Chapter 2689: The Psycho City Lord's Love-and-Kill Rule 12

~6 min read 1,088 words

After that day, Yin Chaosheng had not shown his face for a full five days.

Jin Chen wasn't in a hurry either; all day he would bring the white bone skeleton and wander around the vast, gloomy City Lord's Manor.

Though called visiting, it was more like looking for trouble everywhere.

He acted entirely on his whims; when he encountered some blind ones, or ferocious ghosts whose appearance was overly offensive, if he was slightly displeased he would directly attack.

In just a few days, the news spread throughout the City Lord's Manor.

The person the City Lord recently brought back has excellent looks, and his methods are at the level of a killing god, extremely formidable; even the three Protectors who usually acted mighty under the City Lord were beaten down by him, yet the City Lord turned a deaf ear.

That day, Jin Chen felt he had roughly figured out the layout of the City Lord's Manor, and was about to take the pattering bone white white to wander farther afield when he heard a few low-rank ghost attendants whispering behind the rockery.

"Really caught him, a human, alive and brimming with vital energy!"

"Where is he?"

"East Gate! The Right Protector himself is escorting him, many big ghosts have gathered, just waiting to get a share, to suck his vital energy."

"Tsk tsk, this is a rare find..."

Jin Chen's steps halted, his pupil color flickered.

Besides the four of them, who else could be alive in Ghost City? Could it be that Chu Jiu Shan and the others met with some mishap?

His heart sank, but he showed nothing on his face; he lazily sauntered over and leaned in to those few ghost attendants.

"Tell me in detail."

Those few ghost attendants were so frightened their souls trembled; upon seeing this killing god, they fell silent like cicadas in winter, daring not to conceal anything, and stammered out the story.

Indeed a living person had mistakenly entered Ghost City, been captured by the patrolling ghost general near East Gate, and is now being detained by the Right Protector, drawing a crowd of ghosts eager to watch and salivate.

Jin Chen pondered briefly, still uneasy, gave Gu Bai Bai a look, and the two of them raced straight to East Gate.

Before even getting close, he already felt that chaotic, greedy yin energy.

On East Gate Square, layers upon layers of various ferocious ghosts were packed, each craning their necks, green light flickering in their eyes.

In the center was a young man dressed in coarse cloth, looking like an ordinary commoner; his hands were bound behind his back by a ghost general in tattered armor, his face as pale as paper, his whole body trembling like a leaf in the wind, his gaze unfocused, on the verge of fainting from fright.

Jin Chen confirmed it wasn't Chu Jiu Shan and his companions, and only then did he truly relax.

But then doubt arose: if it wasn't Chu Jiu Shan and his group, does Ghost City have another entrance, allowing a living person to wander in by mistake?

His thoughts raced; he casually snatched a rust-streaked Red Tassel Spear from the waist of a nearby ghost general who was watching with interest, hoisted it on his shoulder, and lazily strode into the tightly packed crowd.

Gu Bai Bai cleared the way for Jin Chen, its round, shiny skull bumping into ghosts with a squeaky cry, "Make way, make way!"

Ferocious ghosts knocked aside, annoyed, bared their teeth and turned; upon seeing Jin Chen, their arrogance vanished instantly, they meekly shrank back, clearing a path.

Inside the circle, the Right Protector was an extraordinarily stalwart ghost general, but only half of his head was intact; the other half seemed to have been sliced away by some blade, revealing stark bone and writhing black energy.

He basked in the ghosts' awed gazes, pondering how to deal with this rare human, when he saw Jin Chen swaggering in; his heart skipped, he instinctively covered his still-intact half of the head, and snarled with a fierce exterior but timid interior: "What are you doing here?!"

Jin Chen slammed the Red Tassel Spear on his shoulder to the ground, emitting a dull "thud."

He propped his elbow on the spear shaft, slightly lifted his chin, swept his gaze over the nearly limp human male, and said, "I want him."

The Right Protector almost couldn't catch his breath, he endured and endured, but finally couldn't hold back.

He pointed at the budding Netherworld Flower Mark on Jin Chen's brow and shouted, "You! You've been given a Ghost Seal by the City Lord; soon your soul will scatter! What do you want with this human?! Are you hoping to indulge in meat before you die?"

Upon hearing that, Jin Chen let out a surprised "yo he", gripped the Red Tassel Spear with one hand, slowly raised it, and pointed the spear tip at the Right Protector's intact half of the head.

"Right Protector, long time no see, your gall has grown quite a bit lately."

Right Protector: "……"

The Right Protector saw the cold-glinting spear tip approaching ever closer, frightened, he retreated five or six steps, nearly bumping into the ghost general behind him, his voice changing tone.

"Don't come over! Let's talk properly! What's with the grabbing and hitting?!"

Jin Chen's Red Tassel Spear stood firm like Mount Tai; as he tilted his head, his tied-up long hair fell to one shoulder, his tone lazy yet carrying an invisible pressure: "Hand it over, or not?"

Right Protector: "……"

He was so angry his ghostly energy surged, his intact half of the face twisted; yet seeing the spear that could pierce his head at any moment, and glancing at the ghosts who usually treated him with utmost respect but now were silent like cicadas, even secretly hoping for a show, he let out an unwilling low growl.

"So many brothers here are waiting for a share; even if I agreed, you… you couldn't take him away!"

Jin Chen raised an eyebrow, turned his head, and slowly swept his gaze over the tightly packed ferocious ghosts.

"Oh? Is that so?"

The ferocious ghosts his gaze fell upon, whether fang-toothed blue-faced or missing limbs, all shivered in unison, their heads shaking like rattles, and they hurriedly voiced their stance in a chorus.

"No no no!"

"Please, do as you wish!"

"We're just here to watch the fun!"

"Exactly, we don't want to eat… slurp!"
