Chapter 651: Beast Tribe World: Raising a Wife 26
Jin Chen stood in front of Bai Mo, coldly staring at these people.
"You insist it's Bai Mo's fault? But he saves lives and heals the sick—everything he does is for the tribe's good. Why would you harm him?"
"Exactly! Even if Hua Wan had that ability, what difference would it make? Jin Chen helps us repair houses and caves, Bai Mo teaches us how to grow food—what could be better than that?"
Yu Wu grew angry, ignoring the obstruction of Du Feng's family behind her, she ran to Bai Mo's side to confront the crowd.
"They say our Snake Tribe is cold-hearted and unfeeling, but I see your Lion Tribe as lacking conscience one and all!"
That female was cowed by him, half; instead, Hua Wan took up the conversation—although she had been mercilessly mocked by Jin Chen many times, she still treated him extremely well.
"Jin Chen, I don't mean to say Bai Mo intentionally harmed people; it's just that he couldn't control the injury the curse brought upon the tribe."
"Not only us—you and he are together every day; perhaps you'll suffer harm too in the future."
Bai Mo suddenly asked, "So what do you want to do? Drive me away?"
Only now did he realize that, no matter how many things he did for the tribe, they seemed insignificant compared to the importance of a curse.
Only Jin Chen and a few scattered friends could steadfastly believe in him.
Hua Wan smiled at him, clearly a friendly smile, yet Bai Mo could forcibly see within it a chill and sinister intent.
"As an old friend, I don't want you to pay with your life, but as the current heir of the Beast God's Will, I must also bear my responsibility."
"Or rather..."
He glanced at the hesitant chief, then pointed toward the back mountain.
"I recall someone once saying that the tribe's back mountain has an abandoned cave dwelling; why not live there? It would both ensure the curse doesn't harm the tribe and prevent your expulsion."
"But before that, you need to undergo a fire baptism to wash away the curse."
When Hua Wan spoke her last words, she fixed her gaze on Bai Mo's eyes, faintly feeling pleased.
Upon hearing this, many present agreed.
Especially the females, they truly feared that the next to die from the curse would be themselves.
They argued and clamored, wanting to drive Bai Mo to live in the back mountain cave; their voices were chaotic and noisy, forming an echo in the spacious back mountain.
Bai Mo stepped back half a step, suddenly feeling a chill in his heart.
"No need." Jin Chen said.
He embraced Bai Mo, shielding him in his arms, covered his ears, and saw that the tribespeople's eyes, once warm, were now utterly cold.
"No need for your charity; since the heir of the Beast God's Will has spoken, I will naturally make my own choices."
"I will take Bai Mo and leave the Lion Tribe."
The chief was startled; his earlier hesitation instantly firmed: "No way! Jin Chen!"
The shouting tribespeople also fell silent, staring at Jin Chen in disbelief.
This is their tribe's foremost warrior—if he were to leave...
"But I will also take the herbs, food, and seeds—things you only have because of Bai Mo."
"If we're cutting ties, do it cleanly—don't suffer needless injury and then blame us!"
This was enough to scare the people present stiff.
This is all the food they have to survive the winter!
Immediately, an old, thick‑skinned person retorted, "These things aren't yours alone—they're from the forest; how could we not possess them?"
"Exactly! You merely found them first—what right do you have to take them all?"
"Pah! Shameless!" Yu Wu grabbed a stone and hurled it into the crowd, "Why didn't you notice? Is it because you didn't want to?"
"Having benefited from Bai Mo's kindness, yet you drive him away—a bunch of cowardly, greedy wretches!"
Bai Mo finally calmed his emotions, turned his head to look at them, and his eyes faintly showed mockery.
Mocking himself for once again trusting the so‑called tribespeople.
Clearly, the people he can trust have always been few.
"Even if you don't take them away, you still couldn't sustain them."
He spoke each word coldly, "I only taught you how to plant them; I haven't yet taught pest control, maintenance, or pruning."
"You can't keep this food and these plants alive."
The tribespeople were speechless, staring at each other.
Deep down they felt that letting Bai Mo leave might not be the best solution, but the thought of his curse made them afraid.
Hua Wan also hadn't expected that, although she clearly knew how terrifying Bai Mo's curse was, Jin Chen was still willing to share his fate.
And still take food with them when leaving the tribe.
No matter how much the chief urged, Jin Chen was resolute—he immediately prepared to take Bai Mo home, pack up, and leave.
"I never belonged to the Lion Tribe anyway—I'm a golden lion, you're brown lions; besides bullying my mate, leaving is inevitable."
Jin Chen was truly angry; he wanted to give Bai Mo a good living environment and didn't want him to be ostracized by the tribe, so he simply set out to improve the whole tribe's living conditions.
Who would have thought these people would, over a baseless curse, refuse even to give them time to investigate, and simply want to expel Bai Mo?
If that's the case, it'd be better to just leave.
This was the first time he had said such a thing to the chief; after speaking, he took Bai Mo down the mountain.
"I'll go with you—seeing Hua Wan's face makes me nauseous, and as for the heir of the Beast God's Will, pah pah pah!"
Yu Wu saw them leave, turned, crossed her arms, and called out to Du Feng from afar.
"Do you want to go or not!"
"Du Feng! No way!" Du Feng's father Amu grabbed his arm, "Don't oppose the tribespeople!"
"Amu… I have my own choice…"
"Then does this mean you're rejecting Father Amu? And you still have your younger brother—he hasn't even transformed yet, and he's so small."
Du Feng was cut off from speaking, his eyes struggled, he looked pleadingly at Yu Wu: "Little Wu, will you stay? We can often go find Jin Chen to play."
"Again like this… Du Feng, do you know why I always want to say go home?"
Yu Wu's eyes reddened, "Because your family controls you too tightly, you never dare to oppose them, and you still make me suffer injustice."
"I formed a bond with you not to suffer injustice."
He wiped away his tears, snorted, "I'm leaving on my own, I won't wait for you!"
After saying that, he turned and ran, catching up to Bai Mo's silhouette.
"Yu Wu!"
Du Feng wanted to shake off the hands of Amu and his father restraining him to chase Yu Wu, but he hesitated again when he saw Amu clutching his chest.
"A Zhou? You're leaving too?"
He looked at A Zhou, surprised and uncertain.
"Of course, I and my father are going to look for Jin Chen, you… uh."
A Zhou also knew about Du Feng's family situation; as he passed him, he patted his shoulder, "Bai Mo can't stay here any longer."
"If Jin Chen really intends to leave, I will go help him; I hope you can understand."
"You little brat, hurry up and follow!"
A Mingya shouted.
Then three more left.
Before the clanspeople could react, the middle-aged male A Di'er and his mate, the burly male Da Yuan and his Sub-Beast, plus several males who had their lives saved by Jin Chen during hunts, and the families healed by Bai Mo, all indicated they would leave with him.
