Chapter 2939: Second Life 10

~7 min read 1,304 words

The East Sea's rosy light gradually faded, and a sea wind blew from the endless sea surface.

The Spirit Dragon glanced over warily, only to see the Master God sweep over lightly, making it shudder from head to tail.

Oh no, the Master God looks really angry! Hurry up and flee!

Brotherly loyalty, play promises—all step aside before the instinct to survive.

The Spirit Dragon didn't even dare look at Jin Chen again; it slapped its tail hard on the water and shot away, fleeing desperately in the direction opposite Chenshu.

This blockhead didn't even say that coming out to play today would get him caught red-handed by the Master God!

Mid-flight, it happened to bump into the Eternal Earth God who had rushed over upon hearing the news. The Spirit Dragon, as if seeing a savior, circled the suddenly halted Earth God several times, rubbing its head affectionately against his shoulder and letting out a whimper of grievance.

The Eternal Earth God shook his head helplessly, patted Lu Jun's icy dragon scales comfortingly, and also turned his gaze toward the two distant figures, his eyes full of understanding.

He brought the still-startled Spirit Dragon to a cloud island some distance from the reef where Chenshu and the others were, letting Lu Jun circle around him, flying up and down, seeking comfort.

Inside the reef cluster.

In Chenshu's pale gold eyes, Jin Chen's reflection appeared; the light between sea and sky fell within, like scattered specks of golden radiance.

"Why don't you know my return date today?"

Jin Chen tilted his head slightly, looking at Master's seemingly calm yet inexplicably awkward side profile, and suddenly let out a light laugh, carrying the smug delight of a teenager who'd found something amusing.

He stepped forward another half pace and, without a word, took hold of Chenshu's hand clasped behind his back.

"I know."

Jin Chen held his hand, gently rubbing the back of Chenshu's hand with his fingertip, and murmured, "I already knew Master would return today."

Chenshu was somewhat bewildered, wondering why he knew yet didn't wait in the divine palace, but instead was here playing with others.

The displeasure in Chenshu's brows and eyes became more obvious; he rarely showed his emotions so openly, making it easy for Jin Chen to notice.

That was an expression Master would never show in front of anyone else.

Only he could see it.

Jin Chen's smile deepened; he pulled Chenshu into his embrace, then lowered his head and pressed his warm cheek against Chenshu's cool hand.

"I've waited for you a long time."

Jin Chen's voice dropped, carrying a dampness and grievance that even the sea breeze couldn't dispel—clearly he was being coquettish, yet his grip on Chenshu's hand left no room to break free.

Chenshu raised his hand, lightly resting it on Jin Chen's lower back; after a moment, he lifted his other hand, pinched Jin Chen's cheek, and slowly rubbed his fingertip across the face that had lost its youthful immaturity, from cheekbone to jaw, stopping at the corner of the mouth.

"I've waited for you a long time too."

Jin Chen instinctively hummed, "What?"

Was he blaming him for coming out to play, so that returning to the divine palace would be in vain?

Chenshu, however, offered no explanation, gently pressing his forehead against Jin Chen's shoulder, burying his face in the side of Jin Chen's neck, his breath warm and long as it brushed that skin: "I'm a bit tired."

Jin Chen's words, ready to continue his complaint, died in his throat, instantly turning into a deep ache.

He tightened his arms, one hand encircling Chenshu's slender, supple waist, the other lifting to stroke Chenshu's back, filled with pity.

The sea wind also grew gentle, lightly stirring their hair and robes.

Chenshu leaned quietly into Jin Chen's embrace, eyes closed, waited a few breaths, then suddenly shifted.

He slightly lifted his head, doubt appearing in his cold, clear eyes.

"Why aren't you kissing me?"

Jin Chen froze for a moment, then a smile welled up from his eyes.

He of course wanted to kiss.

He wanted to kiss every single day, ever since Master left on the first day—thinking of it made his chest burn, kept him awake at night, made him hug Ling Gun Gun and spin in circles in the yard, made him only able to burn off those restless thoughts by sparring with the Spirit Dragon.

"How could I not want to?" Jin Chen's voice grew hoarse as his lips lightly landed on Chenshu's crown.

He kissed the forehead, then the brow bone; there was a mark there, and each time he kissed it, his heart felt inexplicably soft.

He kissed the eyelids, lashes brushing his lips, ticklish; finally landing on the lips was a very gentle kiss, feeling each other's warmth and pouring all the love and desire that was about to ignite into one another.

Chenshu relaxed, tilting his head back slightly, yielding to Jin Chen's taking.

The sea wind grew ever gentler, rolling water vapor over the entwined pair deep in their kiss, as if even heaven and earth held their breath for this moment.

After who knows how long, Jin Chen reluctantly pulled back just a little, foreheads touching, lips both stained with a moist sheen; Chenshu's eyes also filled with a moving mist, adding a poignant, alluring hue.

Jin Chen cupped Chenshu's face, his thumb lightly rubbing the slightly red corners of his eyes, his gaze blazing like blue flame.

"Master, I still have much to say to you."

Chenshu was slightly taken aback by his sudden solemnity, the haze in his eyes fading as he nodded, "Mm, go ahead."

It seemed as if, no matter what Jin Chen would say next, he would listen attentively, treating it with solemnity.

Jin Chen suddenly felt an itch in his heart, lowered his head, and lightly brushed his lips against Chenshu's eyes.

Warm breath fell on his lashes, ticklish; Chenshu instinctively closed his eyes, leaning further into Jin Chen's embrace, also savoring this unique intimacy.

"All right, stop being coy—what is it?" Chenshu asked, eyes closed, voice low.

"You know me, Master."

Jin Chen said, "I want to form a divine contract with you, a union of souls where we share life and death as divine partners."

"I love you, I love you so much—more than I love mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas; more than I love the sun, moon, and stars; more than I love all things in this world, added together it would still be greater and deeper."

"I don't know how to do this; holding you and kissing you is nice, but… it still feels insufficient."

Chenshu: "……"

He quietly watched Jin Chen's earnest brows and eyes, seeing the helpless worry hidden in his depths, and felt a bit resigned, yet also amused.

Even this blockhead has a rebellious adolescence.

After a while, Chenshu raised his hand and poked Jin Chen's brow.

"You're so dense."

Chenshu's voice carried a smile, clear and pleasant, dispelling much of Jin Chen's panic: "Do I have to teach you this too?"

"This doesn't need the Master to teach!" Jin Chen spoke with righteous confidence, "I've already finished reading the forbidden section of the Scripture Pavilion; I'm just waiting for the Master to return."

Otherwise, what has he been doing all these days, staying indoors all day?

Chenshu: "……"

Seeing the Master's rare embarrassed appearance, Jin Chen's anxiety also faded, leaving no chance for Chenshu to confront him.

"The Master is tired; let's go home."

Jin Chen held the seemingly resigned Chenshu in his arms; clear light flowed beneath his feet, and with a single step he stepped out, already vanishing amidst the sparkling waves and dimming twilight of the East Sea, leaving only a gentle sea breeze.
