Chapter 3109: After the divorce, I was forced to compete with my ex-husband for 40
Chenshu had slept for a long time; when Chenshu went downstairs, Chenshu met Steve in the hallway.
Steve simply told him about last night's situation; Jin Chen temporarily changed his plan and also gave the Star Network a three-day bet.
He is now in the basement, interrogating together with Jeffrey that person from the Gray Realm.
Chenshu politely declined the breakfast Yun Wu had left for him, casually ate some dry rations, then went downstairs to the basement.
The door to the innermost room was ajar; Chenshu pushed it open and saw the scene he had anticipated.
Baro was tied to a metal chair in the center of the room, his whole body covered in blood, his left eye swollen almost shut, his lips split, blood dripping down his chin, several fingers bent at unnatural angles, obviously broken.
Jin Chen stood by the window, one hand propped on the windowsill, the other hanging at his side, fingertips hooked around a long whip whose tip trailed on the floor, stained with dark red blood; his bangs hung low, slightly shading his brows and eyes, his expression somewhat calm, making his exact mood hard to read.
Jeffrey and his few lackeys stood in the corner of the room, their gazes toward Jin Chen growing admiring. They usually just beat people up at the slightest disagreement, never knowing so many tormenting methods; today they were truly eye-opened.
Hearing the door open, Jin Chen turned his head and saw Chenshu; his eyes became moist and clear, and he simply narrowed his eyes at Chenshu, making one feel a softening in the chest, as if a big lump had been stuffed into his breast, puffing up sweetly at Chenshu's heart.
"You all go out first," Jin Chen said to Jeffrey.
"Eh." Jeffrey looked back and forth, gestured for his lackeys to leave, then invited Chenshu inside.
Chenshu walked over, gently brushed the bangs from Jin Chen's forehead, lowered his head to kiss his nose tip, then kissed his lips; Jin Chen opened his mouth and shared a lingering kiss with him, then tightened his arms around Chenshu's neck, pressing his chin against his shoulder, saying, "You're going too far—I hadn't planned to show you that cabin space yet."
Chenshu's heart felt full and swollen; he whispered hoarsely and tenderly into Jin Chen's ear, "Bao Bao, I love you so much."
Jin Chen stayed quiet against his shoulder for a moment, then let out a soft hum, "As it should be."
Chenshu asked again, his lips almost touching Jin Chen's ear, "Then when were you originally planning to let me see it?"
Jin Chen lifted his gaze to him, his eyes somewhat mischievous, "After we remarry."
"You still don't have a proper name or status."
Chenshu let out a soft sigh, his lips pressing to Jin Chen's earlobe, lightly sucking before releasing, then lingeringly kissing Jin Chen's jaw, gently biting his lower lip, rubbing the soft flesh between his teeth, kissing Jin Chen until he felt a bit fuzzy, before straightening his gaze into his eyes and saying, "Once we settle things here, let's remarry, okay?"
Jin Chen slapped his hand away, then turned his face to the other side, refusing to look at him, "Let's talk about it later."
Baro, tied to the chair, regained consciousness amid his daze.
He spat out a mouthful of blood, lifted his head, and with the eye that could still open watched the scene before him; after a few seconds he recognized the tall, straight-backed figure, then grinned, revealing a smile stained red with blood.
"An Imperial General…… is nothing more than a toy someone has played with; you're now tainted goods, an unwanted auction item……"
He hadn't finished speaking when the whip came down.
Jin Chen's wrist twitched; the laser long whip lashed Baro's face, running from the brow ridge diagonally to the jaw, the electric current burning a wound deep enough to expose bone.
Baro let out an anguished scream, his eyes bloodshot, his whole body thrashing violently in the chair.
Jin Chen stared straight at Chenshu, confirming that Chenshu hadn't been affected by those words, then relaxed a little, saying, "I prepared a holographic game for Chi Mu; I want to try it on him first to see the effect."
Thus Baro was forced to apply the full-sense patch.
His consciousness was dragged within seconds into an endless slaughter world, where he is forever being hunted, forever fleeing, forever revived at the brink of death, then restarting another round of the hunt; each death feels utterly real, all precisely transmitted to his nervous system via the full-sense patch.
Whenever he dies in the game, his consciousness briefly returns to reality, but before he can even catch a breath, he is dragged once more into that hell.
Jin Chen and Chenshu returned to the upstairs restaurant to rest.
Jeffrey hurried over from the other end of the hallway, his expression somewhat strange, as if he had seen something unbelievable.
He approached Jin Chen, lowered his voice, and said, "Chi Mu, who was locked in the basement, has disappeared! The door lock shows no signs of being broken, and the guards heard nothing."
Yun Wu and Steve came out of the kitchen; Yun Wu's apron was still on, he still held a spatula in his hand, while Steve followed behind holding a half-plate of food, their gazes both falling on Jin Chen at the same time, as if waiting for him to say something.
Jin Chen raised his hand, gesturing that they needn't rush.
He rose from leaning half in Chenshu's embrace to sit upright, pulled a palm-sized tracking display from his spatial backpack; the screen lit up, showing several data modules.
Jin Chen propped his chin and looked at the data on the screen, "I planted an electronic trash on him."
Chenshu frowned and said, "I also tried before to monitor and locate him, but couldn't pick up anything."
Jin Chen answered without lifting his head, "Because I'm just better."
Chenshu looked at his matter-of-fact expression, couldn't help but chuckle lightly, and didn't rebut.
Jin Chen's fingers slid across the screen a few times, enlarging a detailed view of an area. Watching the moving dot, he lifted his eyes and smiled, "Let me see…… ah, the popular guy ran to the Iron Tower."
He put down the tracking display, flexed his wrist, and said cheerfully, "I'm going to thank him for helping us find another Star Core."
The Star Core is an important bargaining chip in their current negotiations with those Imperial politicians; finding one more means gaining an extra lever of initiative.
As for how to thank him…… Jin Chen slipped his fingertips into Chenshu's finger gaps, rubbing and playing with them, lowering his eyes idly, his gaze taking on a hint of coolness.
Why not try to see whether a destroyed human body can be completely soaked in nutrient solution?
He seriously considered the feasibility of this plan, eager to try it, and thus laughed, "Uncle Chenshu, let's go pay a visit to the Iron Tower."
