Chapter 1811: After Raising the Good Baby, I Faked My Death 05

~7 min read 1,218 words

Who exactly could be seen on the lawn that morning, Wen Si Luo only guessed in his heart and didn't tell Jin Chen.

Jin Chen didn't intend to ask more; he simply gave Wen Si Luo a stern lecture about how it's dangerous for a child to wander off alone without listening.

Whether the dazed Wen Si Luo actually took it in is another matter.

On the fourth day of hospitalization, after several rounds of nutrient IVs, Wen Si Luo's spirits improved considerably, his sickly feeling faded somewhat, but the doctor in charge of the ward also noticed an interesting phenomenon.

This child is as obedient as a steamed rice cake when beside his brother, but the moment his brother leaves, he instantly turns icy—an attitude that even adults find shameful.

In the ward, Jin Chen was feeding Wen Si Luo; the pre‑meal fruit wasn't skipped, and the menu was still an analysis produced by Ling Gun Gun after she'd absorbed all the child‑rearing knowledge from the internet.

One person, one approach—raising the child with utmost meticulousness.

Wen Si Luo isn't picky at all, eagerly accepting any hot food, so well‑behaved it tugs at the heartstrings—even the doctor said the child is a little too well‑behaved.

On this floor alone there are several little hellions who cry all day, but compared to them Wen Si Luo is practically an angel.

Hearing others praise his own child, Jin Chen naturally smiled with delight.

The nurse was assigning Wen Si Luo his medicine for the day; seeing that handsome smile made her blush, and while taking Wen Si Luo's temperature she stole a few glances at Jin Chen.

Wen Si Luo suddenly looked at the nurse, only after a few seconds did he look away, secretly furrowing his brows, feeling uneasy.

He didn't like this person staring at his brother over and over, as if she wanted to take him away.

"Guabao, brother's going to fetch something."

Jin Chen took a call, ruffled Wen Si Luo's hair as he stood, and said gently, "I'll be back soon; finish the rest of the soup yourself."

Wen Si Luo nodded, holding the bowl with both hands and sipping the soup slowly.

Just after Jin Chen left, Wen Si Luo heard the nurse ask kindly, "Little Luo, does your brother have a girlfriend now?"

Worried he might not understand the term "girlfriend," the nurse added thoughtfully, "It means someone your brother likes a lot."

Wen Si Luo, not knowing what he'd thought of, coldly lifted his eyes to stare at her and said, "Brother said he likes me."

The nurse was amused by his blunt childish remark, reached out to ruffle his hair, but he dodged; she wasn't annoyed.

"These are two different kinds of liking; a girlfriend is someone who will stay with your brother for a long time."

"But little ones really aren't ready to hear this now, so just pretend I never said anything, sis."

The speaker meant nothing by it, but the listener took it to heart.

Wen Si Luo lowered his eyes, put the empty bowl aside, curled up under the blanket, and fell into his own thoughts.

He thought of that person and Mother.

Adults call this love and marriage, and many relatives had urged Mother to accept it, but it's not good at all—they'd only hurt each other.

So Brother doesn't need a girlfriend.

At the corner of the hospital ward's main gate.

The lookouts saw Jin Chen come out, immediately opened the car door and got out; four burly men in sunglasses surrounded him.

"Candle Grandpa wants to see you; for your safety, get in the car."

Jin Chen, one hand in his pocket, paused and glanced at the four men without a trace of nervousness.

"The person's gone; in broad daylight I don't want to run into a pervert."

"But you can pass something along to him instead."

Jin Chen tossed the two rolled‑up papers from his pocket over,

The lead sunglasses‑wearing man was startled, instinctively caught the papers, after a few glances his face changed dramatically and he hurriedly glared at Jin Chen.

"Just what is your identity?!"

How could an ordinary person possibly dig up Candle Grandpa's businesses?!

Jin Chen said solemnly, "An enthusiastic citizen who punishes perverts."

The sunglasses man: "……"

"Damn it! Drag him back and hand him over to Candle Grandpa—this brat can't stay alive!"

Jin Chen remained calm and stepped back half a pace.

【They were the ones who struck first.】

This certainly doesn't count as failing to set a good example for the child!

【Right! Host, beat them back!】 Ling Gun Gun bounced excitedly.

Accompanied by a final miserable scream, they were shoved back in pain; the four sunglasses men exchanged looks, bruised and purple, then scrambled back into the car and fled.

Jin Chen headed back efficiently, and on the way stopped at the supermarket to restock the milk candies in his pocket.

【Oh no, Host, Little Luo's been bullied by a troublesome kid and his parent!】

——

Not long after Jin Chen had left the ward, the nurse finished taking his temperature and went on to other tasks, inadvertently forgetting to close the door tightly, leaving a gap.

A few minutes later, the quietly reading Wen Si Luo heard the howling in the hallway, remained fairly calm, and turned another page.

The neighbors next door are very noisy; he had felt that acutely since the day he moved in.

He just didn't expect that when the noise suddenly stopped, the boy with a bandaged head would curiously wander in.

"Wow!"

The boy in a big‑nose dog costume, holding two small balloons, shouted loudly, his eyes glued to the table full of fruit and snacks, and exclaimed excitedly, "You have so many snacks! I want some too!"

Wen Si Luo frowned, displeased, his young voice still cold: "Get out, you're rude."

The things his brother prepared for him, he certainly wasn't going to share with anyone else.

"No way! You have to give me something to eat!"

The boy ran to the bedside, aggressive and spoiled, threw one of his small balloons at Wen Si Luo and said, "Either we swap, or I'll tell on you for hitting me!"

Having said that, he immediately reached for the milk candies on the bedside; Wen Si Luo gave him a cold look and slapped his hand away.

In an instant Wen Si Luo's gaze turned eerily dark; he coldly snatched the boy's balloon and crushed it right in front of him.

Bang!

The boy was startled and froze for several seconds; the sound of the balloon exploding still lingered in his mind, his lips trembled, he opened his mouth to cry, but Wen Si Luo's expression frightened him.

"Don't cry."

Wen Si Luo held a fruit fork in a reverse grip, only a few centimeters from the boy's neck, even gradually moving closer until he poked the boy painfully, making him scream.

"Get out, close the door properly."

He thought he was already very polite.

The boy's chest rose and fell a few times, his face flushed red with anger, and he shoved Wen Si Luo's shoulder hard.

"You wait! I'll get my dad to beat you!"

And then, that's what Jin Chen saw when he went upstairs.
