Chapter 2313: Love and Chaos: System Grand Battle 37
You Le An curled up at the cold stairwell, each beat of his heart bringing a dull pain.
Cold sweat soaked his forehead's bangs, sticking to his pale skin.
He gasped heavily, trying to oppose the excruciating pain and emptiness rising from deep within his soul.
The butler, carrying tea, happened to pass by, saw You Le An curled up at the stairwell, his face deathly pale, and was so startled he almost dropped the tray.
He hurriedly set things down and stepped forward quickly: "Young Master You! What's wrong? Where do you feel uncomfortable?"
You Le An was in so much pain he couldn't speak, merely clutching his chest clothing tightly, his knuckles whitening, his body trembling uncontrollably.
"Go to the hospital." You Le An said, "Take me to the hospital."
The butler dared not delay, immediately dialed Jin Chen's phone, his voice laced with anxiety.
"Young Master! Young Master You is at the stairwell, his complexion terrible, he needs to go to the hospital."
On the other end of the line, there was a moment of silence.
Immediately came Jin Chen's steady voice: "Understood, send him to the Jin Family's hospital."
"Yes!" The butler, having received the order, immediately carefully helped up You Le An, who was in so much pain he was nearly faint.
"Young Master You, bear with it, I'll take you to the hospital right away."
The Jin Family's private hospital is extremely efficient.
You Le An was directly sent to the highest-specification examination room.
Various precise instruments took turns, and an experienced expert team conducted a careful examination.
However, the results were puzzling.
All possible imaging examinations showed his bodily organs were healthy.
"Young Master You, based on all the examination results so far," the white-haired old dean pushed his glasses, "your body... has no organic problems."
You Le An leaned against the hospital bed, his complexion still pale, his brows furrowed.
Although that deep bone‑marrow pain had eased slightly, the heavy emptiness in his chest and the occasional dull ache remained clear.
He stared at the stack of normal reports before him, feeling only absurd.
No illness—then where does this heart‑rending pain come from?
"Given that you indeed have obvious discomfort symptoms, we suggest..." the dean chose his words carefully, "It would be best to stay in the hospital for observation for a few days, and we will arrange some deeper..."
"No need." You Le An immediately interrupted him, his voice tinged with irritation and resistance.
He threw off the blanket and tried to get out of bed.
"Young Master You!" the butler and the doctor both tried to stop him.
"I said no need!" You Le An's tone was firm.
He shoved aside the butler's hand that tried to support him and rushed out of the ward.
The butler, helpless, could only hurry after him.
You Le An walked aimlessly, briskly, along the tranquil garden path of the hospital.
As evening approached, the sunlight was warm and gentle, the stuffy heat gone, yet it could not dispel the gloom in his heart or the lingering hidden pain in his body.
He stopped beside an iron railing overgrown with vines, somewhat dazedly gazing at the bustling street outside.
Just then, not far from the railing outside, the scene on the hospital bench caught his eye.
A young girl, her face pale, weakly leaned against her boyfriend's embrace, seeming quite unwell.
Her boyfriend, face full of worry, tightly held her, gently stroking her hair, his lips near her ear, as if softly comforting her.
You Le An stared blankly, his brows unconsciously tightening.
The heavy dull ache in his chest, upon seeing that couple embracing, suddenly became complicated.
No longer just a tearing sensation, it was mixed with an indescribable... longing.
It seemed... he too should have such a warm embrace, capable of wrapping up all his present discomfort, confusion, and pain.
He needed to be held, to be comforted, to be enveloped by that unreserved tenderness.
But... who is that person?
You Le An instinctively raised his hand, pressing it against his still faintly aching heart.
Under his fingertips lay a steady yet hollow beat.
Jin Chen.
That name sprang into his mind out of nowhere, accompanied by the image he had just seen at the stairwell: that tall, aloof figure who didn't look back as he walked toward the study.
His chest felt another sharp stab of pain.
Worse than before.
You Le An sucked in a cold breath, bent over, pressing his chest.
Why does thinking of him hurt more?
Jin Chen—shouldn't he hate him to the extreme, be gentle only toward Lin Xi?
Seeing him in pain would only feel like a nuisance, maybe even cause him to clap in delight.
His tangled thoughts were like a knotted mess; the chest pain and the intense, unplaceable longing to be embraced intertwined, making You Le An more irritable and bewildered.
"Young Master You," the butler finally caught up, watching You Le An press his chest, his face pale, worried.
"How... how do you feel? Should we go back to the ward? Or head home? The Young Master ordered, everything follows your wishes."
You Le An lifted his head, looking at the butler.
The Jin Family villa—he still didn't know why he would be there, but that place... had Jin Chen.
The emptiness in his chest seemed to expand because of those two simple words, bringing a strong tugging sensation.
He didn't want to go back to face that man who made him chaotic and painful, yet... it seemed there was nowhere else to go.
Moreover, deep in his heart, it seemed a faint voice wanted to return.
He was silent for a few seconds, finally drooping his eyelids wearily, his voice low and hoarse, carrying a hint of resigned helplessness.
"... Go back."
——
In the villa's living room, the warm lighting and expensive fragrance that had created a cozy atmosphere now felt like an invisible cage.
You Le An sat stiffly on the edge of the sofa, his back ramrod straight.
Lin Ying and Wei Duo Li Ya sat beside him, their faces full of worry.
"An-an, what exactly is uncomfortable? Tell your foster mom, don't push yourself." Lin Ying softened her voice, wanting to touch his forehead.
You Le An instinctively turned his head to avoid, the motion showing obvious resistance.
He lowered his eyes, his voice stiff, "It's fine."
Wei Duo Li Ya also leaned in, "Did you and Xiao Chen have a fight? This afternoon you two seemed fine……"
"No fight." You Le An cut her off, his voice colder, "I'm fine. I don't need you to do this."
He didn't understand. Why were they worrying about him like this?
This feeling was foreign and awkward.
He wasn't Lin Xi; only when injured did he deserve everyone's solicitous care.
He shot up to his feet, the movement swift enough to stir a breeze.
"I'm going upstairs."
Throwing those words behind him, he walked toward the stairs without looking back, leaving the two moms staring at each other, their eyes filled with deeper bewilderment.
And yet he claimed he wasn't being awkward, when his face practically screamed awkwardness.
Stepping onto the stairs, he bumped head-on into Lin Xi coming downstairs.
"Le An?" Lin Xi saw his pale complexion and obviously off state, startled for a moment, then instinctively asked, "Why is your complexion so bad? Just now downstairs…… Are you okay? Should I call a doctor to check again?"
Although Lin Xi learned that the You Le An before him was likely not the former You Le An.
But he didn't know the former You Le An either, yet he couldn't help but care.
After all…… even if the sky fell, his older brother would still be holding it up; maybe he could even squeeze in a little extra.
