Chapter 2119: If I Were an AI, Would You Love Me? 30
The car stopped at the edge of the upper city district on a barren plain, cold wind howling and lifting dust from the ground, the air filled with a pungent smell of corrosion.
This place has been abandoned for a long time; whatever you see is nothing but half‑person‑high broken walls and ruins, almost completely visible.
"Are they here?"
Xu He got out of the car, not doubting Jin Chen's detection ability as a robot, but couldn't help feeling suspicious.
Jin Chen stood beside the car, the data stream in his retinal display constantly shifting, finally locking onto an area overgrown with weeds.
"Here." Jin Chen said softly.
Xu He stood at his side, expression grave, doubt showing in his eyes: "This place looks like there's nothing at all."
Jin Chen didn't answer, merely crouched and gently pushed aside the weeds with his fingers, revealing a concealed metal hatch.
He pulled the hatch open with force, a cold, damp air rushed up from below, carrying a pungent chemical smell, and bloodstains were scattered across the ground.
Xu He widened his eyes; this really tested the limits of his cognition as a researcher.
The two followed the stairs down from the hatch into the chamber; cold white light poured down from the ceiling, casting mottled patterns on the walls, and the air was filled with a piercing chill.
"This is a laboratory." Xu He said solemnly.
These pieces of equipment and the layout could not be more familiar.
The laboratory's corridor was long and narrow, dimly lit, with tightly shut metal doors on either side bearing blurred labels, as if silently whispering of some dangerous secret.
Suddenly, several masked mechanical bodies emerged from the end of the corridor, their bodies made of metal and machinery, moving stiffly yet swiftly.
"Intruder, halt immediately!" the mechanical bodies' icy voice warned. "Otherwise, you will be erased at once!"
Jin Chen's eyes turned icy in an instant, and he went to meet the charging masked mechanical bodies.
In an instant, a strong surge of electricity burst in the air, snaking along the floor and exploding on the mechanical bodies' frames, emitting a piercing "crackle" and scattering sparks.
"Jin Chen, be careful!" Xu He exclaimed, clearly not expecting him to act directly—hadn't they agreed not to startle the snake?
Jin Chen ran straight inward, flames igniting around him; the mechanical bodies' frames melted rapidly in the fire, emitting a piercing metallic Distorted sound.
Xu He stared dumbfounded at all this, muttering under his breath: "My goodness..."
He was utterly certain this was not an attack module that could be implanted by the experimental center.
No wonder the people of the Special Security Bureau are so afraid of Jin Chen.
Anyone human would be terrified!
Ling Gun Gun hurriedly reminded: 【Host! Turn left ahead, then go down one level, fourth room!】
——
Inside a certain room of the laboratory.
Xu Xuxing was leaning against the wall, breathing rapidly.
His protective suit was torn, red blotches spreading over his arms and neck, as if countless ants were gnawing at every organ inside his body.
"Little Xu, little Xu, are you okay?" Song Shoujie, bound beside him, anxious, asked in a low voice.
He wanted to put distance between himself and Xu Xuxing, but couldn't move an inch.
Xu Xuxing weakly nodded, his voice hoarse and feeble, forcing himself to focus.
"I'm still okay… but my suit is torn; I can't hold out much longer."
At the far end of the room, the bald‑headed doctor stood before a complex array of instruments, occasionally glancing at Xu Xuxing's condition, still somewhat dissatisfied.
He had to elicit every symptom from this body.
"You two, quit wasting your effort," the doctor said low‑voiced, his tone chillingly indifferent, "Xu Xuxing, your body is perfect experimental material; I won't let this chance slip by."
"What a perfect allergy‑reaction sample..."
The bald‑headed doctor fixated on the pulsing blood vessel in Xu Xuxing's neck, dragged him over, the laser cutter in his hand humming, "As long as I strip away your..."
Just as the doctor was about to activate the instrument, the room's door was suddenly kicked open.
Jin Chen's silhouette appeared in the doorway, behind him Xu He held a gun, expression grim.
At the same moment, Xu Xuxing seized the opportunity, struggled to his feet, and drove the needle hidden in his sleeve into the doctor's skull.
The bald‑headed doctor's face changed drastically; he strained with all his might to break free, his eyes bulging.
No one knows better than him what these liquids are!
Xu Xuxing has become like this—when did he even get hold of it!
But the incoming surge of electricity locked him firmly in place.
Jin Chen pressed the icy blade of his mechanical knife against the doctor's throat, watching as that tube of liquid was fully pushed in.
"Ah…! No… no!!!"
The doctor clutched his punctured head; the whites of his eyes instantly flooded with a dirty gray.
He lurched forward, knocking over every instrument on the lab bench, trembling and terrified, reaching for that small cabinet at the innermost part.
It won't get infected!!
As long as it's taken in time, it won't...
The metal cabinet was stepped on by the toe of a shoe.
The doctor jerked his head up, seeing Jin Chen looking down from above, his gaze indifferent and cold.
"Let go… let go!" the doctor trembled all over, weakly beating at Jin Chen's shoe.
Xu He pulled him back, bound him with the restraints from the experimental bed, and furiously punched him several times.
"You bastard! Who let you kidnap them?! Who the hell are you, you son of a bitch!"
Jin Chen kicked the metal case toward Song Shoujie: "Open it and see."
Immediately afterward, Jin Chen caught Xu Xuxing as he lunged into his arms, testing the temperature at his neck with the back of his hand.
It was scaldingly hot.
Xu Xuxing couldn't stop panting, as if a piece of plastic had been forcibly wedged in his throat, cutting painfully, obstructing his breath, his heart pounding like it was about to burst.
He couldn't speak, his gaze toward Jin Chen wet and brimming, tears unstoppably sliding from the corners of his eyes.
At the moment the protective suit was torn open, Xu Susong thought he would never see Jin Chen again.
"Be good, take the medicine." Jin Chen swiftly pulled a strong medicine from his waist, fed it to him, then gently rubbed Xu Susong's eye corners, alternating spray and edible disinfectant capsules.
Xu Susong cooperated obediently the whole time, but he never loosened his fingers gripping Jin Chen's hem, turning them white.
In Song Shoujie's complex and shocked gaze, Jin Chen retrieved a protective suit from space, picked up Xu Susong in a horizontal hold, and found a relatively sterile environment for experimentation.
Before leaving, he didn't forget to urge Xu He to pry some information out of the doctor's mouth.
That tone was so cold that Xu He couldn't help but shiver, and he immediately gave the doctor another punch.
"You old bastard, still won't speak!"
"If you don't speak, we'll all be doomed!"
Song Shoujie noticed the fallen needle on the ground, for some reason his heart felt a bit uneasy, he hurriedly grabbed Xu He, "Don't touch him, he might be unclean."
He picked up the mechanical knife Jin Chen had thrown away, put on gloves and a mask, and stabbed fiercely at the doctor in a state of shock.
After a painful howl, the doctor briefly regained clear vision, becoming even more fearful; this fear was not directed at them.
Song Shoujie took out a vial of medicine preserved in liquid nitrogen from an iron cabinet, "Answer our questions, and this will be yours."
In the desperate, distorted eyes of the doctor, a light suddenly burst forth!
