Chapter 2933: Second Life 04
Chenshu tore open the barrier and reached the habitat.
Wen Cang followed behind him, intending to warn that this barrier was an ancient relic and rashly tearing it could cause a backlash, but before he could speak, he saw Chenshu merely raise his hand and give a light wave— the ancient seal that even he could not easily shake— cracked open.
He swallowed the rest of his words, "Fine, you're the Master God, you're stronger."
The sight inside the barrier made Wen Cang frown.
The ancient demon souls imprisoned here, stirred by something unknown, had their six souls scattering in chaos, causing the whole space to churn.
Those extreme evil forces surged in the air, tearing at each other, emitting piercing shrieks.
Chenshu's golden divine gaze swept lightly over the chaos, his expression darkening; to him, these ferocious lingering spirits were as insignificant as mayflies shaking a tree, unable to approach.
But for Jin Chen, who emerged from the innate wood spirit, the influence was too great.
Wood spirit is pure and most susceptible to corruption.
If one lingers too long… even a trace of contamination could inflict irreparable harm on the spiritual body's foundation, possibly even arousing a heart demon.
He looked around, but saw no trace of Jin Chen.
Wen Cang, "Master God, that Little Divine Lord…"
Half a cup of tea ago.
Jin Chen had only just entered when he felt something was off.
The surrounding spiritual energy was rich but chaotic, clashing with his innate wood spirit origin.
"Hiss… what place is this?"
Logically, he should turn and leave now.
But Jin Chen, being youthful at heart, paused, thought it over, then thought again.
Then he continued walking inward.
"Since I'm here, I'll just take a look and leave."
The further he went, the faster the environment changed, and the stranger it became.
Just moments ago it was a dull gray; in the blink of an eye the sky turned blood‑red, and scorched marks appeared on the ground.
Visions flickered before his eyes— countless gods and demons battling, the heavens and earth losing color, sun and moon dimmed.
Jin Chen blinked.
Those images flashed and vanished in an instant, but he had already etched those gruesome scenes into memory.
"Is this an ancient battlefield?"
Jin Chen muttered to himself, clicked his tongue, "So this is the place— just how many mighty ones have died here…"
Those evil forces grew denser, pressing on him until he could barely breathe.
Jin Chen dared not be careless; he lowered his head, pulled out the treasure bag Chenshu had given him, and fumbled to draw out items.
A small flag, a jade hairpin, a jade pendant, a string of bells, a jade pendant, another jade pendant…
He grabbed handfuls of offensive thunder‑fire pearls and ice‑soul needles, stuffing them into his sleeves; he didn't know how much Master had packed in there, but he just pulled things out and equipped whatever he took.
He hung the mystic‑light pendant for protection around his neck, fastened the tranquil‑soul bell to his wrist for calming the mind, and draped the evasion veil over himself to conceal his aura.
Once Jin Chen had finished pulling out items, his whole person was festooned with various magical treasures, jingling with every step.
He lowered his head, nodded in satisfaction, feeling his sense of safety surge, and patted his bulging chest.
"This should do."
As his words fell, a mass of black mist suddenly appeared before him.
The mist came without warning, appearing out of nowhere— "Oh no!" Jin Chen cursed inwardly, about to unleash several powerful magical treasures or use the life‑saving talisman Master had given him, when his vision went black and the world spun.
That black mist actually swallowed him whole!
Jin Chen landed hard on his buttocks.
He rubbed the sore spot, stood up, brushed off his clothes, and looked around.
This place was completely different from before, as if he were in an endless, dull gray void.
He grew alert, instinctively patting himself to confirm his treasures were still there, feeling slightly reassured; he wanted to examine closely, then heard a furious roar echoing through heaven and earth.
Jin Chen looked up and saw half the sky occupied by that black shadow— resembling both demon and god— contending against countless golden lights.
Each impact drained a third of the color from heaven and earth.
Even the aftershock alone was enough to scatter the souls of any living being who set foot here.
Jin Chen tilted his head back, gazing at that shadow, and frankly admitted it was a bit frightening.
But only a bit.
After all, in the Divine Realm these years he's seen every sort of scene— of course, most of the time he's just been watching from the sidelines.
A wave of aftershock swept toward him.
Jin Chen gasped, dodged to the side; the aftershock grazed his clothing and blasted a large crater where he had been standing.
Then everything fell silent.
Jin Chen raised an eyebrow, "Is that it?"
While he was wondering, he lowered his gaze and saw an egg.
It was about half his height, its surface bearing faint patterns; Jin Chen had never seen anything like it, and even recalling the Myriad Worlds Curiosa he'd read in Chenshu's library, there was no similar record.
He crouched and reached out to tap it.
Thump thump.
The egg gave no response.
He tapped again.
Thump thump thump.
The eggshell cracked with a snap, opening a seam.
Jin Chen: "……"
"Such a big egg," he muttered, "How can it be so fragile?"
He hadn't even had time to think what would hatch if the egg broke, or whether it would explode, when he saw something roll out of the crack.
It was a much smaller egg, only palm-sized, round and plump, rolling out of the big egg's crack with a clatter, and it happened to roll to his feet.
Jin Chen lowered his head to look at it.
The little egg also lay completely still, as if playing dead.
