Chapter 1826: After Raising the Good Baby, I Faked My Death 20

~8 min read 1,482 words

Outside the lounge.

Yunran felt for the first time that this door was a bit too soundproof.

He couldn't hear anything.

"I just think that waiter has nothing to do with my first love."

Zhengyi boldly guessed, "Maybe Wen Si Luo was attracted to him and couldn't wait to use sex to soothe his irritable mood."

"Hey little Yunran, I'm still purer than you."

Yunran gave him a look, "Only you are the least pure; don't taint Luoge with your thoughts."

"That really hurts," Zhengyi said, though a hint of joy still lingered at the corner of his eyes, as if talking to Yunran was also a pleasant thing for him.

Qiaojiya listened to these adults discussing, not daring to guess they were talking about Xigemeng.

"What first love? Could Xigemeng possibly know the arena's young master?"

"Good Lord, that's a huge shocking piece of news."

Qiaojiya silently complained in his heart, staring at that door for hours, afraid his friend would never be able to come out again.

"Are you the friend of the person who just went in?" Yunran suddenly asked.

"Yes, Lord Yunran, I am Xigemeng's friend."

Qiaojiya was flattered and hurriedly took off his mask to reply.

"Xigemeng?" Recalling that person's face, Yunran furrowed his brows in doubt, "Is he an Annuonos or a Chinese?"

"He's mixed-blood, Lord Yunran."

Qiaojiya grew even more suspicious—could his friend really be hiding some secret identity?!

Just then, the lounge's main gate finally opened, but the scene that followed left the three people at the door even more shocked.

The intruding waiter wasn't dragged out or subjected to hidden rules as they had imagined.

Instead, he walked out holding the seemingly unconscious Wen Si Luo!

"Good Lord... what have I seen?" Qiaojiya stared, mouth agape.

The masked bodyguard couldn't tell whether the young master was asleep or unconscious, and, not daring to approach Jin Chen, was stopped by the gaze Jin Chen lifted toward him.

Jin Chen's voice was cool and indifferent: "He's just asleep; don't disturb him."

Zhengyi's teasing, sarcastic remark was shoved back, and he looked somewhat astonished at the tall man in the waiter's uniform who still couldn't hide his cold, imposing aura.

Yunran walked over, took a few glances, determined he was merely sleeping, and relaxed, reasoning that no one could cause trouble under Luoge's very nose.

"You're Yunran," Jin Chen asked.

"..." Yunran raised an eyebrow in reply, puzzled by his tone.

"Take me to where he lives," Jin Chen said, glancing at Yunran then at Zhengyi, the contemplation in his eyes briefly suppressed.

To him, the only thing that ever mattered more was his beloved.

"Fine, come with me."

Yunran gestured that the masked person didn't need to follow, "He's Luoge's friend; you don't need to be nervous."

As he led Jin Chen out of the lounge, the few people who had been paying special attention to the dark corners here all slipped away to report to their respective masters.

Even Zhengyi, who saw them off, wore a thoughtful expression.

The arena's first zone is nine stories high, the fighting platform is the top floor, and above that are levels divided by the wealth and status of the nobles.

The higher you go, the closer you are to the surface, and the oppressive, decaying smell grows weaker.

Wen Si Luo's residence is on the seventh floor, enjoying a complete, luxurious space all to itself—close to lavish yet cold and empty, as if no one lived there.

Perhaps seeing Jin Chen's probing gaze, Yunran voluntarily explained, "Luoge doesn't like tidying his lodgings, nor does he let others design them, so everything remains as it originally was."

Jin Chen's brows twitched slightly as he lowered his gaze to the person in his arms, denying it in his heart.

No, he thought; Guabao used to love buying things for the house, and every corner of their life was warm and full of charming details.

Only after passing through the corridor and entering the bedroom could one barely sense signs of life.

Jin Chen placed the sleeping Wen Si Luo from his arms onto the bed; as they had just separated, Wen Si Luo sensed it and was about to wake, his brows knitting tight.

"Guabao, big brother is here."

Jin Chen coaxed him to continue resting, skillfully patting his chest and gently leaning his forehead against his cheek.

The person on the bed soon fell asleep again, anxiously gripping Jin Chen's hand, palm pressed to his cheek before he could rest.

Yunran was already stunned by this scene.

Since Wen Si Luo first came to the arena, I've followed him, and in five years I've never seen Luoge like this.

It had even surpassed rarity, rising to a scene that might not even appear in dreams.

"That..."

Yunran ventured to ask, "Who are you? Are you the Chinese person Luoge has been looking for?"

But some of the information just doesn't match—it's really strange.

Could it be that Luoge himself misremembered?

Jin Chen's gaze flicked briefly to Yunran, "You've been looking all along?"

"Yes, Luoge has been searching for someone in China X City all along; many guess it's his early-deceased first love."

Yunran trailed off, feeling embarrassed, always having the sense that he was cursing someone's death.

"So that person is you, right?" he asked.

Jin Chen nodded somewhat wistfully, "It's me."

"Indeed," Yunran replied, not feeling particularly surprised, but thinking it was only natural—after all, Luoge's reaction couldn't be faked.

"You may leave now."

Jin Chen gave the order to leave without any courtesy.

"Then you... aren't leaving?" That also doesn't follow the rules.

"I want to help him take a bath."

Yunran: "..."

He slipped away quietly, no longer continuing to be a third wheel.

That night.

The informant told Wen Zhu about this.

The informant naturally didn't know the details about Jin Chen, only saying that Wen Si Luo suddenly had another man by his side.

But just a few short sentences were enough for Wen Zhu to guess it was Jin Chen.

That overly strange man.

He vanished suddenly, and yet he actually came back.

It was as if some hidden fear had been awakened; Wen Zhu thought of what had happened these past years, and of Wen Si Luo's changes.

Jin Chen would not let go of the person who made Wen Si Luo like this; among those seeking revenge, he feared he would be the first to bear the brunt.

"Hurry, go ask Mr. Eld—I want to see him, preferably tomorrow!"

"Yes."

——

The underground city had no sunlight, only automatic lighting devices used to mark time.

Wen Si Luo hadn't had such good sleep in a long time; upon waking, his spirits were much better, though he felt dazed.

Leaning against the headboard, he couldn't tell whether last night had been a dream or... vivid reality.

Whenever his longing had nowhere to go and he was on the verge of breaking down, Wen Si Luo would imagine his brother still by his side, even shutting the door to talk to him.

Fantasy made time a little less hard to endure.

But none of it was as clear and warm as yesterday.

Until Wen Si Luo caught the faint scent of agarwood lingering on the blanket—so faint only he could smell it—his pupils constricted in an instant and he sat up kneeling.

"Jin Chen..."

Jin Chen in the next compartment heard the voice, hurriedly responded and pushed the door open, "Guabao."

He sat beside the bed, pulled the thinly clad Wen Si Luo into his arms, gently rubbed his head, and said, "Call me brother."

"Brother."

Wen Si Luo's soft voice sounded like it came from another world, mist welling in his eyes as he buried himself further into the embrace.

Then his cheek was lifted by a finger, a warmth pressed to his forehead.

"Good morning kiss." Jin Chen's voice carried a smile that made Wen Si Luo feel at ease.

Wen Si Luo finally curled his lips, his dark eyes fixed on Jin Chen as he tilted his head and pressed his cheek against Jin Chen's as well.

"Your therapist just brought someone over, saying they're here to deliver medicine—should I let them in?"

Wen Si Luo blinked, nodded, and said, "I need to take the medicine."

He didn't say what medicine it was, yet he avoided Jin Chen's gaze.

"Then let's wash up first," Jin Chen said, but Wen Si Luo didn't get up, merely looking up at him pleadingly.

Five years hadn't worn away their mutual understanding.

Jin Chen raised his hand, "All right, brother, I'll carry you."

Wen Si Luo's hand moved from Jin Chen's shoulder up to wrap around his neck, obediently leaning into his chest to be lifted.

He was too loath to give up such an embrace and its warmth, unwilling to let go.
