin Chen.

"It's fine." Jin Chen took his hand, the warmth of their clasped hands seeming to convey strength.

Laisuo couldn't help but move closer, doing so to drive away those uncomfortable gazes.

"Who are you again?" the spiky-haired senior asked, holding back anger, "What's your relation to this suspected dark mage's rude guy?"

"No, that's not important."

Jin Chen's tone suddenly became low and mysterious: "Senior, how are your divination class grades?"

"What?"

The spiky-haired senior scratched his head in confusion, "What does that have to do with you?"

"I come from the distant and mysterious East Huaxia, possessing foresight's divination art, more precise than divination, able to see through your past and future."

Jin Chen's fingertips casually pinched the air twice, his voice lax yet inexplicably convincing.

Laisuo's gaze gradually brightened; turns out his good friend is that amazing!

The spiky-haired senior was completely bewildered.

"I just came to pick a fight, yet you say you want to see through my past and future?"

You Huaxia people are all this direct?!

"If you don't believe me, Senior, you can ask the diviners present to compare." Jin Chen added.

Now the onlookers in the shop grew restless, and soon a curly-haired senior sister in a brown-toned Senior Division uniform walked over, holding a crystal ball and a sprig of tarot lemongrass.

"Can I compete with you?"

"Of course." Jin Chen smiled and agreed.

Spiky-haired senior: "……"

"Nobody asks for my opinion?"

Laisuo tugged at Jin Chen's sleeve: "Come on, I believe in you."

Thus a meaningless showdown began like this.

The goblin boss adjusted his little tie, stood among the people, and blew a whistle.

"Start!"

The curly-haired senior sister waved the lemongrass in front of the spiky-haired senior, chanted a short spell, and had him place his hand over the floating crystal ball.

"Please imagine your feet stepping on the softest, most comfortable clouds, with endless energy flowing into your body……"

Jin Chen tapped the senior's head three times with his peach wood sword, bang bang bang.

His long fingers pinched, pointing at the empty air.

"Your name is Duobite, born in September of the 450th year of magical history; your father is the deputy leader of the Holy Temple Knight Squad, strict in discipline but raised a rebellious youth."

Jin Chen slightly opened his eyes, gave a light cough: "At thirteen you stole a kiss with a little elf; at fourteen you stole the Knight Squad's medal to deceive a naive boy; at fifteen you did inappropriate things with your father's new boyfriend; at sixteen……"

The onlookers' gazes gradually shifted, fixing on the senior.

"Stop!!"

The spiky-haired senior was about to explode: "Enough! Shut up!"

The senior sister who just finished chanting twitched her mouth corner, silently withdrew her fingertips resting on his wrist, and wiped them.

"I lost." The senior sister looked at Jin Chen with interest: "Welcome to join our Divination Club."

Jin Chen nodded, then lowered his voice to the spiky-haired senior: "What matters is, I've calculated that you will certainly face a calamity today; if you can't avoid it, you will die."

Laisuo's eyes widened instantly.

"Wow, amazing! This counts too!"

The spiky-haired senior's legs went weak all at once.

All the preceding buildup made him now firmly believe Jin Chen's words.

"No… I can't die… you… no, Esteemed Huaxia Mage, please save me!"

Jin Chen, unfathomably deep: "Actually it's not impossible to solve, but……"

He drew out his tone; the clever senior immediately understood: "I get it! Money! I can offer many gold coins!"

"Vulgar; we don't talk money, we talk fate."

Jin Chen put his arm around Laisuo, smiling: "Please order expensive potions from our great Laisuo."

Senior: "Three hundred gold coins! Any magic potion will do!"

Jin Chen nodded satisfactorily.

Laisuo hesitated half a moment; even as it seemed calm and breezy, he was secretly stunned, silently reckoning in his heart what three hundred gold coins could buy.

"Put this in your pocket." Jin Chen casually pulled two tracking charms from a cloth bag, "If you encounter danger, just grab the charm and shout my name."

"Then you'll instantly appear by my side, no matter the distance?" the senior guessed delightedly.

Jin Chen: "You're dreaming."

Senior: "……"

"I'll sense it and rush over as fast as I can, but seeing that you have fate on your side, we won't be too far apart."

Jin Chen said meaningfully: "This afternoon, go do what you're supposed to do; don't deliberately disrupt your rhythm."

Only by meeting Aliya according to the plot line will it be effective.

The explosive-haired senior was moved to tears.

Jin Chen put his arm around the still dazed Laisuo and left the goblin shop.

"Welcome back, honored guests." The goblin shopkeeper reappeared at the door, removed his hat, and bowed.

Seeing Laisuo acting oddly, Jin Chen paused, lowered his gaze, and said, "Don't worry, I won't use my divination ability on you."

Laisuo certainly wasn't bothered by that.

He looked at Jin Chen, hesitated a moment, and said, "Why do I get the gold coins for helping him tell fortunes? That's three hundred gold coins."

Even if split evenly with Jin Chen, he'd still get a hundred and fifty, enough to last him a long time and buy many delicacies he'd otherwise hesitate to enjoy.

"It's because you accompanied me here that we got this opportunity."

Jin Chen patted his head; just the right gentle tone made Laisuo's heart beat even faster.

"You are my lucky muse."
