Chapter 2867: Why Does My Wife Follow Me Around Every Day 28
Jin Chen carried two cups of warm water upstairs, pushed open the bedroom door, and was startled by the unexpected scene before him.
A pile of clothes bulged on the bed like a soft little hill.
At the center of that hill, a fluffy head was sunk in, and Yun Jian slept inside.
Dark brown curls were scattered over Jin Chen's clothes; he lay curled on his side, cheek pressed against Jin Chen's pajamas, nose buried in the fabric, sleeping deeply.
Jin Chen stood there for a few seconds, then walked over gently and set the water cups on the bedside table.
The slight sinking of the bed edge made Yun Jian stir; unconsciously he burrowed deeper into the clothing pile, nostrils flaring, even in his sleep he relished that scent.
Jin Chen sat down, and as his fingers touched Yun Jian's hair tips, Yun Jian groggily woke, slowly emerging from his deep dream.
He opened his eyes, his pupils somewhat unfocused in the light, then focused on Jin Chen's face.
"Jin Chen..."
Yun Jian rose to a kneeling sit, wearing only Jin Chen's white cotton T-shirt, the collar loose, the hem just covering the base of his thighs; his fair, long legs were fully exposed as he knelt on the dark sheets.
Because his body was still sunk in the soft clothing pile, his movements were a bit clumsy, but he didn't care; he reached out, wrapped his arms around Jin Chen's waist and abdomen, pressed his whole body against him, and rubbed his cheek against Jin Chen's abs.
Jin Chen's palm rested on Yun Jian's occiput, he rubbed it, his gaze sweeping over the impressive pile on the bed, and he asked, "How did it get like this?"
Yun Jian straightened his knees a bit, changed to encircling Jin Chen's neck, his whole body almost hanging on Jin Chen, cheek pressed to the neck's hollow, warm breath spraying onto the skin, a moist warmth.
"Mm..." he let out a satisfied sigh, his nose rubbing against the skin on Jin Chen's neck.
Jin Chen reached out to support Yun Jian's buttocks and back, adjusting his posture accordingly.
"Yun Jian," he said, tilting his head slightly, his lips almost touching Yun Jian's ear, he brushed aside the rebellious curls on his forehead, "Tell me, why did you pile my clothes on the bed? Hmm?"
Yun Jian shook his head, his head rubbing against his embrace, "It smells really good."
He then leaned in to kiss Jin Chen's chin, kissed the corner of his mouth, "I like this; it's all your scent…… I sleep feeling very safe."
Jin Chen turned his face, his lips lightly touching Yun Jian's cool cheek, "Hungry? It's lunchtime."
Yun Jian shook his head, his chin resting on Jin Chen's shoulder, eyes half-open, still a bit dazed.
Immediately afterward, as if recalling something, he perked up and looked at Jin Chen, "Are you hungry? You've been making coffee all morning, you must be starving, right? I'll go cook some dishes for you."
As he spoke, he tried to crawl out of the clothing pile, but Jin Chen reached out, pulled him back, pressed him into his embrace, and lowered his head to kiss his forehead.
"Today I'll handle it," Jin Chen said, "You just lie down and rest."
Yun Jian blinked, wanting to say something, but Jin Chen ruffled his hair again, so he obediently stopped struggling.
But when Jin Chen rose to go to the kitchen, he couldn't help but grab the corner of Jin Chen's shirt, looking at him pleadingly.
"I'll be back soon," Jin Chen said softly.
Only then did Yun Jian loosen his grip, retreat back into the clothing pile, and bury himself in it.
Jin Chen saw this, and his doubt grew deeper.
In the kitchen, Jin Chen washed rice and chopped vegetables while organizing his thoughts.
The gene list that the secretary from the underground venue produced, the things that so-called big boss had in his hands, and Yun Jian's instability—whether they were related to those things.
But no matter how he asked, whenever the past of the underground venue was mentioned, Yun Jian would stay silent, avoiding it completely.
Jin Chen was thinking when suddenly a warm body pressed against his back, snug with no gap.
Yun Jian had somehow followed him over, barefoot and soundlessly walking up behind him, wrapping his arms around Jin Chen's waist from behind, his face pressing against Jin Chen's back, gently rubbing.
"What's wrong?" Jin Chen asked softly.
"I miss you; I can't sleep well when you're not here," Yun Jian murmured softly, his voice sticky, "Holding you doesn't interfere with cooking, right?"
Jin Chen freed one hand, placed it over Yun Jian's hand that was wrapped around his waist, and gave it a light pat.
"Mm," he replied indulgently, "It doesn't."
Yun Jian contentedly narrowed his eyes, his nose pressing against Jin Chen's back shirt; the sandalwood scent on Jin Chen mingled with the warm aroma of food from the kitchen, making him feel utterly at ease.
He just held Jin Chen like that, watching him wash vegetables, chop them, light the fire, and stir-fry.
Yun Jian felt that if time could freeze at this moment, it would be wonderful.
Forever like this, with Jin Chen within reach, he embraced Jin Chen, and Jin Chen indulged him.
For lunch, Jin Chen prepared a light three-dish-one-soup meal: stir-fried vegetables, steamed egg, blanched shrimp, and tomato tofu soup—all easy to digest and not greasy.
He worried Yun Jian might have stomach issues, so he deliberately avoided strong flavors.
The two sat down at the table, but Yun Jian had little appetite.
He picked up his chopsticks, poked the steamed egg in the bowl, glanced at the shrimp, finally picked up just two bites of vegetables, then put down his chopsticks and looked at Jin Chen pleadingly.
"Eating so little?" Jin Chen frowned.
"Not hungry..." Yun Jian whispered, but seeing Jin Chen's disapproving gaze, he obediently picked up his chopsticks again, forced himself to eat half a bowl of rice, and drank a few sips of soup.
After finishing, he rinsed his mouth, immediately moved close to Jin Chen, slipped into his embrace, and pulled Jin Chen's hand to press against his own stomach.
"Rub it," Yun Jian said in a soft voice, "I feel uncomfortable."
Jin Chen's palm pressed onto it.
