Chapter 3221: Saving the Zero-Protein Bai Ze Love Story 22

~7 min read 1,263 words

Bai Ze was still sitting on the edge of the bed, his posture unchanged, when he heard the sound of the bathroom door opening and jerked his head up, his gaze locked tightly on Qi Qi.

Qi Qi walked over with a cold face, without a word, picked up a warm towel and began wiping the blood stains and dust from Bai Ze's body.

Bai Ze's clothes had picked up a lot of grime in the earlier fight, let alone the blood on his skin; Qi Qi's actions were not gentle, even somewhat roughly venting, but he wiped thoroughly, missing no spot of dirt.

Bai Ze opened his mouth, wanting to say something.

"Don't speak." Qi Qi glared at him, fierce, "Shut up, I don't want to hear."

Bai Ze somewhat helplessly pressed his lips together, swallowing back the words that had already reached his lips.

He just sat there quietly, letting Qi Qi have his way, yet his gaze never left Qi Qi's face, suppressing the fear of loss.

That sorrowful emotion was too intense, so intense that Qi Qi couldn't even ignore it.

He unconsciously eased his hand's movements, then immediately grew angrier, "Why should I be gentle with him! This liar!"

Qi Qi quickly wiped clean whatever he could reach on Bai Ze's body, then tossed the towel onto a nearby chair.

He took a deep breath, wanting to say something harsh, but found he couldn't hold back, his eye sockets reddening against his will.

"So, back then you happened to meet me in District Thirteen..." Qi Qi's voice trembled, "Was it intentional, to get close to me for the X potion?"

Just uttering that question made Qi Qi feel terribly upset.

That was their first meeting.

At that time Qi Qi's old ailment flared up, and it coincidentally coincided with unrest among the high-ranking officials of District Ten. Sai Linna and Jin Junhao intended to send him to Didu to recuperate, thinking it safe and suitable for recovery.

But how old was he then? A young man full of vigor, raised in the free yet dangerous District Ten, how could he willingly go to Didu to be confined in a manor? Qi Qi gritted his teeth, escaped from District Ten, and after many twists ended up in District Thirteen.

He swore that even if he wandered the fringe districts, he would never go to Didu to be a caged songbird.

But Qi Qi fared poorly in District Thirteen; not long after arriving, he was targeted for his supplies and clashed with an entire gang. He single-handedly took down seven or eight, but ended up covered in wounds, finally collapsing miserably in an alley.

Heavy rain fell from the sky, rainwater mixed with blood streaming down his forehead, blurring his vision.

The youth lay on the cold ground, feeling his body temperature draining away bit by bit, just as Qi Qi thought he would die, a black umbrella rim appeared in his field of view.

Beneath the rim was a young, handsome face, eyes full of concern, as he squatted down to look at him and asked, "Do you need treatment?"

Such a clean, gentle person.

Qi Qi thought then, if such a person came from Huaxia Didu, he would willingly follow him back.

Later Bai Ze treated his wounds, cared for him, and accompanied him through those hardest days. Qi Qi once believed it was a gift from fate, that in his most miserable moment he had met the best person.

But now it's all fake.

All of it is fake.

Qi Qi felt awful, on the verge of tears, he struggled to hold them back, but his eye sockets reddened against his will.

Bai Ze felt a sharp pain in his heart; he couldn't bear to see Qi Qi like that, preferring Qi Qi to lash out at him, shout at him, even strike him, rather than see him wear that expression on the verge of breaking.

He ignored the hand still attached to the IV, trembling slightly as he raised his hand and brushed Qi Qi's cheek.

"No, Xiao Qi..." Bai Ze's voice hoarse yet firm, "It's not fake."

Qi Qi tried to turn his head away, but Bai Ze's hand firmly held it.

"I took on a mission, the plan…… originally was to purchase needed supplies in District Thirteen, then go to Huaxia Didu to find you." Bai Ze said, moving closer, rubbing his nose tip lightly against Qi Qi's cheek, the motion indistinct between affection and pleading.

"I didn't expect to meet you beforehand; back then I also didn't know you were my mission target."

"Please," Bai Ze yearned in his heart, "don't deny our feelings."

Qi Qi now has no idea which of Bai Ze's words are true and which are false.

His mind was a muddled mess, part of him wanting to believe Bai Ze, another part afraid of being deceived again.

He spoke resentfully, his voice gradually turning harsh, "I don't want to believe anything you say anymore!"

As his words fell, Bai Ze suddenly kissed him, a near-desperate fervor.

Bai Ze one hand cradled Qi Qi's cheek, the other still dangling the IV needle, an awkward pose, but he didn't care.

He kissed with such force that in the gap where their lips met, he whispered apologies.

Bai Ze even self-loathingly thought, if they hadn't had all those missions and scheming plans, hadn't…… his enmity with Sai Linna, how nice that would be. His heart felt a dull ache, yet he couldn't help but derive a scalp-tingling pleasure from kissing Qi Qi.

But Qi Qi was still angry.

He turned his head away, not letting Bai Ze continue kissing; Bai Ze followed, and he turned even farther. They struggled like that on the sofa, neither yielding.

Finally Qi Qi couldn't take it anymore, simply raised his hand to press Bai Ze's lips, rubbed hard twice, shoved him down, looking as if, out of anger, he wanted to roughly toy with him.

Bai Ze lay face up, looking at Qi Qi, his eyes full of longing, his face quickly flushing, his body going soft and hot, honestly giving feedback.

His exhaled breath grew scorching, even involuntarily, his lips chasing Qi Qi's fingers, the hot breath puffing onto the fingertips, damp and scorching; whenever he lifted his gaze to see Qi Qi's focused eyes, that extreme satisfaction surged through his body.

Qi Qi grew even angrier!

He didn't want to reward Bai Ze either!

He simply withdrew his hand, caught sight of the empty IV bag in his peripheral vision, and deliberately yanked out the needle from the back of Bai Ze's hand; blood quickly welled at the puncture, but Bai Ze didn't even furrow his brow—this pain was trivial to him, nothing compared to his heartache.

He finally could free both arms to hug Qi Qi.

Bai Ze wanted to embrace Qi Qi, but Qi Qi, as if expecting it, dodged his hug.

Bai Ze froze in place, his face pallid, the faint warmth that had just sparked in his eyes quickly cooling, turning bitter and helpless.

Qi Qi clicked his tongue, lifted his foot and kicked Bai Ze's shin, "You're filthy, yet you still want to hug me!"

Bai Ze stared for a moment, lowered his head to look at himself—his clothes still bore blood stains and dust, even though Qi Qi had wiped them once, overall he still looked a mess.

He sprang up from the bed, staggered from the sudden rise, then without looking back rushed into the bathroom.
