Chapter 2551: Dear Detective Mr. 03
A'ersike stood at the doorway, changed into linen pajamas, the frilled collar opened to his chest, revealing smooth lines of thin muscle.
He lowered his gaze at Jin Chen, the corners of his eyes filled with arrogant light.
"Xilier, you stole my key."
Ling Gun Gun: 【???】
【Host! This is a pure setup!】
Jin Chen straightened one leg, stepped on the carpet beside the bed, looked over with a smile, his deep blue eyes filled with moonlight-like affection.
What evidence do you have?
The golden key is in your room; that's the evidence.
A'ersike lifted his chin at the key glowing in the moonlight, "You see it, right?"
Then, now you ought to prove your innocence to me—why is the key in your room? As a detective, you can do that, right?
Jin Chen let out a soft sigh, looking helpless.
"Alright, my proof is……" his fingertip twitched, the cherry pit he had just finished eating flicked out and slammed the door behind A'ersike.
A'ersike frowned, glanced behind him.
"The suspect count has doubled, Mr. A'ersike."
Jin Chen stood up, walked slowly toward A'ersike, "Now you ought to explain to me why you and the key appeared together in my room."
A'ersike raised an eyebrow at him, questioning, "At the same time?"
"After all, there's no third witness, what do you say?"
Jin Chen said, drawing near A'ersike, his palm lightly pressing against his sturdy back, gently rubbing.
"Or… you came to see me late at night just to flirt with your new subordinate."
A'ersike: "……"
He froze for a moment, then laughed, unable to tell whether it was a cold laugh or laughter from anger.
"You really gave me a good answer." A'ersike's tone was blatantly mocking.
Jin Chen turned his head, his lips lightly brushing A'ersike's cheek, his voice lowered to almost a whisper.
"I hope you're satisfied, sir."
"No, you haven't passed my……"
test.
A'ersike's arrogant, triumphant smile suddenly froze on his face.
Because he saw that Jin Chen's hand now held a key chain that had appeared out of nowhere, and… a half-damaged fallen leaf.
"Look, this is the key chain you hid in your pocket, and… a love letter brought by the evening wind."
Jin Chen's blue eyes flickered with a cunning light in the dim lighting.
A'ersike: "……"
Damn love letter.
That was a leaf he accidentally got on while unlocking downstairs.
He was astonished at Xilier's overly swift action, not even knowing when it had been taken.
A'ersike coldly pushed Jin Chen away, raised his hand to grip his jaw, "You've passed the test, detective."
"By the way, being a thief isn't a good way out."
Jin Chen flashed him a brilliant smile and kissed his palm, "Good night, Mr. A'ersike."
A'ersike jerked his hand back, gave Jin Chen a complex look, then turned and left the room.
He didn't pick up the golden key from the floor.
Jin Chen bent down to pick up that key, compared it to his own chain, and found they fit together perfectly.
"So it was a gift after all."
He chuckled softly, carefully putting away the golden key.
The next morning, Jin Chen was awakened by the loud shouting from downstairs.
A rough voice from downstairs blasted straight into the room, as if it wanted to shake the whole round house apart.
"Damn it, damn it! How is it you!"
"A'ersike! I will never work on a case with you!"
Jin Chen sat up to clear his head, rubbing his brow.
【Early in the morning, who's killing pigs.】
Ling Gun Gun whispered in his ear, 【Downstairs is Bulus Chief, and the current timeline is the fourth day of the Olga Zhuang Yuan case.】
【The Superintendents gave the answer as suicide; Earl Youjin was very dissatisfied and invited A'ersike to join in solving the case together.】
Ling Gun Gun propped his chin, 【It seems A'ersike and Bulus are old acquaintances.】
"Old acquaintances," Jin Chen clicked his tongue.
Jin Chen lazily put on his clothes and went downstairs.
He hadn't yet cleared the commotion at the doorway when Duoxi grabbed him and forced him to crouch behind the table.
Jin Chen: "......"
"Do you really like hiding here?" he asked Duoxi softly.
Duoxi waved her hand, speaking mysteriously, "Xilier, look, you can see outside from here without being noticed—how great."
Jin Chen followed her finger and looked over.
A'ersike changed into a more elegant long suit, the shirt inside perfectly outlining his physique, combining strength and beauty.
Jin Chen admired for a few moments, then turned his gaze to the other loud-voiced man, Bulus Chief.
Besides them, there was also a youth dressed as a servant, head lowered, looking like someone no one dared to provoke.
"Who is this person?" Jin Chen asked, already knowing the answer.
Duo Xi: "Officer Bruce! Oh…… you might not know, he and Alrek used to be colleagues."
Jin Chen thought, no wonder, "Was Alrek also a superintendent before?"
Duo Xi nodded, then suddenly shook her head, "Don't ask anymore; if you keep going, you'll get beaten up by the violent Alrek."
She exaggeratedly covered her own mouth.
Sure enough, the next instant, Alrek's voice sounded from behind them.
"Are you very interested in my past experiences, Cyril, Detective?"
Jin Chen rose, meeting his probing gaze, "Of course, I am very interested in you."
Sheriff Bruce, hearing this, abruptly turned his head, his two short mustaches perking up, "???"
What nonsense is this.
He sized up Jin Chen up and down, "Howl, you nasty guy, who are you."
Jin Chen slightly bowed, "Alrek's new……"
"Alright, alright, no matter who you are, I don't care."
Bruce had no interest in listening at all; with his hands behind his back, he stormed off angrily, and the door was slammed shut with a tremendous bang.
Jin Chen: "......"
He turned to Alrek, faintly resentful, "He really lacks manners."
Alrek let out a scoff, a flash of light in his green eyes, "Great, it's rare for opinions to be unanimous."
He picked up the coat draped over the chair back, "Let's go investigate together, Cyril, Detective."
Jin Chen noticed that Alrek's gaze lingered on his face a moment longer, then he took the lead toward the door.
Morning light seeped in through the door crack, giving Alrek's elegant tall figure a faint glow.
Jin Chen slightly curled the corners of his mouth and followed.
Outside the cylindrical house, the streets of Buke Gangshi had just awakened.
The sound of carriage wheels rolling over stone pavement, the cries of newspaper boys, and the distant harbor's whistle intertwined in a bustling clamor.
Alrek stood at the roadside, the carriage sent by the Earl's manor waiting for them.
He turned his head to look at Jin Chen, fine points of light flickering in his green pupils.
"Are you ready, Detective?"
Jin Chen nodded, "At your service anytime, sir."
Alrek turned his head to look at the outside street, "Call me Alrek."
The carriage door closed.
In the cramped space, Alrek's cold yet mature aura became distinct.
Jin Chen noticed Alrek's fingers unconsciously rubbing the chain of his pocket watch, a small gesture when thinking.
The carriage drove along the streets of Buke Gangshi, heading toward Olga Zhuang Yuan.
However, Alrek thought, this investigation will be very interesting.
He rubbed the pocket watch in his pocket, and for the first time he felt an anticipation for the case that went beyond professional interest.
