Chapter 3013: Stubbornly Tamed 30
Yucheng Port's security today is several times stricter than usual.
From the port entrance to the pier, every few dozen meters along this stretch, staff in black uniforms stand with walkie-talkies on their shoulders and earpieces in their ears. Private cars arrive one after another, and everyone getting out is a familiar face—at least among Yucheng's upper circles, they're all familiar faces.
A huge white luxury cruise ship is docked at Yucheng Port's most expensive private berth; the ship's pristine white paint reflects dazzling light, and on its several decks, silhouettes of moving people and the faint sound of uplifting music can be vaguely seen.
When Jin Chen's motorcade arrived, it attracted a fair amount of attention.
The man is tall and slender, with a stern expression; as soon as he steps out of the car, the powerful aura of someone long accustomed to high position naturally emanates. The boy following behind him, whom Jin Chen is leading by the hand, also draws plenty of attentive gazes.
At the end of the gangway, on the main deck, Host Xie Chang had already gathered people there to greet guests.
Xie Chang is in excellent condition, his hair white but neatly combed, wearing a finely crafted Tang suit, leaning on a purple sandalwood dragon-headed cane, his face full of smiles, looking like a kind elder.
Standing beside Xie Chang is a man in his early sixties wearing a dark blue Zhongshan suit.
Chen Gai whispered to Chenshu beside him, "Xie Wuye, Xie Chang, is today's host. The man next to him is Peng Wenqiang, head of the Peng family. The Peng family may not be as ostentatious as the Xie family, but their strength is not lacking; they have deep roots in Yucheng. He and Xie Chang have been old friends for decades, so he's definitely here to show support for this kind of event."
Chenshu nodded, committing this information to memory.
When Jin Chen stepped onto the deck, Xie Chang's smile deepened a bit, and he proactively extended his hand.
"President Jin! Hahaha, your esteemed presence graces our humble abode!" Upon seeing Jin Chen, Xie Chang immediately laughed, stepped forward two paces, extended his hand, and spoke warmly.
Jin Chen also extended his hand, shook his, his face showing no extra expression, but his formal words were flawless: "Thank you for your courtesy, Sir. As a junior, I ought to attend your gathering."
Xie Chang gripped Jin Chen's hand, his smile affable yet his grip firm; he sized up Jin Chen, then glanced at the intimately close Chenshu beside him, saying, "President Jin, honoring me with your presence gives this old man considerable face—this person is……
"Chenshu." Jin Chen replied briefly, naturally slipping his arm around Chenshu's shoulders and pulling him closer—his meaning needed no words.
"Oh, so you're Mr. Chenshu—truly a person of outstanding talent, a perfect match with President Jin… ah, well‑matched, well‑matched!" Xie Chang went along with it, immediately laughing and praising.
Peng Wenqiang also gave Jin Chen a slight nod, saying nothing—considering it a greeting.
After the pleasantries, Xie Chang personally led Jin Chen and his party toward the main banquet hall.
Jin Chen walked with Chenshu at a leisurely pace, occasionally nodding to familiar or unfamiliar guests passing by.
Chenshu narrowed his eyes slightly, feeling the sea breeze; his gaze swept quickly over the bright and dark corners of the deck, and he soon spotted Pite carrying a tray, weaving through the guests to serve. Pite also saw him, their eyes met for a moment, then they each went about their business as if nothing had happened.
Chenshu withdrew his gaze and followed Jin Chen into the cabin.
Inside, the cabin was laid out like a banquet hall; Jin Chen took his seat at the main table, and Chenshu naturally sat beside him, close enough that their arms touched.
After the waiter poured the tea and left, Chenshu leaned close to Jin Chen's ear, his voice low but his tone betraying amusement and curiosity: "You brought Zhou Chengzi along too—you're surely planning something."
Jin Chen could keep Zhou Chengzi, a genuine turncoat, by his side for this long—maybe he's been waiting for today.
Jin Chen lifted his teacup, took a sip, and gave no clear answer.
Chenshu kissed his earlobe, his lips brushing softly against his skin, then picked up the fruit fork on the table, speared a piece of peeled orange, and brought it to Jin Chen's lips.
"If something happens here, will it affect our family's business?" Chenshu said, intrigued.
After Jin Chen finished the orange slice, he pressed his fingertip against his lower lip.
"Go ahead and do it."
"I'll be very obedient."
Chenshu obediently opened his mouth, took in Jin Chen's finger still resting at his lip, flicked his tongue over it then released it, smiling innocently and sweetly.
This time boarding the ship, each had their own schemes—Jin Chen had his own game to play, and he had his own things to do, but Chenshu felt no fear at all.
——
After lunch, they went into a side room to rest; Jin Chen and the others had matters to discuss, so several people gathered around the coffee table. Chenshu waited a while, then took the opportunity to say he wanted to go to the balcony to view the sea. Jin Chen glanced at him, nodded, and didn't ask further.
The balcony was at the end of the corridor; Chenshu leaned on the railing, gazing at the sea, the sea breeze blowing his shirt against his body.
After a moment, faint footsteps sounded from behind.
Pite looked left and right, confirmed no one else was around, then quickly walked up to Chenshu.
"Si Qian is indeed an invited guest as well; today he plainly has six bodyguards at his side—I can tell they're not just for show." Pite spoke quickly, pouring him a drink as he said, "He often unconsciously touches the left inner pocket of his suit; the frequency is high, so whatever he's carrying must be there."
Chenshu nodded, his gaze still on the sea: "Tonight we won't act. First we need to find out where he's staying tonight, and whether, aside from his bodyguards, he's in close contact with anyone from the Xie family or other factions."
Pite grunted, then asked, "Your… husband, does he know you're going to make a move?"
Chenshu turned his head, glanced at Pite, and nodded bluntly: "I know."
Pite was speechless for a moment.
You two really hold nothing back!
"Alright, I'll head back now—being out too long will draw attention."
——
In the evening, the grand welcome banquet was held in the main banquet hall.
Guests took their seats according to the prearranged plan; perfume and elegant attire mingled, glasses clinked—a scene of lavish splendor.
Jin Chen brought Chenshu to sit at the main table, alongside Xie Chang, Peng Wenqiang, and several senior representatives of Yucheng's prominent families.
Si Qian also sat at the same table, though a bit farther away; Xie Chang introduced him, saying he was an important recent partner who had come from Southeast Asia and intended to expand his business in Yucheng.
Si Qian met Chenshu's gaze and gave a slight nod.
Chenshu gave a polite smile, then withdrew his gaze, turned sideways, and whispered to Jin Chen.
