Chapter 277: The Imperial General Was Again Forcibly Flirted With 05
Alex slept for a long time this nap.
Even at dinnertime he couldn't be woken; he slept straight through until the next day.
When he opened his eyes, he stared at the ceiling for a long time to regain his composure.
Although his body had rested last night, his spirit was truly miserable.
From childhood he had hardly ever dreamed, but last night his dream was filled with scenes from that battle: Steven and the fleeing back of the accompanying medic who dealt a finishing blow, the poisoned blades of the space pirates, and the shockwave when the mecha exploded...
But later he seemed to smell a wonderful fragrance, a distinctive scent like that of some kind of ancient Earth museum.
Accompanying the scent was an especially warm, comforting embrace.
Alex could hardly tell whether it was a dream.
He gave two soft coughs, felt his condition much improved, got up and out of bed, and upon sitting up discovered that his prison garb had been removed and replaced with a very comfortable set of home clothes.
But Alex was not comfortable at all right now.
He couldn't believe that changing clothes, such a big movement, had happened without him noticing, and he hadn't even woken up.
After sitting on the bed for a long time, he could only attribute this state to the postoperative fatigue from anesthesia.
More importantly, every cell in his body was crying out for lack of energy, needing to be replenished as soon as possible.
Alex slowly rose, trying not to strain his still-unhealed abdominal wound, attempted to open the bedroom door, and finding that he could actually open it, he was indeed surprised.
The décor before him was completely unfamiliar, unlike the coldness of his own home; this place obviously had a more lived-in feel.
Beside the sofa sat an unfinished cup of coffee, the shoe rack held neatly arranged slippers, and various mecha ornaments and files all testified to the host's personality and habits of this villa.
He took a nutrient solution from the constant-temperature cold storage and drank it without changing his expression.
Turning his head, he met Jin Chen, who peeked out from the kitchen wearing an apron.
"How did you get out of bed? Is the wound still painful?"
Alex instinctively shook his head, then felt a bit annoyed at himself for being so obedient.
"Why are you drinking this stuff?"
Jin Chen walked over and pulled the nutrient tube from his hand.
Alex frowned.
Is this person trying to humiliate me by forbidding food and drink?
Who would have thought that in the next second Jin Chen would take his hand and lead him back to sit on the living room sofa, his movements extremely gentle, saying, "I'm already making your breakfast; why are you drinking that?"
"Wait, I'll go bring it over."
Alex stared for a long time, letting himself accept the fact that this person was cooking for him.
"Hol said you still need to avoid certain foods; fortunately I have plenty at home, so I made something you can eat."
Jin Chen walked over holding a bowl of porridge and sat beside him.
"I can drink the nutrient solution."
Alex showed some resistance.
To be honest, he was afraid the porridge might contain something poisonous.
How terrifying, a Federal General is making breakfast for the former enemy general, now his prisoner.
"Open your mouth."
Jin Chen scooped a spoonful and brought it to his lips, utterly overbearing, giving him no chance to refuse.
Feeling the warmth at his lips, Alex instinctively opened his mouth, only to have it filled completely.
The taste was actually not bad.
He glanced at Jin Chen, silently sighing; though he had accepted it, after a few bites it really felt strange, so he turned his head slightly.
"I'll do it myself."
Jin Chen remained unmoving, arm extended, spoon still at his lips.
It seemed he would not rest until Alex opened his mouth and finished.
Alex: "……"
Thus he finished his first ever bowl of porridge fed to him by another.
How overbearing this person is.
Utterly unreasonable, refusing to listen to reason—does he even seem like a general? Are all soldiers from the Federation just thugs?
Alex flicked his fingers against the sofa, silently complaining.
"Alright, let's go back to the room to change your dressing."
Jin Chen looked suddenly in a good mood, picking up a tissue to wipe his mouth.
"I can do it myself." Alex refused again, this time trying to persuade Jin Chen: "The wound is on my abdomen; I can see it."
"Is that so."
Jin Chen pushed out the medicine rack, raised an eyebrow with a low chuckle, "Then you do it."
The young former general stared at the dozen or so colored medicines and ointments before him, falling into deep silence.
Jin Chen couldn't stop laughing, "What's wrong, my general? Don't you like any of the colors?"
"Shut up."
Alex, angry, closed his eyes, leaned back against the sofa, lifted his shirt—his meaning needed no words.
While applying the medicine, Jin Chen put away his joking attitude, becoming extraordinarily careful and meticulous, afraid to press too hard, breathing lightly, brows furrowed.
His seriousness made Alex almost think that perhaps it was not himself who had been hurt, but him.
Alex remained silent, observing Jin Chen carefully for the first time.
He had heard many times before about this general's formidable reputation.
The Federation President's extremely beloved adopted son, the undeniable leader of the First Legion, a war god who returned from slaughter on Hell Star, a brave soul capable of killing a hundred insectoids alone.
These are all the evaluations of Jin Chen by the various media of the Empire, and he has even been listed for ten consecutive times as the greatest threat posed by the Imperial Military Department.
But it's only hearsay; the two have never met, nor have they ever appeared on the same battlefield.
Yalikesi's impression of Jin Chen is also inevitably influenced by the outside world, leading him to think Jin Chen is a fierce, burly man.
I didn't expect it to look like this.
He is strikingly handsome, with a graceful and lofty bearing; were it not for the occasional bandit aura that bursts forth, one would never guess he is the renowned Federal General, looking more like an Imperial noble youth.
"Everyone says I'm crazy, I'm so handsome."
Jin Chen rewrapped the new bandage around him, leaning forward and smiling.
"Nonsense."
Yalikesi tilted his head, but he was again had his chin pinched and lifted by him.
"What are you thinking about?"
"I was thinking that the renowned Federal General would not be a big, burly man." Yalikesi said this with a mocking tone.
"Who would have thought that Jin Chen, upon hearing this, would still be happy, saying, 'I'm different; I've long heard that the Empire's Supreme Commander of the Five Armies, General Yalikesi, is a rare beauty.'"
"Indeed, hearing about it is no substitute for seeing it."
This remark made Yalikesi recall Jin Chen's bold words from yesterday, "I've taken a liking to you."
He felt a doubt from the heart: "You've placed me under house arrest here; is it really just for healing?"
"Of course not."
Jin Chen quickly rejected it; just as he was about to change his expression again, he lowered his head and planted a kiss on the corner of his lips.
After lingering for several seconds, he rose and gave a light laugh, "Thank you for the hospitality."
This is another purpose.
Yalikesi actually caught the hidden meaning in his words.
His mind momentarily short-circuited; he had wanted to act on instinct, but then he caught the scent coming from Jin Chen.
It was exactly the same fragrance as in last night's dream.
