Chapter 3166: Plum Tree Lane Bitter Summer 06

~6 min read 1,188 words

Chenshu took a few steps to catch up, his steps light, the bundle in his arms wobbled, he didn't feel its weight at all, "Xiao Chen—"

This is his new way of calling Jin Chen, and he firmly drags out the ending each time he says it, with a hint of a lazy smile.

"Xiao Chen, help me carry the bag."

Jin Chen's footsteps paused, he turned his head to see Chenshu holding a large bundle in his arms, his pinky hooked a plastic bag full of ice cream, the bag's handle had been deformed from being pulled tight, the handle twisted tightly, seeming about to break, he hesitated for a second, but still lent a hand.

Chenshu immediately felt much lighter, shook out his reddened fingers, and walked upstairs together with Jin Chen.

"Xiao Chen, don't mind those words; I'm often called a pervert too—basically, if it slightly differs from worldly definitions, that's what happens."

Jin Chen suddenly turned his head to look at Chenshu, his slightly long hair half-covering his brows and eyes, the visible eye held an inexplicable gloom and an indescribable meaning, "Turns out you didn't know."

Chenshu, "What?"

Jin Chen's heartbeat suddenly quickened; now is not the time to think—should I tell him? Actually I am mentally ill.

Jin Chen's heart secretly rose a hidden, distorted heat; as his gaze met Chenshu's, Chenshu's eyes were like the last sunlight at dusk, yet hotter than the sun at any moment of daytime.

"Nothing." Jin Chen first withdrew his gaze, lowered his eyelids, and continued walking forward.

Chenshu caught up with him, continuing the previous topic: "I still play with mud at home. If they knew, this building would probably end up with two weirdos."

Jin Chen, who has a slight cleanliness obsession: "?"

He couldn't understand why someone would voluntarily play with mud at home; if one must play, he could at most accept Chenshu playing with mud in the grass downstairs, and maybe even gain friends under ten years old, many of them.

Chenshu was amused by his expression, lifted the box up, corners of his eyes crinkling, "Don't look at me so cutely, it's another kind of mud."

Speaking, they had already reached the third floor; Chenshu fumbled to take out the key and open the door, "Want to come in and see my mud?"

Jin Chen stood at the doorway, looking at the half-open door, it was scary.

At this moment, Jin Chen, whose emotions were dulled by medication side effects, rarely felt uneasy. He would rather become a plant, rooted in the hallway before Chenshu's door, without moving his feet or making any decisions.

But unfortunately, he is not a plant.

Jin Chen was still invited in through that door, entered Chenshu's living room, and at first sight saw the mud rack.

It was indeed different from what he imagined—not the dirty, slightly smelly mud from downstairs; gray mud neatly piled on the rack, vaguely showing a human shape, as if sealed inside, blocking all breath; Jin Chen thought so for no reason, his gaze then fell to the coffee table, where another mud figurine lay.

About the length of a forearm, basically formed, with slightly long hair, slender shoulders; the mud figurine hasn't been painted, just a raw base, gray and dusty, but…

Jin Chen's breath suddenly sank, he stared unblinkingly at the mud figurine.

Chenshu casually put down the package, walked over smiling, stood beside Jin Chen, "You can tell, right? This is you."

He moved closer, carefully examining Jin Chen's face; Jin Chen didn't dodge, just stubbornly gazed at the mud figurine, his eyes like two black lacquered holes, no one knows what he's thinking.

"Turns out you still have a lip mole." Chenshu hummed softly, his gaze falling on Jin Chen's lips.

Not just the lip mole; although Jin Chen appears somewhat listless, his brows and eyes are gorgeous, his eyelashes jet-black, his slightly long hair lies softly against his neck, making that section of neck even fairer.

Chenshu smiled faintly, "This is prepared as a gift for you. Do you want to watch me finish it here? Roughly…"

He glanced at Jin Chen's wristwatch, "One hour."

Jin Chen was quite interested in this, and today there would be no Jin Xiumei urging him to go home to do chores, so he naturally agreed.

Chenshu took a popsicle, held it in his mouth, then poured warm water for Jin Chen, sat down to continue shaping the mud figurine.

Jin Chen sat on the sofa, quietly watching him work, not feeling bored nor uncomfortable.

The fan buzzed, blowing warm air, stirring Chenshu's bangs; he occasionally lifted his eyes to smile at Jin Chen, scrutinizing him briefly, then lowered his head to continue his handiwork, warm affection thus openly flowing out.

After ten or so minutes, Chenshu suddenly went to wash his hands, returned and sat down beside Jin Chen, very close.

"I want to take a look at a detail." Chenshu raised his hand, gently cupping Jin Chen's side cheek.

Jin Chen's hands hung at his sides, fingertips slightly numb.

Chenshu's fingers were slightly cool, carrying a faint scent of water vapor and soap, he slightly tilted his head to seriously examine Jin Chen's features.

"Actually it's more like porcelain," Chenshu murmured softly, voice low, as if talking to himself, "Really beautiful."

Jin Chen again saw that enamored look in Chenshu's eyes; that infatuation wasn't aggressive, yet it made Jin Chen feel a helplessness he'd never felt before, his bones and the flesh touched tingling, as if something were growing in his bones, pushing apart his flesh, wanting to break through the skin.

Jin Chen's gaze fell on the tiny mole on Chenshu's nose tip; his thoughts were chaotic like cotton fluff blown by the wind, drifting everywhere, impossible to grasp or gather.

He felt only disgust and weariness toward himself, tired of this body and all its sensations, but being gazed at like this, his ear tips still turned a bit red.

A fire burned up from his core, reaching his brain, exploding his nerves into chaotic dry heat; that dry heat was like the ever-humid sun of Plum Tree Lane, impossible to avoid or escape.

"All right." Chenshu finally released his hold, his fingertips unintentionally brushing across Jin Chen's side cheek.

Actually he kind of wanted to kiss that lovely lip mole; he loved this appearance so much, the unprovoked pleasant feeling let him enjoy it greatly.

Chenshu's gaze upon Jin Chen's eyes was overlaid with the misty humidity of a summer night, hazy yet sparkling, his light tone as airy as a feather, "Jin Chen like this, it's really hard not to like him."

Chenshu said with a laugh, casually ruffling Jin Chen's hair, then continued working on the unfinished mud figurine.

Jin Chen slightly lowered his head, the gaze beneath his long lashes became moist and viscous, then came a strange, ear-ringing swelling sound, making him look like a broken puppet.

Temperature gives rise to everything; the indoor air is dry hot, those dry-heat factors exude an ambiguous, sticky humid heat, enveloping them.
