Chapter 3133: My Wife and I Enacting Daily Life 18
The lovemaking in the bridal chamber finally ceased.
Jin Chen lay on his side beside Chenshu, looking at his face flushed with wine and desire, his eyes slightly closed with fatigue, his palm resting on the curve of his spine and slowly moving downward.
Jin Chen thought that after he fell asleep he would go out to check the battle situation outside; that corpse spirit was no pushover, and although he had set up several barriers before entering the bridal chamber, he couldn't really let his senior brothers and sisters fight desperately outside all night. He patted Chenshu's back gently with one hand, like soothing a child, while sending out Spiritual Power silently to probe outside the window, observing the situation in the courtyard.
But the courtyard was spotless—not a trace of ghostly qi, not even a hint of yin qi could be sensed; the seven senior brothers and sisters lay sprawled in the corridor, clearly already asleep.
Jin Chen: "……"
How strange! Whose illusion is this, exactly? From the moment I entered until now, everything feels inexplicably off, but I can't pinpoint what's wrong. The earlier battles were huge—a corpse spirit with a thousand years of cultivation, nine of us entering the realm together—by rights it shouldn't be so easy to dispatch.
Jin Chen withdrew his Spiritual Power, lowered his head to glance at the person in his arms—Chenshu was already asleep, his brows relaxed, his lips still bearing a red mark from being repeatedly sucked.
Jin Chen brushed aside the stray hairs on Chenshu's forehead, placed a light kiss on his brow, pulled the covers up, then leaned back into the soft pillow, his palm resting on Chenshu's lower back and patting gently; as he patted, his eyelids grew heavy, the fingers on Chenshu's lower back loosened their grip, curling loosely without slipping away.
After a few breaths, Chenshu opened his eyes.
His eyes held no trace of sleepiness, clear as an autumn pool; he lay quietly in the crook of Jin Chen's arm, feeling the warm weight of the palm on his back for a moment, then slightly lifted his head to gaze at Jin Chen's closed brows and eyes. The bedside candle had burned down to its last end, the wick floating in the oil, a faint light about to go out, casting a thin glow over Jin Chen's side profile; Chenshu's lips unconsciously curved slightly.
Chenshu still felt some soreness, but it was nothing serious; he raised his hand, and a strand of golden Spiritual Power extended from his palm, passing through the walls, through the corridor, and landing on the cluster of lingering black mist at the base of the courtyard wall—that was the true body of the corpse spirit, scattered by Jin Chen's barrier and the combined effort of the seven outside, now curled up in the corner, clinging to life, only a faint breath of soul still struggling to coalesce.
A tiny, sharp scream came from the courtyard, brief and piercing, then fell into complete silence. That thousand-year-old corpse spirit was thus completely eradicated.
From the moment before the wedding, the master of this illusion had ceased to be that corpse spirit and become Chenshu; the subsequent wedding ceremony, bridal chamber, and step-by-step progression all followed his will.
Chenshu withdrew his gaze, then let it fall again on Jin Chen's face; his fingertips lightly brushed Jin Chen's sleeping cheek, the tenderness in his eyes unstoppable, and he twined a strand of Jin Chen's hair around his finger, playing with it.
When did he discover that Jin Chen had come to this little world with his memories?
Chenshu lowered his eyes slightly, recalling that moment. It was when he dragged the corpse spirit into the illusion; Jin Chen unleashed that pulse of primordial Spiritual Power, which Chenshu recognized instantly, perhaps without Jin Chen himself realizing it, thereby exposing himself at that moment.
Then came the whole day, from the wager to entering the illusion, and then just now that absurd yet charming bridal chamber. Relying on Jin Chen's lack of memory, he played it to the hilt—threatening, coquettish, deceiving—having a blast.
Thinking of this, Chenshu couldn't help but chuckle softly; having acted so happily, he'd better keep Jin Chen in the dark for now.
He leaned down, placed a kiss on Jin Chen's forehead, lightly touched his eyelashes, and decided not to let Jin Chen discover that he had regained his memories for the time being, wanting to see what other tricks Jin Chen could come up with.
It seemed that in his sleep he sensed the person beside him being dishonest; Jin Chen's hand around Chenshu's waist tightened slightly, unconsciously pulling him closer into his embrace.
Chenshu obediently moved even closer; even if bitten on a spot still a little red and swollen, he merely glanced down, smoothed his hair, and went along.
He reached out to gently rub Jin Chen's ear, then closed his eyes.
——
The sky inside the illusion brightened.
Sunlight streamed through the lattice window, flooding the room and making the red hues even more vivid. The ghostly qi and gloom that had filled the air last night had completely dissipated.
Jin Chen opened his eyes but wasn't fully awake yet; after a few dazed breaths, he suddenly recalled what had happened the previous night, and his drowsiness vanished instantly.
Jin Chen quietly, slowly, carefully tried to pull his arm out from under Chenshu, intending to get up before he woke. No matter what, once Chenshu regained his memory and recalled last night's events, he would surely beat him again; luring someone to bed while they had no memory was somewhat unjustifiable.
The moment his foot touched the ground, before he could even stand, he felt a kick to his buttocks hard enough to make him stagger, nearly collapsing.
Jin Chen looked back and saw Chenshu already sitting up, tidying the already torn undershirt, his expression looking like he was gritting his teeth.
"Jin Chen," Chenshu said, his voice low and husky from just waking, "what did you do yesterday while I had no memory?"
Jin Chen smoothed out his already wrinkled, disheveled clothes, then touched his head; his hair bun had come loose, the gold and silver hairpins were nowhere to be found, and only a single ear pendant dangled from his ear, swaying.
He, feeling unjustified but emboldened, patted the buttock that had been kicked, stood up, and flashed Chenshu a radiant smile—the standard, heart‑bewitching smile exclusive to the first beauty of the Free and Easy Sect—saying, "It's just because the illusion affected me."
"Your memory was affected, my actions were affected; if we don't finish the wedding ceremony, who knows how that corpse spirit might still harm us."
He said, leaning in a bit more, blinking his eyes, "Senior Chenshu, you surely don't want to become a pair of doomed lovebirds with me, do you?"
No sooner had he finished speaking than he got a blow on the head.
"What nonsense," Chenshu said, pulling his hand back, his tone a little annoyed, "who wants to die with you?"
Jin Chen shrugged, continued to rely on his looks to act wickedly, grinning cheekily, "Senior brother, you won't be angry, will you? You've long been fond of me, and you're not losing out."
Chenshu seemed to laugh in anger: "If that's how you see it, then I'm the one getting the advantage?"
"Naturally." Jin Chen nodded solemnly, his expression utterly sincere.
Then his hair was pulled.
Jin Chen jumped aside, grimacing, rubbing his sore scalp, and ran off to tidy his hair.
