Chapter 1847: The Frail Young Master's Luck-Bridging Beautiful Wife 02
In just a few seconds, Ye Yuchi forcibly suppressed his inner trembling, slowly approached the bedside, and actually knelt down.
Since the person is awake, one must keep up appearances.
"Husband, you're awake."
Jin Chen tilted his head, "Husband...?"
He blinked blankly at his clear, peach-blossom eyes, then scanned the room full of red silk, stretched out his hand from under the covers, and pointed at Ye Yuchi.
"Did we get married?"
Jin Chen's surprise was utterly genuine; Ye Yuchi's gaze fell on him, he lowered his head slightly, and explained, "Yes."
"Husband, you've been unconscious for a long time... I am the one who performed the Chongxi for you."
"Cough cough cough..."
This explanation obviously frightened the sickly young master; his pallid face flushed with an unhealthy red as he coughed, his fingertips desperately grabbing Ye Yuchi's wrist and pointing at the round table.
Ye Yuchi lowered his head to glance at his own wrist, then quickly pulled away and poured a cup of hot tea.
Jin Chen narrowly avoided coughing himself to death.
The hot tea soothed his throat, making him feel much better; he lowered his eyes sadly, handed the tea cup to Ye Yuchi, sighed sincerely, looking quite worried.
"Sorry."
Meeting Ye Yuchi's somewhat surprised gaze, Jin Chen said earnestly, "I didn't expect something like this to happen; you... are you willing?"
Ye Yuchi's eyes flickered; seeing his brows slightly furrowed, he could see the hesitation.
Jin Chen hadn't even reached the age of weak crown, had lived secluded in the manor with little experience, yet this inauspicious Chongxi affair made him first apologize to someone else.
Ye Yuchi suddenly felt that this young master was indeed frail of fate and terribly foolish.
He gave a self-mocking curl of his lips, "Husband, we have already bowed; even if unwilling, it's pointless."
"My family has received the silver; husband, you can rest assured."
Jin Chen tugged at him again, "Get up first; why are you speaking while kneeling?"
Ye Yuchi rose with the slight effort; the medicinal fragrance at the bedside mingled with a faint sandalwood, creating a distinctive scent.
He lowered his eyes slightly, then glanced at Jin Chen.
"Um... I can't drink alcohol; may I substitute tea for the wedding wine?" Jin Chen asked, looking back.
Ye Yuchi: "..."
Indeed, I didn't expect the young master to accept the fact so quickly.
He tilted his head back and drained a cup of wine; in his peripheral vision, Ye Yuchi noticed Jin Chen's curious yet somewhat complex expression, involuntarily stirring his heart, and he gazed back.
Jin Chen shyly averted his gaze and sighed, "You're really good-looking."
Ye Yuchi blinked, then immediately heard the question.
"What's your name, and how old are you? We don't seem to have met before." Jin Chen asked, then patiently waited for an answer.
Ye Yuchi's slender fingertips tightened; after hesitating a few seconds, his clear, pure voice sounded.
"Ye Zining."
"Eh...?"
Jin Chen, curled up under the blankets, moved closer, carefully examining Ye Yuchi's distant, cold brows and eyes, muttering, "I've seen Ye Zining before..."
"He's not as good-looking as you, and he's a bit foolish."
"You're not Ye Zining."
Ye Yuchi fell silent for a moment; a faint smile flickered in the depths of his eyes, hidden by his long lashes, as he made a move to kneel again.
"Husband, I didn't intend to hide this from you; the person who was supposed to marry you should have been Ye Zining."
The latter half of that sentence actually came out somewhat through gritted teeth.
Hearing this, Jin Chen shrank back, thinking, "This has nothing to do with me; we'll settle scores if there's a grudge."
"Alright, alright, but it's you who woke me up, right?"
Jin Chen took his hand, leaning forward curiously, "Then who exactly are you? Don't be afraid; I won't blame you."
"Ye Yuchi, I'm twenty-one this year."
"Ye Yuchi... you're also four years older than me, you're also of the Ye Family, just like Ye Zining; now I understand."
Jin Chen looked at him with a pang of pity, "I understand."
He gazed at him solemnly, gripping Ye Yuchi's hand as if promising, "Rest assured; even though... my body is like this, in the Jin Family I will never neglect you nor let you suffer injustice."
Ye Yuchi, however, did not feel this was false.
In his previous life, even if the Jin Family learned the truth and flew into a rage, they merely gave him a decent divorce letter and that old residence in the southern part of the city.
Otherwise, he would have become a beggar long ago.
The Jin Family's kindness, he had remembered for a long time, yet he had never had any other contact with the Jin Family members.
"Thank you, husband." Ye Yuchi lightly curled his lips.
After saying all that, Jin Chen was already exhausted.
Fortunately, according to this inexplicable frailty setting, merely being near Ye Yuchi alleviates much of it, even better than divine medicine.
Jin Chen again gently grasped Ye Yuchi's wrist, half-leaning against the headboard as he looked at him, "Come up and sleep; I won't move around."
Ye Yuchi's body stiffened for a moment; he turned his back, undid the waist sash, and took off the outer wedding robe.
Turning back, Jin Chen had already lain on the inner side, his peach-blossom eyes open and waiting.
Having lived two lifetimes, Ye Yuchi had never shared a bed with anyone before, yet for some reason, after a brief stiffness, he gradually accepted it.
After a while.
Jin Chen turned to look at him, his fingertip poking Ye Yuchi's arm, "Ye... Ah Ci."
"Husband, is there anything else you'd like to order?"
Do you usually sleep without blowing out the candle? It's weirdly bright.
Ye Yuchi: "..."
Being nervous ruins things; someone who has lived two lifetimes is still this impatient.
He was somewhat annoyed, got up and snuffed out the wedding candle.
In the darkness, two slow breaths intertwined.
"Ah Ci, I feel like I've dreamed of you before."
"... Husband, you should rest."
Whether they had dreamed of it or not, they had never seen such a thing before—how could there be something so bizarre?
Ye Yuchi's hand under the blanket was suddenly gently grasped, and a somewhat weary voice sounded again by his ear.
"Ah Ci, don't be afraid."
After a moment, only deep, long breaths remained—obviously he had fallen asleep.
Yet the hand holding his still hadn't let go, feeling somewhat hot.
Ye Yuchi stared blankly at the canopy, his thoughts tangled, unable to make sense of them.
Having been reborn, his greatest wish was nothing more than to utterly destroy the Ye family, then use the Jin Family's status as imperial merchants to change the outcome of his previous life.
But he hadn't expected that, before the plan could even be implemented, he would first encounter the biggest variable.
But even so…
Who knows when this young master will die?
It's best to make plans early, to keep the shops and silver in one's own hands—that's the top priority.
