Chapter 3081: After Divorce, Forced to Compete with My Ex-Husband 11

~6 min read 1,037 words

Jin Chen propped himself on the railing with one hand, nimbly flipped over, stepped on the uneven reef and walked toward that direction; after a few steps he stopped again, turned his head and glanced at Steve, who was crouched behind the reef studying something.

"Steve."

Steve raised his head, saw Jin Chen standing on the sand leading to the shore, one hand in his pocket, the other waving at him.

"What's up!" Steve tossed the seashell aside, brushed off the sand on his hands, strode over, and before he could steady himself, Jin Chen led him toward the plot point.

Since we're testing, we might as well bring everyone who should appear to their correct positions early, to see how this scene will play out.

As expected, the plot point was triggered early.

【Please, task completer, cooperate with the enactment, plot proceeds as follows……】

Jin Chen frowned and flipped down; this paragraph of the plot is written terribly and long, Chi Mu's injury process is described in two full paragraphs, from 'the shin was cut by the sharp edge of the reef' to 'blood flowed down the fragile shin', then to Yan Xu 'his eyes reddened with concern' bandaging him, Mai Lun 'furiously' blaming Yun Wu, and Steve 'volunteering' to go scout the path……

In short, this long-winded plot has only one point: that stone cave.

Jin Chen flipped back a page and saw the content he needed to cooperate with in the enactment.

Jin Chen fell silent for two seconds, then lowered his head to look at the calm sea beneath his feet.

He's not a vegetable; how could he stand on this reef and not feel the strange beast striking below?

Jin Chen didn't immediately go to the designated reef; instead, he leisurely circled the nearby reefs, while the preceding plot proceeded step by step, having already reached the point where Steve said he would go check out that stone cave.

Chenshu had been examining the cracks in the cliff wall; hearing the movement, he turned his head, his gaze sweeping over the crowd and searching the reef cluster, where he spotted Jin Chen's figure, saw him squatting behind the reef, using his fingers to play with the moss growing in the stone crevice, looking very leisurely.

After confirming he was fine, Chenshu then followed Steve toward the stone cave.

Jin Chen watched their backs disappear around the reef corner with his peripheral vision, then stood up, brushed off the dust on his hands, and climbed onto the reef tip designated by the plot as the accident site, its tip suspended about two meters above the sea, affording a view of the distant horizon where pink mist rose.

The sea breeze blew in; the distant pink mist slowly rolled on the sea surface. Jin Chen stood on the reef tip, appearing to admire the scenery, and soon heard footsteps behind him.

Just as Chi Mu entered the area about five meters behind him, the reef beneath Jin Chen shuddered violently; a tremendous force from the seabed slammed into the reef's base, his body jolted, the rock surface cracked, a few chunks broke off the edge and fell into the sea, splashing white spray.

Jin Chen: "……!?" The heartthrob is actually a strange beast summoner!

Jin Chen steadied his balance in the sway, lowered his gaze to the sea below; clear water revealed a dark shadow drifting slowly, its size at least that of his whole person.

Chi Mu, this person, is no small problem.

Jin Chen rarely felt interested.

This feeling was like playing a game whose walkthrough had been fully figured out, when suddenly encountering a boss monster outside the setting, whose behavior logic is unpredictable; the long-lost freshness made his lips curl and his interest overflow.

Jin Chen seemed unaware of the disturbance beneath his feet, merely shifting his stance; the fissures on the reef tip kept expanding under the continual impact, and just as that reef was about to break completely, Chi Mu lunged at him from the side.

"Brother Chen, watch out!"

A fish‑monster strange beast larger than a person burst out of the water at the same moment, opening its giant maw full of sharp teeth and lunging toward the reef tip.

Chi Mu grabbed Jin Chen's arm and pulled him hard toward himself; Jin Chen went with the motion, released his hand, and used that force to retreat a few steps toward the shore, his shoes scraping twice on the wet reef before finally stepping onto dry sand.

The whole incident lasted only a few seconds, but because of the angle at which Chi Mu lunged and Jin Chen's recently changed stance, viewed from different angles it presented completely different effects.

One could say Chi Mu timely reached out and pulled Jin Chen back from danger, or that Jin Chen originally had a chance to jump back to shore, but Chi Mu intercepted him midway, instead almost losing balance from that force and toppling toward the reef's edge, nearly colliding with the adjacent reef's corner.

: Holy shit, Chi Mu's brave flower is so courageous!! He literally lunged forward to save someone!!

: I feel like Jin Chen's stance just now obviously allowed him to jump back himself?

: Exactly! Jin Chen had already exerted force with his feet; that pull from Chi Mu actually threw his balance off.

: What do you mean? Mu Mu risked his life to save someone and you still question him?

: Not questioning, but from an onlooker's perspective it really does look a bit strange……

: I watched the slow‑motion replay over and over; Jin Chen was preparing to jump onto that large reef on the left, while Chi Mu rushed from the right to pull him—was he trying to push Jin Chen into the sea??

: You people are just jealous of Mu Mu! Mu Mu saved someone and you still malignly interpret it!

: And I just want to say, commander, hurry up!!!

When the barrage was arguing heatedly, Chi Mu also realized something was off.

He pulled Jin Chen back to the shore, stood firm, then let go of his hand and anxiously looked at Jin Chen's reaction.
