Chapter 1786: Oriental Exchange Student at the Magic Academy 17
I haven't barked like a dog, I'm not impolite; I'm just asking Laisuo to apologize to Aliya.
Delian remained furious; he couldn't understand why Jin Chen, not brainwashed, would willingly serve as a dark mage's attendant.
Tsk.
Jin Chen covered Laisuo's ears, saying, "Don't listen; that remark is worse than a dog's bark."
Delian: "……"
"Pfft..." someone in the classroom couldn't help laughing, purely amused by the remark, and the next second Delian frightened them into hastily covering their mouth, daring not to speak further.
Aliya stared intently at the scene; seeing Jin Chen and Laisuo's affectionate interaction, she suddenly understood something.
He stood up and walked forward, stopping Delian's intention to come over and protect him, then proactively approached Laisuo as a friendly gesture.
"Classmate Laisuo, perhaps there is a misunderstanding between us."
Aliya's tone was light, as if she were singing a pleasant ballad; the affinity of a light mage was irresistible to anyone.
So although he was speaking to Laisuo, his gaze occasionally fell on Jin Chen, the corner of his lips bearing a just‑right arc.
"You misunderstand me as a monster, but I was merely captured and controlled by a monster…… Can you understand, just as the Dean said, that as a dark mage you can still study at the academy, light and darkness need not be mutually opposed……"
He leaned forward slightly, earnestly telling Laisuo, "Please let us reconcile, okay?"
Laisuo slowly lifted his eyes, his red pupils flashing killing intent as they met Aliya's gaze, and said word by word, "What do you think?"
"Of course I hope we can reconcile and continue as classmates." Aliya slowly curled her lips, her smile sarcastic, yet her eyes full of kindness and purity, appearing extremely torn.
Laisuo silently recited the pledge twice in his mind: before any substantive evidence, he must not harm any classmate.
He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and dispelled the black mist all over his body, "Get lost."
Aliya lowered her eyes, wounded and helpless, looking toward Jin Chen: "Jin Chen classmate, can you help me……"
Before she finished speaking, Aliya almost got hit by a stack of talisman papers Jin Chen pulled out of a cloth bag, and she hastily stepped back two paces.
"What is this?" Aliya couldn't help but feel wary.
Jin Chen's eyes, faintly interested, lingered on Aliya, his long fingers holding a talisman paper.
"Do you dare swear on it that you haven't stolen anyone's magic power, nor killed anyone?"
Aliya: "I……"
"Lying will be burned by fire, the kind your magic cannot extinguish." Jin Chen continued.
Aliya: "……"
All his words were stuck in his throat, neither up nor down, almost making him suffer to death.
If Jin Chen had produced a magic truth‑telling scroll, he could have said anything at will, then simply swallowed the scroll's magic power.
But instead, this is a weird, inexplicably smelly piece of paper!
Everyone in the classroom watched this scene; seeing Aliya's silence lengthen, they couldn't help exchanging puzzled glances with their friends.
Aliya is a great light mage; how could he fear uttering such words, and why would he stay silent?
Delian grabbed Aliya's hand, "Aliya, don't be afraid—just say it for them to hear!"
Aliya's eye twitched.
He suddenly clutched his chest, taking several gasps, and fainted again before everyone.
Jin Chen snorted, then sincerely told Delian, "How about opening a membership in the Magic Repair Room, so this fragile light mage won't keep rushing in to grab a spot."
Aliya escaped disaster, but the seed of doubt was planted in the hearts of everyone who witnessed it.
The annoying person left, and Laisuo felt the classroom air fresher; curiously he picked up a talisman and patted it to examine.
"I won."
Taking advantage of Laisuo's inattention, Jin Chen made five in a row, then, in a good mood, pinched Laisuo's face that had gained some color, saying, "Tonight's meal, listen to me."
That was basically giving Laisuo a taste of various snacks, originally intending to shift his fondness for deadly magical beasts, yet unexpectedly it made him addicted to snacks and unwilling to eat rice.
Laisuo's eyes widened somewhat; after staring for a while he found no trace of Jin Chen's cheating, he pouted dissatisfiedly and made a final struggle.
"I'll just pick one dish."
He leaned up to Jin Chen, inexpertly rubbing his cheek against Jin Chen's, drawing out his tone in a soft voice.
"Please."
Jin Chen lowered his eyes to stare at him.
Being coy and aware of it, and noticing that Jin Chen really fell for this, Laisuo blinked his eyes.
Jin Chen relented, albeit unhappily, saying, "The bottom line is that the table must not have yogurt mixed with rice or La Tiao soaked in wine."
Laisuo's strange taste really shows in every aspect.
After thinking for a few seconds, Laisuo nodded, "Okay."
Jin Chen's mouth curled into a smile, his brows relaxed, he rubbed Laisuo's cheek, "Truly obedient."
The praised Laisuo laughed happily.
Thinking about it, tonight he would eat potato chips soaked in mushroom soup; he had secretly tried it in the kitchen the past two days, and it was delicious.
In the next two classes, Laisuo occasionally thought of the delicious food he could eat tonight, feeling very happy.
