Chapter 1944: After the Rewind, Love You Again 20

~6 min read 1,015 words

Ji Luo weakly flashed a dim light with his optical brain wristband, gesturing the number three to Jin Chen.

Game Rule 3: At 21:30 each night is cleaning time; do not lose her cleaning tools. If you do, immediately run to the stairwell.

Should we run now?

Ji Luo asked silently.

Jin Chen and Ruan Fu sat up and shook their heads at her.

Going out now, we might not even have time to run before being used as a mop.

Ruan Fu gripped a dagger, its blade flashing cold light, carrying an unquestionable ruthlessness and calm.

Just as Ji Luo thought the door panel would be smashed to pieces, the screams faded with the footsteps, then sounded again somewhere farther away.

"Have you seen my mop……"

Ji Luo let out a hard sigh of relief, just about to complain about how scary the ghost was, when Jin Chen threw a pillow that hit his head.

Ruan Fu stared coldly at the door, not relaxing her vigilance in the slightest.

No way! The ghost hasn't left yet?!

Ji Luo's heart, which had just settled, rose again; he lightly stepped on the floor and slowly moved toward the doorway.

Her figure was light, walking on the floor almost soundlessly; indeed, through the peephole crack she saw a white shadow floating.

Ji Luo turned around and nodded frantically!

Damn, Jin Chen saved my life again.

Ji Luo scratched his messy long hair.

【Detected villain Ji Luo's Blackening Value -5, total 55!】

After a while longer, that white shadow finally disappeared.

Immediately after, impatient footsteps came from not far away, seemingly heading straight for the stairwell.

"The players selected again followed the game rules; they should be fine too, right?" Ji Luo asked.

Ruan Fu's voice was cold and indifferent: "Who told you what the game says is true?"

Ji Luo: "... Damn."

The hotel door's soundproofing isn't good, and the stairwell is close, so they can hear almost everything clearly.

The three players who stepped into the stairwell were not safe.

"Don't… don't come over!"

The players had already entered the stairwell; besides a cleaning cart, there was nothing else, with a broken, foul-smelling broom and a headless mop scattered in the corner.

And the fierce ghost dressed as a cleaner didn't stop at all!

"Have you seen my mop……"

The cleaner's face was distorted and ferocious, eyes constantly sweeping back and forth over the three people: "You haven't seen it, what a pity……"

"Get out! Get out!" they screamed loudly; the adrenaline burst from impending death forced resistance, but any defensive items they used just passed straight through the cleaner's body.

Swish!

One player's shoulder was touched by a pale, rotting hand; he instantly couldn't move, only able to despairingly watch the cleaner slowly tilt her head: "Do you want to be my mop?"

No……

"Save me! Save me!"

But the other two, scared stupid, had their brains short-circuit, only realizing in time that the cleaner ghost would kill only one person.

They gritted their teeth, lifted their weak legs, and turned to run.

"Ahhhhh!!"

Their ankle was shoved into a garbage truck, their neck jammed into disinfectant, only their head was usable.

"Too bad, it's not long hair."

The cleaner shook her head, took the headless mop handle, and inserted it.

The shrill screams behind them made the two fleeing players' hearts race faster; in a daze, they couldn't tell which room was theirs.

When they ran out of strength, the two finally stopped, their throats dry.

"We…… are we lost?"

Realizing this desperate problem, the two players stiffly turned their heads, trying to discern which way in the dim hallway was the correct path.

They no longer trusted the game rules; maybe even standing still would get them killed!

"How did you end up here?"

A doubtful voice suddenly came from the right hallway.

The two players felt like they'd been pardoned: "Where did you come from? We're lost, hurry and take us back!"

"Ah…… okay."

The hallway carpet was thick and silent; every painting at each intersection was identical, making it impossible to tell front from back or left from right.

Jin Chen leaned against the partition, raising his hand to block Cheng Chuan's gun muzzle, utterly helpless: "I said, you called me out just for this."

During the scuffle, Cheng Chuan saw the birthmark on Jin Chen's arm, then coldly withdrew his hand, his suspicious gaze still not fading.

"Who exactly are you."

"Jin Chen."

Jin Chen responded extremely quickly, even a bit weary: "Buddy, you're more clingy than a fierce ghost."

Cheng Chuan put away his gun, then suddenly asked: "How did you come from that side of the hallway?"

"People have three urgencies; need me to take you there?" Jin Chen said expressionlessly.

Cheng Chuan: "..."

He was obviously no match for Jin Chen.

Watching Cheng Chuan return safely to the neighboring room, Jin Chen leaned against the doorway, gazing thoughtfully at the far end of the hallway.

A few seconds later, he pushed the door open and returned, seeing Ji Luo and Ruan Fu looking over; they had clearly heard everything just said, yet no one asked further.

Jin Chen pinched his brow, walked past the coolly expressionless Ruan Fu, slipped under the covers to sleep, then patted the side of the bed, saying, "Come sleep."

Ruan Fu's lips pressed slightly, a few strands of hair hanging over her forehead, covering her furrowed brow.

After a long while, only when she heard Jin Chen's even breathing did Ruan Fu walk to the bedside, her gaze drifting to the Jin Chen buried under the covers; she hesitated, lifting her fingertips, and finally pulled the blanket corner over him.

In the darkness, Ruan Fu gazed out the window like an abyss, sighing in bewildered confusion; her killing intent had long been suppressed by another emotion in her oblivious state.

The next morning, all players were awakened by the game's notification sound.

〖Live broadcast: 29 survivors. 〗

Three people died all at once!

All the players were stunned—this cleaning ghost is actually this fierce!
