Chapter 647: Beast Clan World: Raising a Wife 22
As he passed Hua Wan, he again gave Jin Chen a look of wronged complaint.
Yes, it was clear his partner had been crippled by Jin Chen, yet Hua Wan saw Jin Chen feeling wronged rather than resentful.
Jin Chen simply felt this protagonist was suffering for no reason.
He silently moved two steps toward his wife, then hurried away.
That look is truly disgusting!
Hua Wan watched Bai Mo and Jin Chen's intimacy, lowering her eyes unwillingly.
Why does Bai Mo get such a fine male, while he painstakingly found a second warrior, only for him to now be crippled!
Why does he and Bai Mo always have an unbridgeable chasm? Why can't he have someone and something better than Bai Mo?
He brooded in sorrow for a while, looking at the cart where only Tuoluote clung to life, and inexplicably a feeling of annoyance arose in his heart.
Thus he summoned his strength, and Hua Wan pleaded with several sturdy males to help him carry Tuoluote home.
The chief looked at the assorted grasses among that pile of food, momentarily unsure of the situation, but ultimately didn't press further, letting them go home to rest.
When Jin Chen returned, what he brought was less than when he left—just some uncommon meat and edible vegetables he'd found in the forest.
Back home, he took some herbs from his space and put them at the bottom of the basket, without arousing Bai Mo's suspicion.
"Brother, are you really not hurt?"
Bai Mo was still worried; he took Jin Chen's hand and led him into the room, examining him up and down for a long while, then touching his face.
"You say I'm thin, but brother, you've become quite weathered."
Weathered.
Jin Chen's expression shifted slightly; he doubted life as he ran his hands over his face, wondering if his wife no longer found this face attractive!
He furrowed his brow, leaned in and rested his chin on Bai Mo's shoulder, "Mo Mo, are you saying you despise me?"
"How could that be?"
Bai Mo was startled by his words, quickly cupping his face and kissing him, "I feel sorry for you; the forest is full of dangers, you surely haven't rested properly."
"Indeed."
Jin Chen clung to his wife, rubbing against her, "I'll go take a proper bath, then Mo Mo, will you keep me company while I sleep?"
"Sure, Chief Uncle said you'd be back today, and I've already heated the water."
"Brother, what would you like to eat? I'll make it for you."
"I'm not hungry now; let's eat later."
Jin Chen yawned and went to take a bath first.
These days in the forest, one could jump into the stream to bathe, but it's still not as comfortable and clean as washing at home.
Although Jin Chen said it wasn't necessary, Bai Mo couldn't sit idle; happily preparing some fruit for him, he shook off the gloom of the past few days, even smiling while washing the fruit.
After more than ten days, their feelings not only didn't fade, but grew even stronger because of their separation.
Bai Mo felt with his eyes that he could no longer be apart from Jin Chen.
"Mo Mo, help me get my clothes; I forgot to bring them—"
Just as he was putting the fruit into a wooden bowl, he heard Jin Chen shouting from the back room.
Bai Mo responded, wiped his hands, and went to the bedroom to fetch the animal‑skin garment; it was newly sewn by him, and he had also stitched the inner lining Jin Chen once taught him, only realizing how comfortable it felt when he put it on.
He held the clothes and called out from outside the curtain, asking Jin Chen to take them in, but only a hand steaming with water reached out.
Just as he placed the clothes up, Jin Chen seized his wrist and jerked him suddenly.
Bai Mo widened his eyes, glanced at the door curtain, not understanding how he'd gotten inside, then glared at Jin Chen, his face flushing slightly.
"Brother, what are you doing?"
Jin Chen hummed, embraced his wife, and tossed the clean clothes casually onto the outdoor rack.
"I miss Mo Mo."
This longing is not that longing; Bai Mo is no longer as he was before the bond, and now he can understand what Jin Chen is saying.
But how could this happen in broad daylight, and in the bathing place?
Jin Chen felt washing with cold water here was uncomfortable, so he made a large wooden tub big enough for two to soak and wash.
At this moment he half‑rose, embraced Bai Mo, and got quite a bit of moisture on his clothes as well.
"How about tonight, brother, okay?"
Bai Mo affectionately kissed Jin Chen's cheek.
"Mm‑hmm, no."
Jin Chen had already begun to roam, rubbing his kisses all over Bai Mo's neck, "Mo Mo surely despises my weathered looks and refuses to be intimate with me."
Bai Mo: "……"
He really hadn't expected that word to carry such lethal force.
Weakened by the rubbing, Bai Mo could barely stand; he helplessly clung to Jin Chen for support and was then swept into the bath, soaked through and through.
"Brother!"
Jin Chen suddenly stopped, gazing innocently at him, "Mo Mo is angry with me—could it really be that you don't want to?"
"But the tail…"
He glanced at the tail that had naturally coiled around his own waist.
Bai Mo choked a little, his beast ears shaking off water, his long hair damp and clinging to his body, only adding a hint of allure.
"I'm not unwilling… I don't despise brother, I'm just……
"Just shy?" Jin Chen finished the sentence for him, embracing and kissing his lips, "Even though it's daytime, everyone's busy resting now—who would come to our house?"
That made sense; Bai Mo, aside from his shyness, also wanted to properly express this longing.
Wrapping his arms around Jin Chen's neck, Bai Mo let him remove his wet clothes, tacitly consenting.
The sun hung high and then set west; the water sound in the cave never ceased.
Until the moon rose high, Bai Mo, utterly exhausted, could not summon the spirit to continue, and leaned on Jin Chen to sleep.
Jin Chen's face turned rosy with satisfaction; compared to his earlier "weathered" appearance, he was now as different as heaven and earth.
He held Bai Mo, washed them clean, then went to bed together to sleep.
As soon as they touched the bed, Bai Mo seemed conscious, burrowing straight into Jin Chen's embrace, unable to leave his side.
"Brother..."
"I'm here, go to sleep, good."
That night, Bai Mo never woke from his dream again.
Jin Chen no longer needed to stare at the spatial screen, longing for someone.
Without a doubt, during the day neither of them managed to get out of bed.
Jin Chen simply didn't want to rise early, warmed by the fragrance in his arms, while Bai Mo truly slept until the sun was high before regaining his energy.
He woke up dazed for a while, propped himself up, glanced at the sunlight streaming in, then rolled into Jin Chen's embrace.
"The sun is already high; how are we still sleeping in bed?"
"I reckon the whole tribe is resting today; what's the point of getting up so early?"
Jin Chen was flipping through the book under the pillow; seeing his wife awake, he set it down and asked, "Mo Mo, did you finish the second book?"
"I've finished them all, but there are many medicinal herbs we don't have at home."
Bai Mo also felt it a pity; the recipe was good, but missing two or three ingredients meant it wouldn't be as effective.
"I brought back quite a bit; Mo Mo, want to go take a look?"
"Sure, sure!"
Bai Mo instantly felt energized; his heart desperately wanted to run over and look, but his body wouldn't really allow it.
He twisted his waist, his tail drooping, his tone rather accusatory.
"I can't get up; it's all your fault, Brother."
Jin Chen let out a low, muffled chuckle, kissed the side of his face to coax him, and said, "Then let me rub it for you."
