Chapter 2235: Love Trapped in the Fate Loop 34

~7 min read 1,391 words

Speaking of which, it's also strange.

Jin Chen had contacted the police; he had just planned to arrive at the apartment and get ahead to catch Sun Liwei, but as soon as he got out of the car, he was met with a heavy rain.

Rainwater flowed down the peeling tiles of the apartment's outer wall, refracting a cold light under the dim streetlamp.

"Really damn it, how did I come back again?" Shao Huai clicked his tongue, hooking Xu Yi's finger, "We won't get stuck in a time reset again, will we?"

Xu Yi: "No, we didn't pick up a coin this time."

"Same here." Shao Huai relaxed a bit.

Jin Chen still held a dinner knife, pressing it against the assassin's lower back.

The assassin staggered toward the apartment's main gate.

"Remember, you have no other choice." Jin Chen's lowered voice mixed with the rain, like a poisoned blade.

The assassin felt it absurd, nodding hurriedly.

Jin Chen watched the assassin's back disappear at the stairwell entrance.

Xie Guan stood at his side, rainwater dripped from his hair tips, spreading dark stains across his back.

The windows of the apartment's sixth floor looked like black holes.

The window of Room 610 was especially gloomy, occasionally a cold flashlight beam flickered through the curtain gap.

Shao Huai crouched by the fire hydrant, his voice extremely low: "How do we do this—wait for Sun Liwei to lower his guard, then just rush in?"

"We'll split into two groups; I'll go down alone from the seventh floor, Sun Liwei still has other assassins with him, we need to divert their attention."

Jin Chen returned to search Engineer Song's previous room, and indeed found a rope the police hadn't fully cleaned up.

He fastened the rope around his waist, the metal clasp making a crisp click.

"I'll go down from the seventh floor; you wait at the entrance." Jin Chen said.

Xie Guan pulled out a mint candy from his pocket; the wrapper made a faint sound in the quiet hallway, then he shoved it into Jin Chen's mouth.

"Be careful." Xie Guan's voice was soft, and he quickly pecked Jin Chen's corner of the mouth.

Shao Huai quickly checked the hallway's safety: "We'll be waiting outside the door for your signal."

The seventh floor's fire escape door emitted a grating squeak.

Jin Chen climbed over the railing, his figure vanished into the rain curtain, the rappel rope tracing an almost invisible arc in the darkness.

He was agile, like a nocturnal feline, silently landing on the windowsill of Room 610.

In the curtain gap, Sun Liwei's profile looked especially ferocious under the desk lamp, the assassin lowering his head to report.

Jin Chen's silhouette clung to the window, like a still cutout, waiting for the optimal moment to breach.

He pressed his right earpiece: "Besides Sun Liwei, there are seven assassins inside the room."

Inside the room, hearing that he hadn't directly killed Xie Guan, Sun Liwei was first shocked.

"Trash! Can't even handle a student!"

Sun Liwei's roar, mixed with the burnt smell of his cigar, drifted out the window.

He kicked over the coffee table, the glass cup smashing against the wall with a shattering sound that made Jin Chen narrow his eyes.

After all, two years ago Xie Guan was just an underage student who could only silently endure such things.

Sun Liwei didn't feel that two years had passed, wondering how much Xie Guan could have grown.

He couldn't even kill a professional assassin!

Then came anger over the plan's failure.

"Those cops outside are hunting me down! They even want to investigate the case from two years ago… what idiots."

Sun Liwei, accustomed to living free of the law, suddenly faced a threat again and began loudly insulting Xie Guan's father.

That person was his benefactor and biggest partner.

He accused him of false pretentiousness, unable to make money and not letting others earn either.

Jin Chen observed for a while; those assassins, having heard it too many times, fell silent, their vigilance weaker than before.

Who let that idiot have money, insisting on overqualified hires to serve as bodyguards?

Jin Chen's knuckles tapped on the glass, producing a crisp sound, and the cursing inside stopped abruptly.

Sun Liwei's bulky body visibly trembled, cigar ash falling in bits onto the leather sofa.

"Who?!"

He snapped his head around, the flesh on his face gleaming with oil in the dim light.

The next second, Jin Chen had kicked the entire window to pieces.

Glass shards poured down like a downpour; in midair he released the rappel rope, using momentum to break through the window and enter.

Upon landing he rolled to dissipate force, shards scraping fine white marks on his clothes.

"Stop him!"

Sun Liwei's roar changed tone, the fat on his face trembling violently.

Two assassins lunged from behind the sofa, one drawing a dagger that flashed cold in the light.

Jin Chen sidestepped, then grabbed the attacker's wrist and threw him over his shoulder; the man slammed hard onto the coffee table, wood chips flying.

"Come in." Jin Chen whispered urgently, "They didn't bring guns, only daggers."

Hearing that, the assassin nearly vomited blood from anger, even wanting to punch Sun Liwei.

We were told they were just a few smelly students, so they didn't bother bringing guns.

What kind of students are this fierce!

Just then, the violent bang of the door being kicked down shook the chandelier.

Shao Huai was the first to rush in, Xu Yi holding a flashlight, its strong beam shining directly into Sun Liwei's eyes.

Xie Guan followed closely behind, gripping an axe taken from the fire hydrant.

Sun Liwei stumbled back, his leather shoes scraping on the broken glass and making a piercing sound.

In his panic he grabbed the ashtray on the table and threw it at Xie Guan, but Jin Chen stepped forward and blocked it.

Amid the chaos, the assassin who had first been threatened by Jin Chen caught the glance, immediately realizing how ruthless this person—even more perverted than a pervert—could be.

"Take your people and leave," Jin Chen said coldly, as if they won't get the money and will lose their lives here if they don't go.

The assassin made up his mind, "Go!"

【Heh heh, you really ran fast.】 Ling Gun Gun praised, 【Non-stop dashing toward the police car~】

"Hey! Hey! Where are you going?" Sun Liwei finally felt afraid, wanted to follow, but Shao Huai grabbed his collar and shut the door.

"Where are you going? Come in!"

Xu Yi remained calm, standing at the doorway he flicked the flashlight's strong beam onto Sun Liwei, as if looking at a mangy dog awaiting slaughter.

Sun Liwei lost his biggest support, was pressed to the ground and couldn't get up.

"Xie Guan… I've actually been screwed over by you!"

"Your father is just a hypocrite! With such a good way to make money, why not use it and still report me? No profit without deceit—I just want to make money… it's your father who won't let me off!"

Sun Liwei hysterical roared, "Back then, if it weren't for him——"

Xie Guan's axe struck the floor beside Sun Liwei's foot, the wooden plank splitting open a ferocious gash.

"Shut up."

His voice was colder than the evening rain outside the window, "You have no right to mention my father."

The rain suddenly intensified, large drops slanting in through the broken window and wetting the documents scattered on the floor.

Jin Chen bent down and picked up a sheet, on which was unmistakably the signature of Xie Guan's father from when he was alive.

He lifted his head to look at Xie Guan, discovering that the other's eyes shone frighteningly in the dim light.

Xie Guan beat Sun Liwei for a long time; Sun Liwei, soaked in wine and meat these past two years, was all flab and no match for a youngster, beaten until he could barely crawl.

"I want to take him to 806," Xie Guan said, "Before the police arrive, let Sun Liwei kneel at the door of 806 and repent."

For the four evenings that died here.

"No… I won't go! I won't go!!"

Sun Liwei's reaction was unprecedentedly large.

Jin Chen raised his brow slightly, "You don't get a choice."
