Chapter 1805
That day, Jin Chen was summoned alone to the Dean's office.
Ms. Ailinna had two agreements laid out before her.
"You can probably guess the reason," she said.
Jin Chen nodded, "At the end of the term, exchange students return."
"Yes, but considering you already have someone dear to you here, and our institute truly needs you to continue training, I have prepared an additional agreement."
Ms. Ailinna was very sincere.
Jin Chen: ……
I always feel your focus isn't on the first half.
Jin Chen, who had already prepared to stay, suddenly had the sneaky idea of luring his wife back to the Huaxia Continent.
The two agreements on the table were, respectively, the graduation register that exchange students must sign before leaving the institute, and a permanent residence certificate.
"However, I need to remind you additionally that Laisuo, as a dark mage, lacks the credentials to traverse the spatial gate, making him equivalent to an illegal resident," Ms. Ailinna said with a smile.
Jin Chen thought for a moment, then signed one of them.
"I have three requests."
He spoke confidently.
"Go ahead."
"Arrange separate advanced dark-magic training for Laisuo, obtain an identity certificate recognized by the magical community, and limit my teaching schedule to no more than two sessions per week."
Ms. Ailinna: ……hiss
With her ability, the first two requests pose no problem, but the last one is genuinely difficult.
After the battle at the Holy Hall, Jin Chen's fame spread far and wide; not only did the students within the institute take notice, but the institutes of five of his old friends also wanted to hire him.
If he were to be neglected……
Then those old-timers would surely poach him!
Good!
Ms. Ailinna agreed readily.
Jin Chen raised his eyebrows, thinking that if he had known she'd agree so readily, he would have asked for just one class per week.
"In three days, please return this scroll to me." Ms. Ailinna hurriedly saw him out, fearing further unreasonable demands.
Meanwhile, Laisuo was chatting with his new friend, the curly-haired kid Kukuli.
"I still think the Dean summoned Jin Chen just to talk about the institute's holiday performance; you're overthinking it."
Kukuli had no desire to delve further into the direction Laisuo was speculating about.
Now Jin Chen is their S-class hero, even a department-level hero among three! How could he be returning to the Huaxia Continent so soon?
Laisuo propped his chin on one hand, his eyes complex: "But Jin Chen himself said earlier that at the end of the term, exchange students must return to their original institutes."
Kukuli burst out, unable to bear it any longer: "What are we to do? What are you to do, Laisuo! Jin Chen is your boyfriend—can you bear to part with him?"
Laisuo looked at him in surprise: "I can't bear to."
"But I originally planned to leave together with Jin Chen."
"Huh?!"
Kukuli slammed the table in shock.
They were about to lose two heroes at once—what nonsense!
"Why, don't you want Jin Chen to stay for you?"
Laisuo lowered his gaze, shook his head, and said, "Here, I already have nothing left."
"But Jin Chen might still have family and friends back where he came from—how could I ask him to stay?"
Kukuli was so anxious he pulled at his hair, yet he felt Laisuo's words were utterly correct.
"Exactly, that's it."
Laisuo, dead serious, convinced by his own speculation, said, "I also need to get ready."
"First of all, it's to say goodbye to the few friends we have."
In the rear forest.
Upon learning they were leaving, the little witch jumped up and down anxiously, stomping her feet repeatedly on the ground.
"No, no! I won't allow it!"
The little witch climbed onto the table, looking levelly at Laisuo, "How nice it is here, why leave? Could it be that the poisonous snakes of the Huaxia Continent taste better?"
Laisuo held the gift he had prepared for the little witch, responding seriously, "I don't know whether the poisonous snakes there taste good or not."
"But Jin Chen's home is there, I will adapt."
——
"I swear! The tall guy definitely slipped you some love potion!"
The little witch wouldn't listen to any of that, angrily chewing on dried mouse, pap pap pap.
"What if the Huaxia Continent not only lacks tasty poisonous snakes, but also has no magical beasts for snacks! You won't gain any strength there—what will we do then?"
"My good sister fell for a love potion! She loved the neighboring country's duke to death, and in the end she even lost her witch's powers! How terrifying!"
Laisuo frowned in disagreement, "Jin Chen is not like them."
The little witch gritted her teeth: "Yes! I admit the tall guy is good to you, but..."
At that moment the wooden door was pushed open, the little witch was so frightened she hiccuped, swallowing her words back.
Jin Chen's gaze flickered between them for an instant, "Did I interrupt your conversation?"
The little witch jumped down from the table, patted her butt and left; as she passed Laisuo she stopped, looked up at him, hands on hips, and said, "Anyway! I won't accept your gift—see you next time!"
Jin Chen raised his brows in puzzlement, "What gift?"
Laisuo held the pile of poisonous snake glass jars, "This one."
"Huh."
"It's truly precious."
Jin Chen carefully picked up the glass jar and sealed it, not wanting to see his wife's snacks crawling all over the house.
"The goblin shop has new holiday outfits from the Academy; want to go check them out?"
Laisuo nodded, opened his arms toward him, "I want a hug."
"Hug hug hug, what's going on?"
Jin Chen hurriedly pulled him into his embrace, kissed his forehead, "What's wrong?"
"'No.' Laisuo whispered, his eyes curving as he looked at him, a blush rising on his cheeks; kissing Jin Chen's lips only made them wet and glistening."
"'You need to like me a little more.' Laisuo's voice was soft."
Jin Chen pressed him and kissed him back, using actions to prove just how much he liked him.
——
On the eve of the Academy Holiday.
Students usually pack their bags for leaving school tonight, then return home after the holiday ends.
For Laisuo, there's more to pack than just luggage,
Jin Chen thought Laisuo was packing to go home, after all he'd said before about bringing Lai En's corpse back.
Seeing his wife busy to the point of not touching the ground, Jin Chen couldn't sit still and followed behind to help pack.
Those magic potion bottles that might not be used for days—take them!
The wand that hasn't moved since Jin Chen moved into this dorm—take it!
Such a big crucible… take it too?
You're not coming back?
"'……Dear.'"
Jin Chen, complex and doubtful, took the large crucible from Laisuo's hands and set it down, "You're bringing this too?"
Laisuo frowned, hugging the crucible to his chest, his little face very serious.
"'Of course, I need to bring it to brew medicine…'"
Jin Chen tried to understand.
But judging by the situation, Laisuo clearly intends not to come back after the semester ends.
That's really bad news.
He supported Laisuo's shoulders, puzzled, and asked lowly, "You're not coming back?"
Laisuo immediately lifted his face, surprised and dejected, clutching Jin Chen's hem tightly, "What do you mean, you're not taking me with you?"
Jin Chen: "Ah?"
Jin Chen felt things were getting a bit chaotic, set down the crucible, hugged Laisuo and sat down, "Are we talking about the same thing?"
Laisuo lifted his gaze, rose and straddled into Jin Chen's lap, his little face tense and unusually stern, "You're not allowed to abandon me."
"'How unfair, when did I ever say I'd abandon you.' Jin Chen pinched his soft, white cheek, 'What are you thinking, where do you think I'm going?'"
Laisuo: "You want to return to the Chinese Continent, don't abandon me, I'll go back with you."
Laisuo spoke quickly, as if to relieve Jin Chen of any worries, got up again, ran into the bedroom to fetch the withdrawal application, then ran back and flung himself into Jin Chen's arms to show him.
Jin Chen startled upright, "No, wait, baby."
"I didn't say I want to go back."
Laisuo stared, "What did you say?"
