Chapter 3: Saving the Autistic Boy 03
The car stopped steadily; Jin Chen saw Ji Yan's pale complexion and softly comforted him.
"If you don't want to go in, just wait in the car; I'll come back after I get the relic."
He originally hadn't planned to have lunch at the Ji Family.
"No……"
Ji Yan shook his head; he needed to personally take his mother's relic to feel at ease.
Seeing the boy's intention, Jin Chen got out of the car first and extended his hand.
"Then come down."
Ji Yan's gaze moved from those distinct, slender fingers to Jin Chen's face, and an inexplicable sense of safety welled up in his heart.
His fingertips rested on the man's hand, and he finally mustered the courage to get out of the car.
Ji Yu saw this scene, his expression changed again, and he entered the Ji Family's main gate ahead of them.
Ji Weixue and Chen Jiang were drinking tea when they saw Ji Yu storm in angrily; the two puzzledly put down their teacups.
"What's going on?" Ji Weixue asked.
But he stubbornly said nothing, instead he flung himself into Chen Jiang's arms, softly sobbing, looking utterly wronged.
Chen Jiang instantly felt heartbroken; he cupped Ji Yu's face and asked, "What's wrong, Xiao Yu? You weren't just at the Jin Family, were you? Did Jin Chen bully you?"
Ji Yu still didn't speak, but he nodded, crying sadly.
Chen Jiang flared up, "I knew Jin Chen was no good! He even bullies you, yet he still has the nerve to say he likes you!"
Ji Weixue didn't join in the cursing; he knew full well that the Jin Family and they were not on the same level—letting the juniors vent a bit was fine, but he couldn't be foolish.
"Don't be sad, how did he bully you? I—"
"What are you? Want to get revenge for him?"
Chen Jiang hadn't finished speaking when a voice cut him off.
He looked toward the newcomer.
Jin Chen led Ji Yan through the door, and naturally he also heard Chen Jiang's bold words.
"Does your father know you're so willing to risk everything for love?"
His tone remained cold and deep, without emotion as he glanced at Chen Jiang.
Upon hearing that, Chen Jiang's expression flustered for a moment; he hadn't forgotten that his family had a major cooperation with Jin Chen.
He rose angrily, "Would you scrap a major cooperation over just a few words? I think you're angry because Xiao Yu ultimately chose me, aren't you?"
"Major cooperation?"
Jin Chen sneered, "Isn't that just my unilateral investment?"
Ji Yu stood up sniffling, took Chen Jiang's hand, and said, "Brother Jiang… don't be angry, it's not because of Brother Chen; Brother Chen didn't bully me."
With his other hand he grabbed Jin Chen's sleeve, "Brother Chen, please don't act on impulse, okay…"
Ji Yan stood behind Jin Chen, watching Ji Yu's hand, a flicker of annoyance and displeasure crossing his eyes.
Jin Chen also didn't catch Ji Yu's sniffling words, and impatiently shook him off.
"What are you chirping about?"
Ji Weixue felt a sudden jolt in his heart.
Could it be that Jin Chen doesn't like Xiao Yu anymore?
That's not a good thing.
He laughed and said, "Stop arguing, stop arguing, President Jin, please have a seat."
From the moment the two entered until now, Ji Weixue hasn't glanced at Ji Yan once, as if he didn't exist.
Jin Chen had no intention of communicating further with these people; he spoke coldly.
No need, go get the relic and give it to Ji Yan right now.
Ji Weixue hadn't expected that Jin Chen would now deny him face, yet be helpless; he glanced at Ji Yan.
He never realized before that this foolish, idiotic eldest son was actually quite good at winning people's hearts; after just a few days at the Jin Family, he had snatched Jin Chen's heart away from Ji Yu.
It's just a pity that ever since that woman died, he's become estranged from himself.
Ji Weixue's calculating gaze made Ji Yan feel very uncomfortable; he pressed his lips and shook the hand holding Jin Chen's.
"Is President Ji hard of hearing due to age, or is there simply no relic at all?"
Jin Chen understood and urged again.
"Yes, of course there is. Xiao Yan, come, Father will take you up to get it."
Ji Weixue waved at Ji Yan, putting on a full show of being a loving father in front of outsiders.
The lure of the relic was too great; Ji Yan didn't have the mind to think further, and when he let go of Jin Chen's hand, he followed Ji Weixue upstairs.
Only then did Jin Chen sit on the sofa, fingering the agarwood bracelet, its color warm and lustrous.
0731 keenly sensed that this was different from the original host's bracelet.
【Host, your bracelet seems somewhat different from the original host's; where did you get it?】
【Is that so? You guess.】
【……】It didn't dare to guess; fate only has one path.
Anyway, if it's not from this world, then it's right! Otherwise, how could spiritual power be overflowing!
Ji Yu and Chen Jiang were already being openly intimate, almost to the point of kissing right there; Chen Jiang acted provocatively, occasionally glaring at Jin Chen.
Jin Chen: ……
What on earth is wrong with these two?
He didn't want to watch the scene live; just as he was about to get up and leave the living room, he saw Ji Yu whisper something into Chen Jiang's ear, then stand up and face him.
Brother Chen, I'll go upstairs to help Brother tidy up.
His voice was sickly sweet, and without waiting for Jin Chen to speak, he hurried upstairs.
【Host, would Little Pitiful One be in danger alone upstairs? In the original plot, Ji Yu scattered everything on the floor, making him kneel to pick it up.】
【Adjust the surveillance footage for me.】
Jin Chen didn't explain much either; he still needed to test what Ji Yan's bottom line was—hiding a knife under his pillow, would he really just let himself be bullied?
He looked like he was resting with his eyes closed, but in fact he was watching the corridor surveillance in his mind.
Chen Jiang thought he had already shown no respect to this extent, feeling both humiliated and angry, secretly thinking that one day when he steps on Jin Chen's head, he will definitely make him kneel and apologize.
Second floor bedroom.
Ji Yan stood at the doorway, not entering, just looking at Ji Weixue.
The childhood nightmare-like memory is hard to erase, and he still fears staying in the same house with him.
Ji Weixue let out an ambiguous laugh twice.
"Your mother's keepsakes were, during the maid's thorough cleaning two days ago, the jewelry and some trinkets found in the cabinet, all placed in that box; go get it yourself."
Ji Yan poked his head inside.
Sure enough there was a box; his eyes lit up, full of anticipation he walked in, and even his fear of Ji Weixue lessened considerably.
"Stop!"
Ji Yu quickly ran in, beat him to it, hugging the box to his chest, glaring at Ji Yan.
"Little Yu, Jin Chen is still downstairs." Ji Weixue used to be able to pretend not to see, but now he can't: "What if he tells on Jin Chen?"
"Dad, don't worry, I'll just warn him." Ji Yu chuckled.
Ji Weixue also didn't obstruct much, turned and left to answer the company's call.
Ji Yu looked at the silent Ji Yan.
"You idiot, it's all your fault; now Brother Chen ignores me, are you happy?"
Ji Yan is not like before, enduring silently; instead he softly retorted.
"You have Chen Jiang..."
I don't know why, but someone I didn't care about the day before yesterday can now easily affect his mood.
