Chapter 233: Rescue the Ruthless Mafia Boss 21
The next day, everyone in the manor saw Jin Chen come downstairs unharmed, and they all expressed shock.
The two maids in charge of sweeping the stairs took a deep breath, saw surprise in each other's eyes, and then their gazes unconsciously fell on Jin Chen's waist.
To make the boss change his mind so quickly and stop locking him up must have come at a painful cost!
Jin Chen blinked, not understanding what was wrong with these people.
He put the necklace back on Meng Fuchi, urging him earnestly.
"Chi Ge, don't take it off again."
He fingered the jade pendant, Meng Fuchi nodded in agreement, and upon closer look his lips still showed slight swelling.
"I won't take it off again."
He could see that Jin Chen currently lacked a sense of security, and if wearing the necklace made him happy, that would be fine.
"Chief, Qiang Ge and the two vice chiefs are waiting for you in the study."
The steward stepped forward to remind him.
"Hmm."
Meng Fuchi regained his cold expression and said, "From now on, Liang Shu's work will be your responsibility, and the personal assistant duties will be given to Jin Chen."
"Okay."
In the study, A Qiang and the others curiously sized up Jin Chen, their glances repeatedly flicking to his waist.
Jin Chen: "……"
He seemed to suddenly understand something.
"Chi Ge, why are they all staring at me? It's scary."
He pursed his lips and tugged his sleeve in one smooth motion, then followed Meng Fuchi to the main seat at the desk and sat down.
Meng Fuchi patted the back of his hand reassuringly, his fierce gaze sweeping over.
A Qiang and the others immediately pretended nothing was wrong, simultaneously looking up at the ceiling.
"Boss, did you really tie him up yesterday?"
Zuokun was dying of curiosity.
But looking at Jin Chen's condition, he didn't seem overworked.
"Mind your own business, where's Du Ruosong?"
Meng Fuchi feared that if Jin Chen remembered this he would be hurt again, so he quickly interrupted Zuokun's question and warned him with a look.
"I don't know; I didn't see him last night—I went to contact the Aogu Family."
Zuokun scratched his head, refocused on the matter, and asked the other two, "Do you know?"
"Chu Cang: I started monitoring him yesterday, discovered he was counter‑surveilling us; fortunately the tech team is a bit stronger, they blocked the signal in time, though he might have noticed."
His tone grave, he handed a document to Meng Fuchi.
"As the boss said, he harbors ill intent, wants to drag you down completely, and has planted his own mole in the police station, waiting to frame you for hoarding contraband."
Speaking of surveillance, Meng Fuchi suddenly recalled that when Jin Chen first arrived, he had installed a nano camera in his room.
He rubbed his nose, deciding it was better not to let Jin Chen know about this—coaxing people is exhausting.
He took the document and examined it carefully; it showed Du Ruosong's recent movements.
It seems Devil really is backing him—he acts with full confidence, not even bothering to destroy evidence.
"Is the mole in the police station confirmed?"
Meng Fuchi was thinking, habitually tapping his fingers on the table—a usual gesture when he pondered—but suddenly noticed his right hand being pulled and played with by Jin Chen; about to pull away, he saw Jin Chen's slightly aggrieved expression.
He could only relent, even returning the grip soothingly.
"Certain, we have the evidence—should we cooperate with the police?" Chu Cang asked.
ELF has grown so large, also working with the police to solve some cases, and even with unruly gangs it amounts to peaceful coexistence.
"First contact them, meanwhile report the contraband matter, have them send people over to join us at this cruise banquet, and wipe out Devil and Du Ruosong's people in one fell swoop."
Meng Fuchi also looked at A Qiang and asked, "How's the investigation into Devil going?"
"They're very strict; so far they've found nothing, but word has it they came to Huaguo this time to make a big profit and then dismantle several organizations worldwide that threaten them."
A Qiang also handed Meng Fuchi a document: "A British gang was wiped out by them—from leader to hundreds of members, none survived—and Devil is therefore called a violent organization."
"By the way, boss, there's one more thing."
A Qiang found it strange, chuckled twice, and opened the tablet to log into the website.
"Recently, an independent assassin named 'Xunchen' appeared in the international mercenary organization; supposedly also a Huaguo national, he has never taken any offline commissions, but online he has completed nearly a hundred organization‑requested analyses, solving cases quickly and accurately."
"These past two days he suddenly announced he will attend this banquet and personally kill Devil's leader."
Meng Fuchi looked at Xunchen's personal page on the tablet; the avatar was the default skull, and aside from replies to help‑request posts, there was hardly any personal information.
He tilted his head, finding it interesting.
"An enemy's enemy isn't necessarily a friend either—we still need to be careful."
Jin Chen also glanced at the tablet, then withdrew his gaze and clung to Meng Fuchi, wanting him to look at himself.
"What's there to see on the homepage? Nothing at all—Chi Ge, just look at me instead."
He clung to Meng Fuchi's arm, his tone clingy.
"Then let's leave it at that for now."
Meng Fuchi chuckled, ruffled Jin Chen's hair, and said, "The cruise banquet is in a week—do you want to go together?"
"Of course I'll go—don't even think about leaving me at home alone, Chi Ge."
Jin Chen hummed twice, showed his wrist still reddish, and said, "If you're not here, I won't apply medicine—when you come back my hand will break!"
A Qiang and the others: "……"
I really don't get these lovebirds' tastes—just that little wound; if they came back any later, it would probably have healed.
Everyone go get ready; don't alert Du Ruosong's side, we'll act once we're on the cruise ship.
Meng Fuchi gestured to them.
"Okay, boss!"
The three stood up and left.
In the study, only two people remained; Jin Chen let his guard down, pulling the person into his embrace, "Brother Chi is really busy, hasn't eaten anything for breakfast, just rushed to talk with them."
Sensing the sourness in his tone, Meng Fuchi inexplicably felt happy, tilted his head up and kissed his cheek.
"So sour, there's no vinegar in breakfast either."
"Hmph, I'm not jealous."
Jin Chen's tone was awkward, he turned his face to the other side, "This side hasn't been kissed yet."
Meng Fuchi bit his lip to hold back laughter, cupped his face with both hands, kissed the other side, and finally left a mark on his lips.
"Satisfied?" he asked with a laughing tone.
"Barely acceptable."
Jin Chen muttered, reached out to press his hand on the back of his neck, pulling him closer, his gaze flicked over the lips, his throat tightened slightly, he lowered his eyes and kissed him.
They tossed and turned, breaths mingling.
Until his hand slipped under his shirt, into his waist, Meng Fuchi's breath hitched, his lean waist went limp, almost collapsing into Jin Chen's embrace, his whole body burning.
