Chapter 3032: Under the Crimson Addiction 08

~6 min read 1,172 words

Saiyin wanted to pick up the whip; he didn't need to strike many times, just a little of his magic would be enough to make any human suffer terribly.

This morning he already broke one; that so-called Holy Knight was too proud and eventually begged for mercy.

Saiyin's blood-red pupils turned cold; he raised his finger and snapped, the black long whip hanging in the corner flew from its rack into his palm, the handle wrapped in dark red leather, the tip inlaid with a dark red gem; a thread of his magic infused, this whip could make even the toughest flesh split open……

The next second, Saiyin's hand was empty.

Saiyin stared for a moment, then looked up.

His disciplinary whip was taken by Jin Chen, who even curiously ran his fingers along the shaft, then frowned slightly, feeling the grip was poor, and casually held it.

Saiyin: "……"

Saiyin was furious, trying to snatch the whip back; Jin Chen seized his wrist, pulled, unfurled the long whip, wrapped it twice around both of Saiyin's wrists, and threaded the tip through the buckle, forming a tight knot.

In an instant, Saiyin's pale, slender wrists were bound together by his own long whip.

The arrogant count lifted his head to glare at Jin Chen, annoyed and embarrassed, making his cold handsome face look even more vivid.

"Damned mixed-blood, do you have a death wish?"

Jin Chen wasn't intimidated by his ferocious tone; he lightly stroked the marks left by the rough whip on Saiyin's wrist with his fingertip, Saiyin's wrist twitched involuntarily, the itch spread from his wrist, making his body, which had just calmed, tremble again.

"My lord, your temper is terrible; you drank my blood and still want to whip me… where's the justice in that?"

Saiyin narrowed his eyes; the hint of crimson at the corners looked especially lurid in the candlelight: "Wretched servant, I will drain your blood, lock you in the deepest underground cell, and let magic worms gnaw your bones."

As he spoke, his expression contradicted his words, showing weariness.

For centuries, eternal wakefulness, hunger, and cruelty have composed Saiyin's endless night. The desire never satisfied had just been partially fulfilled, enough to make Saiyin feel a near-happy lassitude.

Jin Chen's fingertip, stained with a trace of blood, lightly brushed over Saiyin's brow and landed on his lip.

The blood was so sweet that Saiyin's brain couldn't keep up; his body reacted first, slightly opening his mouth to take the fingertip, his tongue rolling away that drop of blood.

Jin Chen raised an eyebrow slightly, letting him lick; as Saiyin held his fingertip between his teeth, unsatisfied with just that trace of blood and trying to bite through the skin to draw more, Jin Chen wrapped his other hand around Saiyin's chest.

Saiyin·Sitelande, lord of Eternal Night Castle and chief of the Seven Great Counts, famed for his cruelty and strength, fell asleep unprepared in Jin Chen's arms.

Jin Chen supported him, lowered his head to look at the finger he had just enchanted, then at the sleeping count in his arms.

"Looks like… it still works." He murmured to himself.

He watched Saiyin's slightly parted lips; the pair of sharp fangs had not retracted, exposing a dangerous tip.

Jin Chen gently pried open Saiyin's pallid, bloodless cheek, letting his mouth open wider, then curiously touched the sharp teeth again.

He withdrew his hand, glanced around the luxurious yet oppressive hall, single-handedly holding the sleeping count who posed no threat, casually summoned a mirror, Jin Chen held it up, slightly opened his lips, and pressed his tongue tip against a tooth.

In the mirror, his canine tooth, originally no different from a human's, slowly elongated at visible speed, becoming sharp, finally turning into a pair of fangs identical to Saiyin's.

The emergence of the fangs did not mar the mirror image's perfection; instead it added a hint of mysterious, exotic, dangerous allure, like a poisonous blossom opening under the moon, yet no one noticed—not even Saiyin, asleep in his arms, whose eyes remained shut.

He was now a step closer to discovering his identity; Jin Chen gazed thoughtfully at the mirror for a moment, then retracted the fangs, turned away from the mirror, and looked at the sleeping Saiyin in his embrace.

Jin Chen pinched Saiyin's sleeping handsome cheek, pressing the cold white skin slightly inward.

"Bad-tempered count, you look much better behaved when asleep."

Jin Chen stood, lifted the count in a horizontal hold, bare feet on the soft carpet, and walked toward the side hall's half-open carved door.

To Jin Chen's surprise, this bedroom was not as extravagantly luxurious as the outer hall; it even seemed somewhat secluded.

Outside the window lay eternal night, casting blurred, variegated light and shadow inside.

This could hardly be called the castle's most comfortable, luxurious spot; it even fell short of some guest rooms. As the bedroom of Eternal Night Castle's lord, it was overly austere, even hinting at deliberate seclusion.

As Jin Chen entered the room, this thought came to him unbidden.

But he was more concerned with properly settling the sleeping beauty ghost in his arms, then perhaps going back to catch some sleep.

Saiyin lay sunk in the deep crimson bedding, his bound hands resting at his sides; Jin Chen thought, undid the black whip binding his wrists, and tossed it casually to the foot of the bed.

Jin Chen rose, glanced around, and was drawn to an object hanging from the top of the bed canopy.

A gemstone strung on a silver chain hung at the center of the bed canopy, gathering the faint light filtering through the stained‑glass window and scattering soft, star‑like specks within the drapes.

Jin Chen curiously poked it with a finger; the gemstone swayed slightly, the light spots shifted, nothing special.

He glanced around the bedroom again, feeling an inexplicable… sense of dissonance, but he was too lazy to investigate.

Although I don't know why, just as Saiyin was about to drink his blood, Ling Gun Gun vanished; but now this should count as having fulfilled his duty serving the count, and Jin Chen prepares to go back and get more sleep.

He walked to the bedroom's heavy door, grasped the handle and gave a gentle pull…… the door didn't budge.

Jin Chen stared, then tried pushing in, pulling out, shaking the handle up and down; this door, appearing to have no enchantment, wouldn't move no matter how he manipulated it.

Jin Chen: "?"

He released his grip, stepped back, slightly narrowed his azure eyes to inspect the door, and grew a bit angry.

He wanted to tear the door apart.

Jin Chen took a deep breath, exhaled slowly, and decided to let it be.

The bad‑tempered count was still asleep; he didn't want to tear the door down, make a loud noise, risk waking the count who had finally quieted down, and possibly get bitten again.

Jin Chen helplessly shook his head and walked back to the bedside.
