Chapter 1946: After the Rewind, Love You Again 22

~6 min read 1,019 words

The clues still need to be checked; Jin Chen still hopes to find the pass‑through gold coins soon.

Inside the inn, players can't accurately gauge the space; they can only rely on the four floors to find clues, but the owner, already up early, stands in the dining room like a ghost, warning players not to go to the fourth floor during the first three days.

So Jin Chen led the Hope Squad straight to the fourth floor.

They ended up with nothing.

The fourth floor hadn't even spawned yet; when Jin Chen opened the door, he almost fell into a bottomless fog.

"Come on, just say it—do you want to drag us all to die with you?" Ji Luo said in a gloomy tone.

Jin Chen: "Don't keep saying unlucky things."

He acted as if nothing had happened and went back to the third floor.

"I was here yesterday and saw those two players suddenly disappear," Jin Chen said bluntly, standing at one corner of the hallway, his side directly facing a hanging painting.

Jin Chen had already examined the painting yesterday; aside from the overly rich colors inside that made one feel a bit uncomfortable, there was nothing else special about it.

"Hey, those two corpses were found over there," Gao Kai said, puzzled, pointing to the far end of the stairwell, "Did they run that fast?"

Jin Chen: "So I suspect there's some kind of other‑dimensional space here—what the game rules call getting lost."

Yun Zaozao asked: "Then did you see the hunter who killed the players?"

"No, I can't get in," Jin Chen shrugged. "It might require triggering some mechanism to enter this other‑dimensional space."

Ruan Fu took down the painting; there was nothing behind it, yet she didn't put it back, instead staring thoughtfully in a certain direction.

Jin Chen followed her gaze: "What are you looking at?"

"A reflection."

Ruan Fu usually speaks very little; she only says a few more words when Jin Chen makes her angry.

Yun Zaozao, also a researcher, was as meticulous as Ruan Fu; she quickly noticed something off, used her wristband to shine light and break the reflective arc at the corner, and finally determined the direction of the light's refraction.

Yun Zaozao and Ruan Fu, without prior agreement, both looked up at the wallpaper above the painting.

Taking advantage of his height, Jin Chen stretched out his arm and tore away the layer of open‑work wallpaper that used light to conceal something deep.

A mirror appeared before their eyes.

Oh no!

Jin Chen saw that the mirror had a red frame; just looking at it felt ominous.

"Don't look, turn it away," Jin Chen said extremely quickly.

"Damn, what the hell is this?" Gao Kai jumped in fright.

"A red mirror."

Game Rule 6: Do not stare at a red mirror for too long, do not carry mirrors or reflective items on your person, lest it fix its gaze on you.

Jin Chen lifted his hand and sniffed his fingertips; a faint smell of blood.

That mirror had been dyed red with blood.

Jin Chen turned back, expressionless, and punched the mirror.

The five people who heard the noise: "……."

The mirror provoked you.

Ling Gun Gun blared: 【Host!! You have no Spiritual Power right now!】

Don't be so pretentious!

Only after the blare did they realize Jin Chen had his eyes closed.

【……】Still quite cherishing life.

The mirror showed no cracks, but the bloody smell grew stronger, gradually spreading throughout the hallway.

Jin Chen suddenly realized he had lost his sense of space.

This had never happened before.

Can't see……

Last night it was so dark; those two players, busy escaping, couldn't see their surroundings either.

So, is this the point?

"Jin Chen, what are you doing?" Ruan Fu, still with her back to him, reached out and grabbed his wrist; her cool tone hid a worry she herself hadn't even noticed.

In an instant, Jin Chen took her hand and replied, "It's fine."

"Try closing your eyes," Jin Chen said.

The five, unsure what to do, half‑believing, closed their eyes, and the quick‑witted among them soon noticed a clue.

"You have to close your eyes to enter the other‑dimensional space," Cheng Chuan said, rarely speaking.

"But… what are we supposed to do in there?" Ji Luo asked, bewildered.

"Look for clues; maybe there are pass‑through gold coins."

One sentence from Jin Chen instantly convinced the five.

They put their arms around each other's shoulders, with Jin Chen leading, and slowly continued forward.

Cheng Chuan walked last; as he passed beneath the mirror where Jin Chen had just stood, he suddenly felt a cold stare staring at him, making him very uneasy.

Cheng Chuan, possessed by some impulse, opened his eyes; in an instant his pupils contracted, locking gazes with the bloody red eyes that suddenly appeared inside the red mirror.

In a place where no one could see, Cheng Chuan slowly closed his eyes again; his irises turned red for a moment, then vanished instantly.

The thick carpet made no sound as they stepped; in the quiet, narrow hallway, with eyes closed it seemed only their own breathing and heartbeat remained.

Humans easily lose composure in such an unsafe environment; even a slight disturbance can trigger fear.

They didn't know how long they had walked, but they clearly knew this was no longer the space they were staying in—the inn's hallway wasn't this long.

Every few minutes, Jin Chen would have the person behind him report the count.

During the third count, Jin Chen suddenly slammed head‑first into an obstacle.

"What is it?" Ruan Fu sensed something was wrong, immediately wanted to release Jin Chen's hand to probe, but was held even tighter.

"Don't move." Jin Chen whispered, raising his hand to feel, and felt the wallpaper icy cold.

Jin Chen's eyes snapped open.

They had walked into a dead end; ahead were picture frames and walls, behind them stretched an seemingly endless dark-red corridor and doorframe.

"We've come in."

After Jin Chen finished speaking, the five of them almost simultaneously opened their eyes.
